When the host leaves you can continue to play, ONLY IF some one else can host, (i.e. they must not have a firewall(usually it's a firewall)), and most people on bnet cannot host. In some cases when everyone leaves, you SOMETIMES get a server split that allows you to play alone, but not always. And yes you are right when your connection gets terminated you are forced to quit, WHICH is what happens when a host leaves and no one else can host. Not only have I played on bnet since

Well I hate to destroy your vision about minotaurs, but they are essentially the melee creep, they aren't a race. Also, any relation to the mysterious Frenchman?

And to answer the guy the crazies missed, Demigod was originally made for multilayer, but with Stardock's influence, there is supposedly a very cool/deep/interesting single player in the making.

Well I have to comment, first 'dota player' learn to speak intelligently, spell 'you' fully and people will give you more respect. Now, to point one thing out to Windexglow, when people left and then you got kicked, what probably happened is the host left, no one else could host, and the game ended as a whole. And the concept used by dota (i.e. AoS style maps) was at the time very innovative. And while enjoy DotA I give it a meh it's ok rating, demigod is definitely going to pr

Most likely the 'map editor' would probably be something to bring together stuff and do final game play stuff with. As if you look at the environment art dev thread, they make the map in one piece and then game play stuff is added on. (or at least that what I got out of it.) So if there is a map editor it's most likely going to be mostly a converter to the official map format, with a little game play tuning options.

Tai_Waukosen Your thinking of a war craft 3 map kind of beta, Not a we want to make sure the game RUNS and crashes now are a good thing (as the can fix them early) kind of beta, which is what this is going to be. We're not going to be (seriously) tweaking thinks like hot keys, ui, and hero balance until probably a month or two before release.

On the point of the map structure, there are objectives or at least so has been hinted, it has also been hinted that (ai) armies are more influence-able, both of these aspects might mitigate that factor. For example there could very easily be 5 objectives and you have an army to 3 (1 mid 1 to each opponent) you could attack one opponent by using the middle lane from the middle, for sides, or the sides to attack the middle player. Whats to say you can't channel all your power to the center of the

Hey I remember hearing about Demigod being at PAX and that it was playable? can anyone confirm that? Because I live in the area and might show up if it is... that and the fact that there will be plenty of other developers there. (Oh and what would be the best day do you think)

What would be really cool is if it is possible to have more than 2 teams on a map i.e. (maybe, 8 way FFA), 2v2v2v2, or 3v3v3. Now granted this may raise some problems, as what art assets do you use? as you appear to have good (blue) and evil(red).. order (green), chaos (yellow)? But balance wise it shouldn't be too bad, and it would allow for more replay-ability (and hell for single player, 3/4 way maps would make epic battles), and would require new tactics and strategies from th

I think that it is possible to somehow influence the ai troops, as hinted in posts by devs, if this is as simple as point based (i.e. three points to pick from) voting system, out right control, items, abilities, generals only(mixed with a previous example), or small portions of the main army is unknown. (by the way devs: an item/ability that let you control a group of the ai troops would be useful, it would make a great general item... damn now you got me thinking, <br/

Thats what they hope to test with beta 1, the supcom engine was a beast (thats what demigod is based off of) it required 2 cpu's and a decently good video card to run well... Beta 1 is to see if they've successfully optimized and scaled the engine, as well as engine bug testing.

Yes, but the map as a whole belongs to DotA's developers and their community, the hours they've spent making, designing it, bug testing it, playing it, it's theirs not some conglomerate's who didn't even bother putting a clause in the license agreement. (Remember I'm arguing the fact that it DOESN'T belong to blizzard, not that it does belongs to Icefrog)

On the point of other life on planets, my only hope is that we don't just nuke them out of existence and then take take the planet for our own, a lot of good books are on these subjects. In one a space ship discovers a rare type race, but they are exceptionally brutal because of the current empire, do they kill them? do they rescue a few and kill the rest? or do they let them live and hope they don't come knocking a couple thousand years later? (of course the book ends up with the human

By the way an analogy for DotA players: Every hero in DotA is an assassin type hero (some blur the lines a little), look at the diversity there. Now add another type of hero: even more diversity. DotA is less diverse than demigod (though it may take awhile to get there, but it has the potential)

Blizzard doesn't technically own DotA, the intellectual rights of the code, fluff, and new game play concepts belong to ice frog, or one of the other developers. But the map itself is blizzards technology so they technically own the technology, but DotA as a game is a third party mod owned by it's developers and community. Also how do you know what the triggers of their newest versions look like? Either: A) you're talking about an out dated version (about 2 years or so) b)
You can level up all the skills but only use 4 at a time then? I'm kind of confused there. Why not just have a bar of all the skills going down the middle when there is so few, and not have a whole separate window you open? Guess I have to see it.
I think what your missing is the fact passives and synergy 'skills' aren't on this bar. For example a passive poison ability for unclean beast wouldn't be on it. Or a synergy skill for torch bearer that increase
