Ok thanks guys. I too loved Homeword one of two RTS games I liked (the other Being the Total War series of games) I'll check out the videos on You tube an probably get it
I loathe Impulse but love Stardock's games. I downloaded Impulse and used it to install Sins, and it never ran again until a few weeks later when the game had to update. Work your way through Impulse, the delete it from startup etc and forget about it forever until the game needs an update.
I never had a problem with Impulse or Steam. I download games from both.
I have played GALCIV2 and Homeworld (all versions) and wanted to know if Sins is similar to either one? Now I now Sins has RTS combat which I'm not a big fan off (don't care for click-fest) so is it slower paced than your typical RTS? OR is it more like a Total Wars in space sort of game?
Actully this sounds promising. But then I like a tough game even if I get wiped in the first few turns.
I really hope that if FE does have Multi-player that they won't force us to use auto-resolve. It is fun to fight another player on the Tactical maps. I can do this in AOW:SM and it is fun. Personally MP should have everything SP has with options to turn off stuff you don't want instead of taking features away to speed the MP game play up, (AKA. Dumb it down.)
Quoting Bellack, reply 241 But the Unit Design (ship Editor) in Galciv 2 was awsome and it was made by Stardock so they can make a good one. I put a lot of hours into Galciv 2 but the ship editor was just an annoyance for me. It was nice if you wanted to play legos but I am more interested in a strategy game. I hated having to go back into it every few turns
AoW:SM, since you brought it up, is a better successor to Master of Magic than WoM is right now (or as the base game will every be, to be frank). I'd suggest picking it up. Master of Magic itself is still a great game, but the AI shows its age. Oh, and before I forget, Dom 3 is indeed worth every penny.
I was not impressed with DOM 3. I hate just sitting back and watch tactical combat run itself. Very
It is a very good game. If you get it goto the AOW Heaven site to download the Unofficial Players patch. There are other goodies you can download to. My friends and I still play this game to this day.

Some of the people "bitching" have spent hours if not days of their time playtesting, modding, AND reporting issues. The fact these severe issues make it through QA into a "final" patch is frustrating beyond belief. I understand there is a difference between a drive-by forum poster who says something&nb

From the more pleasing to the eye art style to the better and more spells, to 10x better and more interesting combat. Now that you mention it, I happen to agree with your comparison of Elemental with a game released in 2004. Game
I don't get why graphics has to pwn gampelay. Last month I started playing Age of Wonders and was surprised at the size of some of those maps. With many of them having three levels to play in (overland, underground, shadow). Yet despite huge maps(x3) filled with hundreds of units and dozens of cities; there is still wide variety between factions. And I've never got an out of memory error like in Civ4 or E:WOM.
I am going to be honest with you Brad but I would have rather have had the option of thousands of units on the battlefield than the option of customizing units. In my opinion, having the ability to customize units obviously killed that idea of having thousands of units but it also killed the individuality of factions. If you had several unit types for each faction rather than customizing units, each faction could have been more unique and you co
Magic - to me the only disappointment was the number of spells, not the system itself. Quantity is more easily fixable then quantity. I'd love Derek to rip off some spells from AOW:SM.
I am 100% in favor of ripping off spells from AOW:SM and feel free to rip off anything else in AOW:SM that you want
I wonder if people really use the customization option of armies so much. I know they did for Galciv2 ship models/moo2 ship design but that's pretty cool... Honestly I rather spend more time on champions/sovereigns/spells... which are cooler than armies.. but i suppose it doesnt hurt to have them. I rather tho resources be channelled into making magic system more complicated and flexible then on this though. <b
No mana cap- Huge issue here. Basically, because mana will be able to stored without limit, the most powerful magic using empire late game will be the empire that never uses magic prior to the late game. Seems a bit counter intuitive to me. While there should be some trade off between storing mana and using mana, the system as it exists seems to go to far, and will discourage any use of mana in the early game for fear of not
Thanks for the update. I like most of the changes but am concerned about a couple of things: Terra-forming spells just seem like dev-wank to show off what an engine can do with deformation. It changes the underlying game too much. Really wish these were dropped. The combat numbers still look very small. Maybe I'm reading too much into it but the small damage number examples lead me to think that tactical combat in FE is not
Quoting Bellack, reply 81 Well I guess different strokes for different folks. For me and several of my friends AOW:SM is the best fantasy 4x game to date which sadly WOM does not yet hold a candle to. And is more fun than MOM. But then we habe modded a lot of units and maps for that game. Thing is, AOW:SM is not a 4x - it's more of a 2-3x, so to speak. It has no technology research (spel
