Hey folks, EA sent me a couple beta keys for this weekend's Darkspore beta test event. I believe they will let you into any betas down the road as well, though release is in a couple weeks. In any case, I don't need the keys so if you're curious about the game and want to take a look, just post here and I'll PM you the key and registration instructions. I have 2 keys, first come first serve!

How often we non-credit cards owner have asked you to let us pre-order (buy) with PayPal or (enter other money transfer service here). Do I really have to pass on that beta stage of yours again, because I can't pre-order? Oh boy, come on - don't get me wrong, I know the stuff about the fi

Steam Guard doesn't affect your ability to play games at all. It's only for authorizing one computer to make major account modifications. You can still log into your account on multiple computers and play games, but only 1 would be able to change passwords, email addy, payment info, etc. It's worth noting that Steam Guard uses a hardware solution provided by some of Intel's newer chips, so most people still won't have access to it for quite a while until they upgrade.

What exactly are these tips for? It sounds like they're "tips for leveling up fastest by minimizing town trips". Certainly not tips for how to have the most fun. :)

Splitting MP from SP is an idea doomed to epic failure. How do you make it work? Okay, the person who only wants SP can buy the base game and not pay for MP. Great for him. What about the person who only wants MP? Will he have to buy the base game + MP, thus paying more for 2 game modes when he's only interested in playing one? Or if MP is a separate "module" game and doesn't require the purchase of SP, how can you ever hope to do fair pricing? SP generally takes the most money to develop (mo

So long as they want money up front, it's not going to draw my attention from Rift.
I'd definitely get Rift if I wasn't waiting for SW: TOR and Guild Wars 2, I very much enjoyed it during the betas.

I'd wait until the mission maker actually releases, ID. Right now it's still in testing. They did add a bunch of iconic refits, like the "Future" Enterprise from when Picard was jumping back and forth in time, the one that had a third nacelle and it shoots a big beam, also a Defiant refit so you can actually use it a viable high-tier ship. They've also added Fluidic Space in one of their episode arcs which looks pretty good, and a few equipment sets that change the appearance of your ship (on

Is this a function of Windows or is it a third party program that creates the list of executables you mentioned in your post? Cheers
It's a function of Windows. Flagging your executable as LAA (Large Addressing Aware) basically tells Windows that it can give it about an ext

I've been following some improvements, and it's sounding a lot better but I have not been back yet. I think once they finally release the mission maker so people can make their own, it might finally be worth playing again, since the original release missions are all pretty bland and there are a lot of players with time on their hands and the right amount of creativity to make some really awesome adventures. Ground combat is being redesigned right now too, and that will help a lot but

I really think people should temper their expectations a bit. We would all like major engine redesigns to allow for scripting, multithreading, and 64-bit executable.. but an expansion is an expansion, resources are still limited and these are major changes for an already old engine. They are just extremely unlikely to happen. We already know from a teaser interview a long time ago that IC's next game is not Sins 2, which means this engine won't be in use, and by the time they do start on Sins

Fighters have no collision detection for performance purposes, and that's unlikely to change.

I also agree with Tridus. I don't understand why you insist that core features of the game don't work in MP. The vast majority of people who will be playing MP will be doing so co-operatively with their friends, not competitively. Elemental will never be a competitive MP game, it should not even be in consideration. In that light, it makes no sense to cut out quests or anything else for co-op MP. If you really want MP to "go in a different direction", do it on top of the base co-op ga
My main is near being able to fly a strategic cruiser which can change load out and configuration on the fly.
It's not really on the fly. When you buy the ship you assemble it with the 5 subsystems of your choice. In order to change the subsystems you need to repackage the ship, which will cost you any rigs you have attached to it. They're still awesome ships, though. :)
Minmatar use mostly speed and projectile weapons. Some use pr

They get people hooked by making things SEEM reasonable early on, but once you hit a certain point you have to choose between paying or insane grinding. People rationalize this by thinking it's no different than spending money on other games, forgetting the entire reason they started was because it was supposed
