Schod, there's just a little point I'd like to make, and it might be outdated, but I'll try anyway... I understand your frustration (for what it's worth) but I don't think the devs lied, or even mislead. Recall the quote about the only limit to ships being that of the system? Well, the actual statement said that this was a characteristic of the engine, not directly of the game. The engine easily allows such huge numbers, regardless of whether or not the game itself does. I think that's under

Everyone! Listen! The timer at the top of the page is only calculated from your system clock. If what some of you are saying were correct, you could set your system time ahead a day and the file would be instantly downloadable. Neat idea, but unfortunately not. The timer at the top of the page is in no way related to the exact time the file becomes downloadable except that it is an approximate indicator, again based on your system time.
Oh goody! A like-minded space strategist :P *salute*
4th of November? Surely you mean the 4th of February?
Remember that the devs did actually include the z-axis for movement, as other discussion points in this thread have stated. And why would z axis movement be bs? It just doesn't make sense. I've never seen reason in a space game, of all things, to take out an entire dimension of movement because it's "too complex". Hell, do you realize how shallow HW/2 would be without it's z-axis? How shallow Nexus would be? How shallow the tactical battles of MOO3 already are? Despite the fact that mos
Thank you :)
Sins will be published under Auran in Australia. Incidentally, I recently read that Auran was in a bad way, having downsized a whole lot of employees, and may indeed be dissolved. Does anyone have any information on this?
That I will... ...and have. Speechless, of course.
You're quite welcome :) And don't worry about forgiveness or anything like that from any of us - besides, we are all mere gamers, below the level of the godlike developers :P
I've found the same thing, and also only have Halo 2 on Windows Live. I think IC and Stardock would make sure about making their own browser here :P They've always shown such commitment to their games (not that companies allowing Windows Live or any other such browsers don't do this).
True! I didn't notice that. It seems this topic is dead.
Good :) I won't have anyone contradicting my prized Westwood :P JK. To each their own.
I agree; the first real RTS is widely credited to be Dune 2. C&C was one of the first, but not the first (Westwood developed both games).
This is mainly to the devs, as a question, but any other input is welcome. It's been said that Sins would be released in Australia under Auran, right? Well, I have here a December 18, 2007 article stating that Auran has closed down; http://www.kotaku.com.au/games/2007/12/exauran_dev_auctions_redundanc.html Could you please look into this? Or am I misinformed? Thanks.
jperzio, could you please talk in full sentences? Nothing is more annoying (to me, anyway) than someone who doesn't bother to make sense out of their own thoughts. It indicates criminal laziness and an innate disrespect for the English language, even on the internet. Terribly sorry to bother you. Enjoy the superweapons! :P
I didn't know there was one (for Nexus)! I'm sure to go check it out.
Well, think about it. If defending a planet in full 3D would be a nightmare, doesn't that give you more attack opportunities? Thus you could easily defeat a turtle who forgot to look "up"... neat, eh? Besides, it makes the game more realistic. One should never forget in space that one doesn't have a proprioceptory frame of reference.
Actually the homeworld storyline was supposed to be based off the old BSG series, but they couldnt get the rights from the creators to do so so they came up with a new storyline that is very similar to BSG but different in some ways so they couldnt be sued for copyright violations
Remember that BSG was originally created by a Mormon, wasn't it? (I hope I'm right here, or I'm in for a flogging.) For example, note the 12 tribes reference... Homeworld (original) a
Well, it makes more sense to me if they are spherical anyway... Yeah, I get how there usually isn't a reason to, but the knowledge that it's possible is comforting to a space-game zealot like me :P Of course, you could say that it doubles the flanking opportunities, couldn't you?
Great vid, thanks! One of the best I've seen, incidentally. I disagree with Bob about the z-axis... why should it be an annoyance? But I agree that I can live without the total freedom of movement... not that it's bad. I understand that the bomber is steering "up", but the question I was asking (and now have answered thanks to Ron) is whether or not the play can actually order the bomber (or any other vessel, for that matter) to move "above" the common x-y plane, or indeed below it.
Calm down; vain was stating what a third party might think at first impression, though to be entirely honest the delay of a demo means to me that they spent so much more time on getting the game just right to focus on releasing a demo... I see it as a more positive thing. vain, are your views based on fellow game-testers or on the public?
Thank you; the fact that it exists is enough for me and is about a ton more motivation to buy the game, not that I wouldn't have anyway.
Point taken - I revise my view :P Thanks!
Hi guys; Just wondering; I've read conflicting information on this point, and, having not played the beta, I am somewhat confused. Is there a way to utilize the z-axis, at least within gravity wells? It was that feature that most excited me about HW when it first came out and I still love knowing I can flank from above or below. Thanks!
