"absmiddle"> Victoria does not suck!! It is a great game with an admittedly steep and long lurning curve. But look at its forum and you will see a dedicated fan and modder base.

Ah, Dead Can Dance - of course
Hi all, something wrong with "Watch Thread". I got my last notification at page 21!! Well, however. Just wanted to drop by and say hello. I finally submitted my third game. Incredible how sloaw I am :p Having a great time with my son. He is 23 days "old" now... Watership Down was great (somebody mentioned it some pages ago). I wish I could find more of such stuff. Well, good night for now...

Thanks idleprocess, philopoemen, Space Wombat, Ray and bostonrpgmania. Incredible experience :D :CONGRAT: :D Ray, concerning the metaverse competition: Well, I'm not very much interested in it, but it's sometimes amusing to follow. You pointed out that it can turn into a joy-killer, when it's overshadowing other aspects of gaming. I would like to see a continuation of our presence in the metaverse without caring about competition. That's my suggestion for the collective - anyway, ind
Hi from the most inactive Council member, my son, Sidar, is born. I am -as you can bet- happily busy with him. Meanwhile the Council was disbanded and resurrected :SURPRISED: But I'm glad that this break served a purpose and the Council tries to figure out its direction. My vote shouldn't be much worth (as I'm not really contributing much so far), but I'm also asked, so I would stick with 3) contibute to the game (what a surprise :p ) By for now, I'm going to watch my son sle
After my last post internet was completely down during the last days. It's incredible to see how everything gets paralized in this country. The whole system, companies, social insurances, bureaucracy, etc. is cut. The financial (and social) loss is reaching insane levels. I hope I'll get through with this post, because the connections are still far from being normal. Additionally I suffer from constant crashes since a few days. I think I have to install Windows from the scratch
I'm back after a week of hard work. I'm sorry that I miss the whole interaction here. I just managed to read all the posts. (By the way, the internet speed in Turkey dropped 80% after the earthquake of Algeria, two weeks ago. The connection through the meditarrenaen is cut. A lot of people can't reach their yahoo or hotmail accounts. Internet was never very fast here, but now it's horrible. The problem is to be solved in a few days -they say...) There seems to be not too much i
I earned 5 points with HIM. I'm still waiting to be inspired for a name for HIM (opposed to former PCs [at work], "Bodo" was the best). I was determined to build up a strong friendship, but HE has ruined it from the start. Now we get along in a way, but my (our?) dreams are screwed... :( :p
Thanks RayChua and hi all, and how fast things have developed in just two days..?!! Thanks for the title, hopefully I can stand up to it (which I suspect). Thanks for your kind words as a father of a girl. We wished for the same, but well, a boy is also a child to be loved in the end :D So, what do you think of my suggestion to collect, filter and merge suggestions for improvement? How to do it? A seperate site for the sake of pellucidity (not sure if this word explains it)? O
"On second thought, When the AI sells a ship to an AI does the human hear about it? I am not sure." If the AI will be improved to react to ships sold/given away in it's sensor range, a notification for the player in such cases should also be applied (next to a change in the relation) - IMO.
My letter to Admin RayChua: Dear RayChua I am requesting to join your empire on GalCiv.com. I've only submitted once yet (which does not seem to be very relevant for the purpose of The White Council). I play my games slowly and not every day. Furthermore; I'll be a father in some days, so my time will be quite limited. Nevertheless, I wish to join the council, because I follow the forum almost everyday and am very interested in the progress of the game, especially when
"Incidentally, it would seem reasonable for an AI to get irritated with you if you're giving arms to its enemy within its sensor range." Would be a great thing to be implemented. :)
I have a question, which deserves a thread for its own, but it's related to the recent enhancements concerning diplomacy. My question is really only a question and I'm not complaining about anything. I'm saying this beforehand after I've observed how the nerf-discussion lead to so much tension (and I'm concerned about my ability to put things right in english). Well, here is the question: Would it be possible to have more diplomatic options (as the AI has; asking for help, threatening be
Hmm, the given answers don't seem to cover the question. I voted for challenging, but this doesn't represent my thoughts about the AI. It is challenging in many ways, but it also is lacking military tactics. The update for the Arceans should be universal. The options for diplomacy and cooperation are also very limited (for both, player and AI). But don't take me wrong. I'm sure that the AI and the possibilities for interaction will be improved a lot and are not bad at all as they are now. :
Pirates! It's still the game I've spent the most time... I miss it so much. And there was Colonization. Much deeper than the Civ series. Multi-layered (natives, european powers, king). It's unbelievable that nobody is going to remake it...
I agree. The combination of military and culture path is too strong. The AI is almost helpless against it.
There could be one button to switch between actual spending graphs and total graphs. No?
I wished so many times for Valamir's suggestion to be reality... :)
Well, I'm from Turkey and will certainly not start a Turkish empire (would be horrible I think), but I'm still curious if there are any other players from TR (it doesn't seemed too important to start a separate thread, so I add it here) ;p
I'm not sure if it's true, but it seems that 1.03 changed the AI's to trade very aggresively with each other, while they tend to withdraw your suggestions. This was also mentioned in other threads and it seems quite unfair to me. Nothing against a difficult game, but shouldn't all civs treated the same way?
My problem with research is the other way around (if I understood you folks right). When I reload, my techs take longer to be researched. Quite frustrating. But I'm confident in the future patches...
This is a bit off topic, but I think the number of techs mid-game minor civs start with, should be randomized up to -let's say- 50% of techs known by the most backward major civ. It seems to "unfair" (and is boring) to be able to start selling all techs from the beginning. I also liked the suggestion to give them random pop (within some limits) and a small fleet.
Good idea, IMHO
Before GalCiv went gold, there was a random events thread. I suppose that suggestions in that category are also meant to be submitted here. My suggestion: Let's have a galactic consumer embargo against stuff of evil empires which entered a war. What about minus 10 to trade skill and 20% loss in actual trade?
