It's all a preference thing...whatever you feel comfortable with. Do you back up your files/data regularly? How long have you been using your ME system, and how much of your drive is filled up? You would definitely need to back up all your data files (at least) and other important files, but that's recommended even for an upgrade. I upgraded to XP Home...in retrospect, I probably should've/could've went with the Pro version, but I'll stick with this for now. I use Pro at work.

Keep looking...I have an old gateway myself, and one of the disks says Microsoft Works, but there's a list on the right side of the disk that says Microsoft Word 2000 SR-1. Not sure how old your system is, or if you have the same version of Word (I've since upgraded), but it should be located on the same disk as MS Works. Hope that helps.

No problems here. The ITO at work gave me a disk with the network version of SP2 (I don't have a network) to use, he said there were less issues reported with that version. I forgot to turn off WB before the install, but luckily no problems with that.

I *just* bought and downloaded OD Plus myself. The default dock has a tab already labelled Tray on the right end, and all my systray icons appear on it. Did you restart your computer after you installed it? You might want to try that.

For this site, I like using the Mud Theme...so I guess I'm used to gray/grey...it's easier on my eyes too.

but I've been in love with WB since Alexandrie's LightBlue. That was the skin that made me a WB-man. Same here...I still love LightBlue even though it's several years old. It's what got me interested in WB.

I happen to look at the volcano cam earlier today, right when St Helens coughed/belched up a decent eruption! My office was watching the ash cloud (on satellite) drift into our area. But looks like she's settled down for the evening now.

For the most part...those are done using the graphics programs (like PSP, Photoshop, etc.)...usually with effects or plugins.

Also perhaps you should use the Export to png function to confirm that the image transparency is being saved properly. That's how I retain transparency on png images.
