I looked at the Sales page again. If you have a Stardock Sales account and password, which is different from your Metaverse-and-forums GalCiv2 account, you may be able to sign on to your Stardock Sales account and see out-standing orders. Unfortunately, you don't need a Sales account to order individual items, so you likely do not have one. You might be able to register a new one, however, and have it connect to your existing order information.

The manual is probablly outdated considering all of the paatches that have been put into the game. I still have my original manual. It would be a bit dated, but not OUTdated, especially if it is available in his milk tongue. You mainly want a manual to get you through basic mechanics, screen tools, conceptual relationships. None of that has changed. What's changed is things like exact racial bonus values, point values or bonus valoues of som

Next time you see it, you need to stop right then and save a debug.err to mail off to Carielf. It needs to be before you go on to the next turn. Actually you should get one from before and one from after. And send her the save game also. drrider

Well, I can tell you that there is not even a remnant of related html code in the PlanetImprovements.html file for either DL or DA. Other items that were once in beta versions of GalCiv II ARE there, just commented out. Therefore I suspect, if this was a GalCiv original item, it was decided to leave it out of GC2 before it ever went beta. I've never seen any of the old hands mention it, either. Consider that in GalCiv2 you have the race choice option of the Yor, and to a less

For those who care about realism (and I don't), you can call it a 'desperation' bonus or whatever. I believe that I am the one who first posted this concept, and I think of it as the "Pearl Harbor was your Worst Nightmare, or Don't Tread On Me" bonus. (Substitute your own preferred sneak attacks for political correctness or generational relevance.) And to elaborate just a bit on my original intent, I did not mean that defenses on subsequent TU

I have noticed the AI missing anomalies as well. I'm not sure, but it seems like they may be popping into existence. I play most of the game with the map zoomed out, and every once in a while, an anomaly will appear where none were before. Yes, that is one of the major announced and anticipated features of this update. It is in all the preliminary announcements and in the initial Change Log. From the top post in this thread: "+ NEW: Anomal

Sympatheic though I may be, is there a reason this was not posted in the Off-Topic forum? drrider

Listen to Purge (there IS no better player; =well= Wyndstar??), and take awhile to read the top post in this thread a couple of times. https://forums.galciv2.com/?forumid=346&aid=152796 Istok tries to keep it up to date with everything that has been learned about how production works (including a few 'unintended features'). so shields can become hammers, right? is the reverse true? FWIW, despite what my fellows may have im

I suggest you go to the purchase section of the site. Click on Preorder. At the bottom of the Stardock Store page that comes up, click on Contact Us. Ask your question directly of Stardock Sales. That's all that kryo is going to be able to tell you to do. And he's probably not going to see your post until Monday. Without an e-mailed order number, I'm not sure there is any other way to look it up without contacting Sales. drrider

No they don't! All you need to research is: Xeno Research -> Stellar Cartography -> Sensors And...every race except the Terrans (and possibly a Custom) starts with Stellar Cartography, so you can generally research it right away. Takes 100 tp. For comparison with an early game tech that IS expensive, Extreme Colonization costs 1000 tp. The first ship I actually build is always a Survey equipped long-range explorer. (OK, som

Back to the original post. I'm running 1.61 (well, 1.70a[b] now). Since I often use tiny constructors all over the place, and often use an upgrading succession of small system defense craft, I often see tiny and small craft on the same screen as large and huge. I don't recall any time recently that anything as seemed out of scale. drrider

The gold edition manual is included as .pdf in the download, so I recommend you just buy the gold edition in on-line format. print the manual out if you feel you need it that way. If you feel compelled to go the other route, I have owned all versions. the dark avatar/gold edition manual is about 10% different than the original, mostly in added sections to chapters, added capabilities (like how to create a custom opponent race, which is a large additional section). That havi

Also, have you updated to the latest production version, 1.61? Also, are you using Vista, and an Nvidia video solution? If so, its essential to get the latest drivers. drrider

Now I suppose you might call it a small exploit when your secondary planet is 2 spaces from your homeworld, and you use this 'feature' to shuttle a colonist or transport to entirely populate the second world in one turn. But you pay for it in extra mouse clicking, honest , Cari, and I suffer from carpal tunnel so its a real hardship, and I DO have to build an extra colonist to make it work, and...and... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Wink.gif"

Its been well known for a long time (certainly since mid last year) and the staff have chosen to leave it in. (Not to mention Carielf's no-so-defacto blessing,...and the fact that the planet orbit code would probably have to be entirely rewritten to weed it out. ) drrider

Cari, Something wierd is going on with the SDC update page and this beta build. When I updated to beta 3 (1.70b[b].003), the SDC flipped the versions listed in 'Installed' and 'Available' and retained the Update button. It allowed me to run Update again, and flipped the versions between 'Installed' and 'Available' again. This continued ad infinitum through several update cycles until sleepy me realized what was apparently going on a stopped after loading beta 3 again.

ships set to sentry do not activate when an enemy comes by. you have to set them on guard. From the Manual, page 53: " Sentry: This tells a ship to be idle until another ship - friendly or enemy - comes near." drrider

25 Replies 9,699 Views

That's right. I forgot about the auto attack option on the ship details. I never use it because it is too dangerous unless you KNOW you have an undefeatable super hunk ship/fleet. And you don't get to tailor your targets. drrider

25 Replies 9,699 Views

well that makes sense - sb's aren't orbital fleet managers too. My only remaining question that when there are ships in sentry mode, they don't seem to go out and engage the enemy. If i'm not careful, the enemy can sneak up on me without me even knowing. Doesn't sentry mode mean my ships are supposed to seek them out when they appear? Nope, and it never says that in the documentation. Sentry = inactive and won't be focused on as the ga

Remember that originally there was not going to be a public beta on TA, only a 'by invitation only'. So the limited public beta that Brad recently mentioned will probably be very close to release. Also, as I understand it, other developers are working on TA, and Cari is carrying the ball on v.1.7. So you really can't tell much about the readiness of TA from the 1.7 tweaking. Since TA is an 'overlay' expansion, not a new engine, whatever Cari tweaks for 1.7 will be there, working unde
