Wouldn't it be easier to propose some completely absurd set of rules that would mess with his fine sense of organization and order? And then proceed to counter every single one of his thought out arguments with a sophomoric response eventually creating feelings of frustration and annoyance to such a level that he can not adequately well play the game.

mwah ha ha, i can't WAIT to take down those impostor teams :CONGRAT:
I like choice #4 (ties broken by score/speed) but leaving them as is, is perfectly ok with me too. I am strenuously against using submission time, and I'm not really fond of the fractional points though it wouldn't really bug me either. As for lousing up the site lol, I am 95% sure FB meant that he saw that the MVL had prolly the majority of the most recent threads; he was just making a joke on how we have "monopolized" the forums. And to be honest, may as well be us "monopolizing" as c
hey now, no hitting the poor defenseless Crusaders, thats just mean
all right guys, I got Round 5's info set up over at the Core, check it.
yknow funny this is, in Neilo's earlier post where he said "
We could use....nevermind....bad idea.
was him and i actually discussing about using fractional bonus points, but it became a practicality issue (and ease of use)
Personally I wouldn't mind trying having ties broken by score. However one point that everyone seems to neglect is that score can tie as well. M
and you WONDER why I staged a coup?
My argument against using submission is as follows
My argument for using score as compared to submission time in tie breakers: One of the goals of the MVL is to promote players to play outside their comfort zone, to improve their game, and to provide an environment where they can learn from others around them. Earlier submission times do not adequately reflect any of these traits though we have used them to counter game "vultures" that wait to see
yknow...i should be eternally thankful that you don't have the power to change my avatar on here Neilo
It would still crash if I only disabled the planets textures, but if I disabled all the textures under the Performance tab, I could start go to the main menu, in-game, and was able to start a new one. At most, for me, its a very minor inconvenience because I have no qualms about just quitting and restarting or using ctrl-n. Just wanted to bring your attention to it.
Selma Hayek as Serendipity: "And that's why he's 'The King' and you're a schmuck"
I have consistently been able to repeat this CTD. If I am in game and then go to the main menu and select to start a new game it will immediately crash to desktop. I am using Dark Avatar v1.8e. I do have Windows Vista and NVidia GeForce 8500 GT but for the record have not experienced any other issues, graphical or otherwise, in the game (outside of known bugs in 1.8e such as the fleet movement bug). The following is my debug.err following one of these CTDs. Debug Message: Version v
and they are very good ones. I had put this particular spreadsheet together at 3am AFTER already being up til 5am the previous morning trying my darndest to complete my games. The basic format of the sheet will be used again but I plan on it being easier to read and understand the next time. The number that is located in Column: Submission Time and Row: Sum Total is the average submission total (placement/games) The number to the right of that under the Total Points column i
hahaha, GO Mumble!
Thank you, but let it be known that it was the combined effort of myself, Neilo, FireBender, and Mumblefratz that made sure we got it done quickly and got it done correctly.
haha, its ok, we understand. We can help give you an outline of ideas but just see what works for you. Yes, the power plants and research coordinators are improvements found with later techs. Campaign games require a completely different way of thinking and managing your resources, in all honesty, even some of the best players on here could have trouble in the campaign because it is different from the sandbox version. Almost all the tips you find are helpful in gameplay but
there ya go then, something DEFINITELY to be proud of :CONGRAT:
Cool, well then a very hearty welcome. Neilo will randomly place you on a team as soon as he gets back. In the meantime may I suggest surfing our threads: [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/?aid=166144#1381584"]Metaverse League Round 4[/link] and [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/?aid=165550#1381553"]The MVL Rulebook[/link] probably being the most helpful and informative. Feel free to say "hi" to everyone :D
hmmm, I have the disc lying around, maybe I'll need to bust it out and try a few rounds
Neilo is currently on vacation (it is summer there in the Southern Hemisphere) but he will be back on Wednesday and will post the new Round requirements. Around then look for a new thread with the title "Metaverse League Round 5" in it To Velkyn and Galen, first off thanks for showing interest in the MVL, I hope you both turn out getting as much enjoyment out of playing that I and others do. Secondly, if you are sure you would like to join, send Neilo a PM or write a response on here,
Bluntblade, 1) non-conquest games are hard to get high points anyhow; and technically, I got the lowest scored game though it didn't count and it was a Defeat lol. 2nd) you may have had the lowest correct victory score BUT if you hadn't won your game Team A would have actually came in last place, so take heart, this is why those Base scores actually DO mean something. And most importantly, did you learn something and did you have fun?
agreed, though Neilo did tell me he was pretty much asleep when he wrote this
Hi Ghost Glove To answer your question about balance, I personally tend to use a 3:1 ratio, that is 3 economic-based planets to one industrial and/or research world. Generally speaking, due to the way morale works in both DL and DA, one doesn't need to have more than 1 farm on any planet since populations above 21 million are very hard to keep happy, basically it becomes cost ineffectual. Also most veteran players do not use the gold 300% farm bonus tiles, but depending on the
The MVL is the reason I play Metaverse games since I personally tend to like to create stories with my games so most of my sandbox games are heavily modded. The biggest selling point to me IS the camaraderie by far, it is definitely a group of amazing individuals. I usually tell people that the most basic goals of the Metaverse League are 1) TO HAVE FUN! 2) to improve a player's gaming ability 3) TO HAVE FUN 4) to challenge a player into trying out new ideas,
PlayJeff, NO amount of Iconian slaves are equal to one Altarian...ESPECIALLY if that Altarian happens to be a fembot
