Have we been given clear official word it will be coming back eventually? I'd be totally content with that. There are a lot of features still to come that aren't at release and I'm happy to lump faction creation in with them. As long as they do eventually come in (And do trust Stardock will see that though eventually if they say the will). I have several friends (like... 5) who might be interested in the game. They will want such features and none of them will be prepared to mod or us

Depends on how hard missing spell books are to specifically get. I haven't played without all of them so it's hard to tell. But I wouldn't want to have to play out the whole game being utterly unable to get fire or water spell books just because they didn't happen to come up. I heard loosely somewhere you can research missing spell books. If correct then why not start with them all, you'll have them all anyway by the time you can use them effectively. It's just trading research time for stats

Pretty sure I reported this issue during the beta (Kicked in around midway through Beta 2 from memory) and saw it reported several more times. The issue is my cloth map is black (see image). Everything on it loads fine, it's like the actually texture for the map itself isn't loading. Seem to remember this being an issue with the ATI control pane

60 spells in pretty on par with most standard game releases these days. I mean more is always nice and content, content, content and all that... But it's something they have promised to expand on (And the community will to with the mod tools) so I'm not too worried.

There are several problems with leaving it to the modding community though. Not everyone has the technical aptitude to mod their game. Many are also afraid to download mods made by other players in case they brake the game. A lot in both parties don't want to because think the end result is cheating (And without some sort of enforced limit on what abilities you can give the race, it possibly is). So you have a whole chunk of players there that simply do not have access to this feature at all

Uh Brad did say that the "exclusive" content would become available to "everyone" eventually. People who ordered form best buy just get earlier. Pay attention people.

There is simple way to test it. First fill your bathtub with water. Now place your computer in it. Did your computer float? If yes then that probably wasn't your computer, try again. Okay did your computer sink? This is a clear sign that you can't run elemental, because some idiot ruined your computer by submerging it in water. Seriously though, you can install and play elemental on all your computers with no hassles. The game should run fine, but you ma

You can definitely pick them up through quests, even if you already have them (in the last release)... Not sure about researching them though.

Maybe it something we can mod in fairly easily. With the ability to raise and lower land it would be cool to have terrain affected by weather patterns Alpha Centuri style. You've got an enemy living to the East? Raise a mountain between you and him so clouds build up on your side making the land more fertile while his dries out and becomes desert. It's not a violation of the non aggression treaty. :-P

I was actually looking forwards to good modern 4X TBS game with decent multiplayer support. But I here the multiplayer has been gimped a bit... Still I'll wait and see. Might not be as bad as I was lead to believe, and even if it is... Maybe it something the mod tools can fix. Worst case scenario I'll still probably enjoy the single player sandbox on the nights we just can't get HoMM3 to recognise the network.

It's Australia... So traditionally... 3-6 months after everyone else. :-P Seriously though once the distributor has the game boxes, they'll want them on the street as quickly as possible (Storage is not cheep) so probably within the next week or two they'll start showing in whatever stores agreed to stock it.
^^well thats intriguing... out of curiosity, is there any connection between the campaign and the rest of the game? will my coveted items from one, be accessible in the other?
Yes, will I be able to bring my adventuring party of friends carrying all my barrels of gold and magic jewellery along? Not to mention my precious recently aquired knowledge of siege mechanics...

I'm being Facetious. :-P Most the ones I bought you can't get any way other then ordering online and shipping them in, and the others just worked out cheaper this way. But to get them all as cheap as possible you have to spend so much money! The irony... But that's business.

I haven't been able to find any brick and mortar selling the regular edition. Eb's and GAME don't have it. Makes the odds of getting the limited edition anywhere other then impulse rather slim (You know given the current exchange rate, even with the $20 shipping it still probably works out cheaper that way you know).

You absolutely could do it if you wanted to. But it's a challenge. A big uphill challenge. Eventually there will be people who succeed at it. But the game isn't specifically designed to support it.

I think in theory you could. But the game will be rather hard. Your technology rate would be abysmal limiting your adventurer research, and without a town to buy items from you'd be limited to what you could pick up from low level goody huts and quest (You need adventure research to access the better ones). In short yes you could do it, but it will take a long time to get anywhere (If you can survive that long).

Ferang I don't think they intended for people who had the beta installed to lose that installation during the downtime. Personally I didn't, so I don't know why other people did... But I'm quite certain Frogboy said anyone with the beta installed already could play it between now and the release. Have the faux update uninstall it so it can't be played does not sound like it's by design at all.

You guys sure are powering away there. On the issue of fun, what about fun we make ourselves? Like names. If I was to hypotheticaly name my city "The Outhouse" and I was to recieve a message that went something like "You lost a unit in The Outhouse", am I having too much fun? :-P
