I don't want to take sides, and I acknowledge I haven't played the game and can't really make a valid strategic comment, but I must admit that if I saw an opponent building a huge fleet, I certainly wouldn't 1) Wait for a *completed* siege fleet to attack me; their fleet is specifically designed, by its nature, to go for a suicide run on my planet and kill it off. So clearly I wouldn't want the opponent to realize this goal. 2) Try to attack the *completed* fleet (regardless of whether t

...well, I suppose when you put it like that - I guess the pros do outweigh the cons!
Good! ALL HAIL IRONCLAD AND STARDOCK!
We've heard the publisher will be Auran. And as I said, there are other products on EB Aus that come out in May, June, etc. But psugar resolved it :P
On the other hand, remember that in a novel a useful plot device was like "we need to get to the enemy planet.... is there any way to push through them quickly before they realize we're there?" Maybe? Or am I talking through my forehead here?
*stubborn* *mutters something about an insult to astronomy*
Point taken... but I still refuse to call it a galaxy :P
Yeah... but still; "map" is easier and faster, isn't it? Hmm... I'll prefer to think of these things as simple "star groups" :P To each his own, I suppose...
Excellent idea! I hope he tries it.
Just a point: why are the entire maps referred to as galaxies? aren't they just a collection of 3 or 4 stars? That's too small even to call a star cluster.
Thank you, sir :) You reassurance is comforting :P
Yeah, that's U.S. Nothing on the Aus website for EB.
Hi guys; This is probably too big a deal to be made, seeing that SoaSE only gets released retail in Australia in April, but is there any significance in the fact that Sins isn't listed at all on EB's website (EB Aus, that is). I would point out there are games on their "coming soon" list that are scheduled for release in May, June, or have TBC listings. Any significance here? Thanks again, Sib
No they didn't. Capital ships were bomber-chowder.
...that might be because bombers are specifically designed to blow up frigates and cap ships. By the largest cap ships I mean ships like the Battlecruisers. They had PD. Just not enough to support themselves against a bomber onslaught... I didn't say it was sufficient PD; they just had PD. I believe it took the form of pulsar beams (which, at the very least, can fend off corvettes and fighters, but clearly not a whole
About the HP of ships, couldn't one just quickly mod the HP down if one really thinks he can't stop it?
By the way, the link to that review is, as given elsewhere: http://www.gamedaily.com/games/sins-of-a-solar-empire/pc/game-reviews/review/5553/1948/
Hi guys, Just a quick question. As far as I understand, in Sins one can have a map with multiple stars, say 3 or so. Correct? If so, why then are the maps referred to as galaxies? GameDaily states:
In Sins, players gain a commanding view of entire galaxies.
...which is patently not true, considering the true size of galaxies. These maps are too small even for "star clusters". Is there something I'm missing here? Note that I'm not complaining about the
Well said, Scynix! Man!
You should know that unbalanced factions ruin the game. All it means is, in multiplayer, people would always use the "best" faction. If anyone ever used a weaker faction, it would be considered a challenge for them. Or did you mean unbalanced as in "different overall strategy"? In that case I would agree with you.
Stiler, there should be a function to browse - but I'm afraid I can't help you since I don't have the game :P
Hef is right, too; neither HW1 nor HW2 had ram frigates, and if they existed in cat, then (excuse my asking) how big a loss is it if Sins ships don't ram? I mean, since we're comparing to the HW games in general, we could say the majority didn't have ramming-built ships, so on that point Sins doesn't "lose out". Although of course in HW1 you could order ships to ram... Again, maybe we should ask the devs about such a feature in upcoming updates or expansions?
You're quite right; the largest Cap ships in HW2 had PD. Perhaps, on the moving and firing point, the devs could come up with a fix?
And before you say you didn't doubt Blair, think about why you said you hoped he was right.
You just don't understand, do you? I said:
I don't think it's all that good an idea to start an argument about "who's right", or even to say that you *hope* they're right with a dev.
You're right, you weren't arguing (the first clause), but you were saying that you *hope* they're right with a dev. Why can't you seem to understand that? Don't you know what the word "or" means? Come on! Think! It's just annoying to see someone totally miss the meaning of a comment again and
You're forgetting to read the whole post again. Look carefully:
or even to say that you *hope* they're right with a dev.
No offence meant, but this is the second time you didn't read the posts as well as you could've to avoid confusion. Otherwise I'm afraid I can't help you with the ports :P I'm kind of useless, eh? Have you tried entering a whole lot of games, or just the one? The former option might tell with whom the problem lies.
