yes IB is correct, the All Labs and All Factory approach are NOT suggested for new or moderate players. However, that being said, the All-Factory is "easier" to manage than an All-labs approach. And these strategies are perhaps integral to a high difficulty game.
To Kryo and/or others from SD that may be listening, after conversing with Mumblefratz we are in the thinking that Achievements 6-9 have, as yet, not been given any status. May we humbly suggest that my supposition (a Conquest, Research, Influence, and Political victory with each race) be submitted for consideration for those medals. I would suggest that would give more than enough reason for players to try out different strategies and submit more games to the Metaverse to achieve those goals.

In a huge or gigantic map its not really a bad idea to get one or two more Survey ships out there, not necc. for the BC anomalies (which are still helpful, if small, but I don't use them to allow another Rush Buy, 500BC will keep me afloat for a turn or two) but even the stat increases, getting a few econ boosts makes a noticeable difference over time. With the Difficulty avg I know that at least at one point it dropped the decimal point to only using the first integer(ie 5.88 became 5 even though it should have probably become 6) If someone can definitively answer that I will change the OP to reflect it.
Thanks DA. There are some minor bugs with the Medals and I know the devs are aware of that (since Kryo has mentioned that he should have one of the medals that Frogboy has). I know this is kinda an old thread, but if anyone else has this happen you can also hit the "Clear" button in the race customization screen. This will reset the race selected to its basic non-altered form (whether it be a built in race or custom race), this is easier than deleting the xml file
