People as a group - uh, how many does it take to make a group? 2 or more? So, from this I logically deduce that a person by himself is not stupid, but when he is with someone he becomes stupid. So, let's think about what it means to be "with someone" to become stupid. Does one have to physically be with someone to become stupid, or can one be virtually with someone and bec

Probably some graphical features not supported by your card. Try disabling all the video function in game and watch. If the game runs smootly, just enable them one by one till you find the features which creates the most slow down. then disable them.

Your problem is economy. I ALWAYS win with Yor on Maso diff level.(No tech trading, since it makes the game too easy). The importance is not the number of colonies, but how many people in total you have. Thus you must research Habitat Improvement as fast as possible (ie ASAP), since it let you build aphrodisiacs which gives you a 50% pop boost. Raise your taxes. The pop growth bonuses are 25% with 75% approval and 100% with 100% approval. thus whenever your approval is 72% or 4

Looks cool except that enemies can't use them if they're on the planet You can only teleport ships ON YOUR planets. i dont get what you mean by that. You also have the issue of fleets and the limited number of ship

Here i made an illustration of the idea. Stargates are located on planets ONLY. Your ship should move on the planet orbit to teleport to ANY other of your planets. (In the illustration i put a close one since i wanted to save space).Once the ship has been transported (i wrote teleported damn ), it has 0 movement points. PS. I am not a graphic artist. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T

I mean whining is normal. Each person have a limited amount of knowelege about a game. Thus if you have too much free time and you wanna talk, what other choices do you have except saying "I t sux", "Gna gna gna !!!". Etc. Also i dont really see a reason to whine about the beta. In fact i am quite surprised the beta is this GOOD. I mean the balance is nice. The bugs are few. Few tweaks and the game would be perfect.

MMM Stars game sounds sweet. Very sweet. I can pass hours simply to CALCULATE the thing. (Muhahahah). Ok. The thing is that its purpose is kind of different from GCII. I mean if you look the evolution of strat games, they become simple and simple, with lesser units but better balance. (Civ is a good example). Putting too much details would complicate the game too much, making it too micromanagable. Considering the fact that most ppl play on hude and gigantic, this is unadvisable. <table

1)War Balance trashed. So you capture a planet, then use its population to fill your transports to capture another ... 2) Economic Balance Trashed. The war is economically damaging. The troops you move in transport and loose are money you loose. Also, it will take time for the new planet to be economically OK. (or if you micro manage, you can bring citizens from other planets). If the pop would be preserved, the war as it progress would bring you more and more money, thus

If planet sensors are significantly increased and survey modules permanently eliminate the fog of war, I could live with 10 on gigantic. I dont really get why whould you need super sensors. Just build up more scout ships. Also this would make free survey module technology (i forget what you need to build, something under sensors i) worth it.<

I thunk i need to clarify my thoughts. I meant creating stargates which let you transport a ship from one of your planets to ANY of your planets in one turn. So it doesnt matter what is your speed technology. Also do not forget that considering the size of a stargate and the tech used to create it, it would probably be equivalent to hundreds of engines. So any transport between planets would take 1 turn

34 Replies 32,583 Views

Here the basic plan 1) Limit the maximum speed of ships to 8 units/turn. 2) Make your planets with instant transport (I mean stargates did not just disappear with hyperdrive). Basically you can send your ships from one colony to another instantly. 3) Make sure ppl can put a max of 2 engines on their ship. 4) Make life support essential (like 1 basic support for 2 squares !!!). Currently it is useless. I mean the average distanse between stars is no more then one se

I am laying on large map, everything abondant, 9 races, NO TECH TRADE. Winning on maso difficulty is pretty easy, but when it comes to Obsene, the AI just buy off tons of colony ships and basically grab all the few colonizable planets. Even with Talans (Whose factories bonus , added to their already strong native bonuses) is pretty impossible. No only they grab planets but, they are also pretty smart by grabbing all the economic ressources pretty quickly <img src="http://images.star

The thing is that planets are not contries. Even if you have imperial governement, it is very difficult to control a planet. Take as an example US. If a state decides to declare its independance it can. It will not be instant, but it will take time. An actual possibility is the french speaking province of Quebec in Canada. It tried to declare independace without success for mroe then 1 decade. If they succeed they could then form an alliance with another country such as france or US. The reason

I think the simple way of solwing the problem is to limit the number of Movement points a Ship has to 8. Or you can make any drives technologies taking from 50-25% of the ship space.

I have just got the planet (So i added fusion and stock exchanges). Now there is 2 possibilities. Either the AI is completly retarder (on crippling). Or it is really really mean. I mean it took me something like 40-50 turns to get this planet by influence. Guess the AI wanted a little joke .

MMM. I think it would be better to have interactive combat. You know like changing your mouse to a crosshair and being able to shoot down the ennemy troops by clicking . Also using MOO2 as an example is not a very good idea considering the fact that keeping population of a different race gave you the possibility to exploit their bonuses. So there was a purpose to enslave and breed others. (Ah

Here is my idea of balanced spying. Here the main features. 0) Spys operation require SNPs ("Spying Network Points"). 1) Spys have levels. (from 1 to 5).Spys auto-upgrade after spending some SNPs. 2) Spys could be build. Their cost is constant. The cost is 2 times more for each level. Spying Technology enables you to build spy of a certain level directly (instead of training them). 3) Spys can be placed on any habitable tile on a planet. They are invisible to everybody except

You want to cripple an AI with your spies. NO Problem. Take your spies an put them on all AI farms.Wait for one turn and then move to another. The AI will probably send his spies against one of your planets, thus he will no nullify all yours (or will only nullify part of them). Since the ai usually do not build farms for nothing you get the picture: 1 spy == 3 Million+ colonist per turn. No better way to scrap and AI economy.

Upgrade with mining ships. In picture one you see a a button named improve (Under the Upgrade button). If you have the mining technology researched just click on it and it will improve your mine.
