Thanks Shelbygt. When I get home I'll run through the details and send you an email. Appreciate it.

Thx Hippy - can you suggest how? I'm really thick when it comes to settings for the router (the only firewal I use). FWIW, I'm currently trying on my old dinosaur machine with the same results. I think WOM is right about the firewall.

Thanks Y'all for input. WOM nice to hear from you. SD Central won't connect to irc.stardock.com. I'm using port 6667 but all I get is "unable to resolve server". I haven't used the WC browser for quite a while now (the website gives more more screen space. Is there any reason to expect it would work differently? I did try mIRC with the same results. Ain't nuthin' easy! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smiles/Crying.gif

hmm. hasn't connected for me. I've got a hardware firewall, I wonder if that's the problem? I haven't had problems with anything else.

It's been a whole long time and I don't remember how to connect with IRC. irc.stardock.com? Wincustomize browser won't connect. Please remind me.

I'm late throwing my 2 cents in but I too appreciate Mike's precence. Particularly re WB 5 beta. There have been a number of issues which he's responded to. The one that affects me haven't been dealt with yet but I've been reassured that it will be - in time. Patience is easier when you get the feedback he's provided. Kudo's to you Mike! On that n

Threi: indeed...but the same ideal still remains...a lot of people wont pay if they dont need to... Exactly the point isn't it? At this stage, it costs too much to feed those who won't pay. Sure, I can understand their view - if it's free, why pay? Well because someone has to and those who are paying are getting tired of this whole subject - I am anyway. The sooner Stardock makes this a subscriber site the better. I can find l

Autmnmist - you don't need to have a WC subscription to get skins. As has been mentioned by others, WB skins etc can be found from lots of other sites. We happen to think the best ones are here and certainly it's easier to get high quality stuff here than to check any number of other sites but you're not obligated. As I understand it (and the solution I'm in favor of), a WC subscription would be required to download the skins here.

I've subscribed to WC since it's beginning and will continue to do so. Mine doesn't run out for another 7 months at which time I'll renew for sure. Kudo's to Markdotnet for renewing early but IMHO the situation re non-subscribers needs to be resolved. Buying an extra might be good for Stardock (and Brad) in the short run but doesn't resolve the issue. Like most people here, I think that non-subcribers should be given a preview of everythi

I think it's time for this problem to have its own thread. WB5 works fine on my account both at work and at home. None of the versions released so far work on other users on my home machine. Builds a - c will not allow limited users to open wbconfig. This morning, I tried build d which again works fine on my account (admin). I tried running it on my wife's account (also admin) and it simply stopped responding. I wasn't able to kill it through task

piggy-backing here. Other users on my multi-user machine get no permission messages when trying to open wbconfig. If I run-as an administrator, I can get the WB skin chooser but still can't get skins to apply.

Not up to par yet! On my home machine, WB doesn't load. I can open WBConfig under a limited account if I run as myself (administrator). I tried setting my daughter's limited account to an administrative account but it still won't run. Neither of the above would actually change a skin. Rolling back to 4.6 fixes the problem. sigh

My turn. WB5 appeared to install just fine and the new skins are sweet. However, logon studio would crash forcing a hard reboot. Reproducted this several times. Windows default worked fine. In Windows Explorer, the sidebar wouldn't show anything in either the folders view or the search view. Shortcuts view worked fine. Start menu looked like everything was fine but the programs menu wouldn't open. Uninstalling and rol

I'm not going to let anyone sully my relationship with my parents, period. Birth mother or not. Good for you. My wife and her brother are both adopted. Jane has no problem with that and hasn't felt the need to find her birth mother. Helen raised her and Helen is her mother. That's it.

FWIW, if you like Avant Browser (and I certainly do), the developer has put up a version called Dr Orca based on gecko which is very similar. It's only an alpha. Although it seems stable, not everything works quite right yet.

To be fair, Feline has been part of this community for a very long time and has been quite helpful if I recall in the usenet forum to others and I think to Stardock in terms of debugging. In my experience he has been a gentleman and an asset. Perhaps the tone of the title and posts are a tad insulting. IMO, he's earned a certain latitude. Regardless, when a olong-time member of his stature (again, in my opinion anyway) of the community r
