- game version DA 1.61: focus does NOT transfer production points from asteroid mines to research. Iztok, v1.61: Focus WILL transfer production points from asteroid mines (which are essentially industrial sector assets) to research. However the amount of point production from the mines is proportional to the combined military and social slider positions, with fractions rounded down, just as if they were factories. So there has to be SOME i

Hey! Can we have Decoder Rings? Like the Captain Midnight fan club? How about anyone who actually owned one is an automatic honorary Gerontocratan? [cough. cough. ] Maybe we can offer Fratz one as a bribe? drrider (Sorry - weird childhood flashback)
What point? That slavery is inherently bad...to a Drengin?...for whom it has been an ingrained norm underpinning their cultural infrastructure for over 100,000 years? I feel certain that there would be Drengin county extension service reps who would teach 'Good' slave-husbandry techniques and attitudes, and decry against 'Evil' treatment of loyal and valuable slave-stock. But I don't think it would enter the head of the most ethical, reformed, clean-living, (dare-I-say)... vegetari
Recently I use those hulls as a frame for constructor modules for upgrading close econ starbases. But for warships I don't use them at all. BR, Iztok Oh. Tiny's. I build hundreds of my Builder_Lite design every game. I use a Small frame Builder (or Builder-x or Builder-xx, as the range goes up) to pioneer (hmm...may have to change ship class to that name) distant resources and other SB loactions. Once there is a barebones SB establi
Could someone tell me a bit more about TotalGaming.Net tokens? Are they only good for 'download only' versions, or could I use them to purchase the 'download + CD (boxed)' version? I like to eventually have the box and hard manual, I want to give Stardock the direct business because its more profitable, and the Totalgaming token discount would be nice. I'm sure that I would make enough purchases over the next year to more than use my membership tokens, IF I can use them to o
IIRC, the only way I could access the deal was through that email's links. Just going to the Stardock store didn't give me that option. Since the email came out in late August and said "limited time," I'm assuming it's no longer valid. You could try writing Stardock and asking. The combo deal is currently available via the Stardock store. drrider
Just remember - the game race that the Gerontocracy have the most in common with are... The Dread Lords. Our galaxy - our rules. drrider "Old age and..." - if you don't know the rest, you're too young to have an opinion.
Set everything to Rare. Believe me, too many colonies to manage will NOT be your problem. And starbases will seem much more important! drrider
Are you speaking of the argument that 'thought' is faster than light, because we can imagine and envision crossing vast distances much faster than light can actually cross them? drrider
Hey! I tried to get it back to dealing with silly. Now you're on your own. Oh, well, maybe that IS politics. drrider
Aye. Stardock is definitly my most trusted game developer right now. I wouldn't be giving Sins of a Solar Empire such a close look if they weren't involved. Recalling that Stardock is not acting so much as developer on Sins, but rather more producer / distributor, with some development consultancy. drrider
this would go a long way toward making each game a unique experience (well, more so than they already are). Yea, glad you got that parenthetical in there, ghost. And TA is coming... drrider
I keep meaning to go back to Andromeda, get some DVDs, and watch it straight through. I got lost from it after the second season. I don't know if I can take the morphing of Ronnie away from the Lexia Doig avatar, though. It does have the distinction of having the most beautiful central starship in all of the 45 or so years of media SF that I can remember. drrider
After my 1st 2 games I decided that pure scouts weren't worth the yard space. However, I research Sensors and Ions very early and then get some extra scout/surveys out there. Anomalies can stretch the bank account for a loong time. drrider
oh no, it's turning into a political thread! Don't worry. Political discussion bores me pretty quickly compared to gaming. Also I hate long-distance exchanges of opinion where its a given that no one is going to be convinced of anything soon. If I'm stirred, I'll sometimes get off one summation of thought on the subject (done), then stop and just read and mull any further info that emerges. So, I actually kinda like the tounge in cheek parts
Oh, you should try to get their economic and research treaties, if you don't already have them. That way you can benefit a little from the event. drrider
BTW, no one seems to know exactly what the growth rate in bonuses from the artifact event is, but from observation I believe it is something like a 1% bonus per week to one of their racial characteristics, i.e. influence, defense, attack, economics, trade, diplomacy, etc. drrider
how long do I have before they start getting really powerful. I guess what I should ask is how much do their abilities increase per week or per month, thanks again. Don't worry about it. They are your best trading partner, an important component in your current strength. a) the effects of the event are quite slow. b) the event tends to add a bit of prejudice against them with every other AI. c) the Arceans don't get along the best with any other war
I see the 10% bonus on my planets Really? Is this with the new beta? Because Iztok and I have independently tested this on multiple occasions with DA 1.61, and it does not occur. It doesn't show up in the research totals on any screen, nor is it 'invisibly' deducted from treasury, nor does it change the rate at which the crrent research topic becomes available. Note that the 10% manufacturing bonus from

Personally I think democracy will evolve into something or die. Democracy works up until the masses start voting themselves bread and circuses... withness Athens. Democracy works up until the point where it is not feasible for the clear majority of citizens to consider and vote upon the actions to be taken relative to all major issues. Up until that point, folk tend to be relatively satisfied with government courses of action even if it is not the one t
A persons race should never be somthing affecting law not under any circumstances. You would think the human race would have learnt that by now! Native title should be looked at in terms of an individual persons inheritance, handed down from their parents, race not being a factor in any way. Not to be a gadfly but: What about those cultures in which individual ownership is not the general cultural standard for holding / managing / maintaining proper
Sorry, that was supposed to be: [ Ahem! ? ] drrider (of Altaria)

Mystic, you are waay too vet a player to still be only doing DL. Hope you have at least ordered the DA / TA combo deal. drrider
