I do not get what it is that makes Vista worth the money if you already have XP? (Apart from the vaguely described fantasies of Microsoft that is)? Well, there is the fact that MS usually ceases major support (read: security patches, driver development assistance) for their last OS 3-4 years after the market date of the latest OS. Anyone tried to get MS to answer a question about W98SE recently? Ain't happening. drrider

First, left click on the ship, if it is not already the focus (light blue circle). Second, right click on the destination. Third, save the game. Forth, on the Introduction Screen Menu, click the button marked tutorial. Honest, nobody in this forum minds helping with the tricky parts, but this game is way to complex for anyone to expect to dive into and figure everything

They are very research intensive techs, but there are AIs (Yor, Iconians) who begin the game with some of the capabilities (Barren, Aqua, Toxic). In addition, the native abilities and production allocation settings of the various AI races would have had major impact on their research time. For example: in my typical start setup, starting without X. Biology but with a research intensive (really intensive) race, I would not expect it to take me more than 40 weeks to get any one of the

there is now way to direct or concentrate fire in tactical battles. . The way the DA combat system works, fire is ALWAYS concentrated automatically, regrdles of what you think you are seeing. Each race has a unique tree that is personal to them. . This is one of the main aspects of the TA expansion due in November. i think dmg types should be modified so dmg is acros

Hitler's Germany was in no way technologically inferior to the allies. Its really about money. Actually, it was , but it had waay more to do with several decades of global economics than it did with form of government. Its just that in looking at the period of WWII, war buffs tend to focus on a few specific outstanding military devices, and overlook all the liberal democracies advantages in basic processes, production technology, martime t

Beat suicidal first, then you can come back to the forum with your above request. Mysikmind: I admit I only played (and won and posted) a suicidal game once, but I was not aware that this was a prerequisite for posting. I like playing my games on a level I can easily beat because this leaves me more room for making mistakes. I think his point was that you are suggesting a global change that potentially makes the

DivineWrath: Isn't the option you're looking for the 'sentry' command (wakes up on hostiles AND friendlies)...or are you requesting that the guard option stays in constant effect until the player turns it off...not just when the first unfriendly ship is sighted? Yes, I want a guard command that stays in constant effect until I turn it off. Sentry is the opposite of what I want. The version of this that I would like to see would leave the de

I don't know if this is a feature that could make it to the full 1.7, but i'd really want to be able to force other races to break up alliances with each other(allied races don't show up in the "attack race" options..). It's really annoying when i'm allied with someone, and i get attacked by a race who is allied with my ally, and i can't tell him to assist me in any way. Infact, i think it is a bug. I was allied with the Krynn who in turn were allied with the

here is another thing to ponder. a black holes gravity is so strong that nothing can escape from it. but in reality there is one thing that does escape. in fact the bigger the black hole the more of it escapes. More riddles? The question for the astrophysicists to ponder is: is the gravity coming out or going in? drrider

That is a picture of my cat Scratch (named so because we called him the devil-kitten), taken about 6 months ago when he was very small. He has been missing for over a month now. My gf and I are extremely upset about it...but at this point I dont have much hope that we'll be seeing him again. In the picture he looks quite evil, but in actuality he was just yawning. Don't give up hope (though don't be an idiot about it, either <img src="http://images.sta

Befor mega events came out on of the devs said it incressed every ability by 1% each turn, this may have been changed. kryo commented just yesterday in a different thread: 2 versions of the event, one regular event, one mega. Regular - 1% on any one of the range of civ characteristics (diplo, influence, defense, econ, etc) each turn Mega - 1% on ALL civ characteristics each turn. drrider

You don't mean light carrier (Princeton class), you mean escort carrier (among others, Casblanca class). Also, although a couple of dozen jeep carriers were built on Liberty ship hulls, during the ramp up from experiment/conversion to purposeful porduction, the majority (69 out of 103 - which included the early Brit conversions) were purpose designed and built carriers. The jeep and the Sherman were designs that ran and ran and ran. And that feature was part of the design in

what i mean is if you put a way point on a resource, and it is set to form fleet. the computer gets confused and tries to form a fleet and make a star base if you send a constructor in.[ (Citizen)BelanosSeptember 20, 2007 19:52:45Reply #1 Well yeah, that's what Constructors do. As soon as they reach a resource they'll automatically try to build a star base. Just don't use those locations for anything else. There's plenty of room on a map to create f

I had an e-mail question to Sales about ways of purchasing Twilight with tokens (yes for download). The answer strongly implied that they expected that there would be a GalCiv2 combined package. I have written for specific confirmation of that point. It will make the difference whether I order the CD or just the download. drrider

the jeep was cheep, the Sherman was cheep, the light carrier(jeep carrier) was cheep, and the liberty ships were cheep. What makes you think that these characteristics do not represent superior quality, in a grand application of technological superiority sense? The Sherman, for instance. It was specifically tweaked in design to be, yes, reasonably priced. But more importantly, to run further on a tank of fuel, to run faster on on the kinds

we didn't win world war two with quality. we won it with quantity. although it could be agrued it was quality quantity. There is actually a significant school of historians who feel differently. Of course, one of the difficult and facinating things about studying WWII is that the technologies and economics and military cultures of all of the major participants are so different, in multifaceted ways. They just don't fit on a simple "quality-----quantit

If the sun suddenly dissapeared, lets say because aliens teleported it to their galaxy, we would not know it for about 9 minutes! I just wonder if Earth would still continue orbiting the sun for 9 minutes as well? Gravity continuing for 9 minutes just the same as the light? THIS is a GREAT question! Any of the academics out their have a glimmer of what answer current astrophysical thought would support?? drrider
