AFAIK it's been like that for a long time. Maybe some of the players that have been around longer than me can shed some additional light on this. I suppose the way to look at it is, you have to sacrifice flipping planets for the 100% civilization-wide economy bonus it gives you.

It, in fact, makes flipping planets much harder.

Thanks guys. It's an interesting setup. Stars are rare. Planets are occasional. Habitable planets are abundant. 9 opponents, 8 minors. This gives you a map that has 1 star system per opponent with 3 additional star systems containing all the minors. At the end you only wind up with about 30 planets, but if you take all the minors and all your opponents homeworlds you'll have 18 capital worlds. Rush the minors early and you've got it won. Then score grind.

I got my MVL submission in early this round so I've been plugging away at some games for the Empire. SB, while you were off keeping what happens in Vegas, in Vegas, we've crept up a bit in the altmeta. It's just a matter of time before we pass my old empire, the HCH. Dionysus

Personally I will not be using anything but stock races in further rounds. I used stock races this round and I submitted what I think is a pretty good game. If it put me at a disadvantage, so be it. I really think the easiest way to resolve this is not to leave it up to the player. Use stock races only. If we do have a vote and this is a choice, that is the way I would vote. Regardless, my interpretation of Mumble's suggested rule is stock races only.

My opinion is pretty black and white. All MVL games should be played with stock races. The custom stuff and ARC are all well and good. It's fun. It mixes things up. Good stuff that gives the game great replay value. Use it all you want. Just not in the MVL. For the record. A ruling any which way, would not cause me to opt out of the MVL.
