Ah Masters of Orion 2 was the best TBS space game until Galciv2. I can't tell you how disappointed I was with that piece of crap Master of Orion 3. At the time when MOO3 was annouced I was looking fowared to an updated MOO2 that would be as fun. But when i played it I was very surprised how bad it was. But I am glad I had the CIV series and Age of Wonders:SM to fill my TBS fix until I discovered Galciv2. To tell you the truth I was not impressed with Galciv so I thought the 2nd one would be just
Bellack
I like it. Have not got the lasted expansion but I got the reset. It is my planet bound version of Galciv II :)
Give me the old Constitution class any day.
AOM:SW was not complex either however it was a solid stratagy game while MoM though good was not up to par. And as far as the hexes go I would like the option to toggle them on or off. I would always have them on but that is how I perfer to play.
I have played MoM and I perfered AOW:SM over it. It was more customizable and the general feel of AOW:SM in my opinon was much better.
I agree I love Age of Wonders Shadow Magic. I also hope it comes with an editor to allows us to create all sorts of unitls like in Age of Wonders Shadow Magic.
Well I've been looking for a really good TBS (I hate RTS games) fantasy game. The last good one was Age of Wonders Shadow Magic but the AI is dated. If this fantasy game is anything like Gal II then it should be great. The only thing I ask is to allow us to do our own combat if we choose like in Age of Wonders. I don't want the hands off combat that we have in Gal II (At least make it an option.
Ahh But Conan Online will have Player made cities. Conan Online so far looks like it will be better that Warhammer over all to include PvP
What is the name of this new Fantasy TBS that the makers of GalII are starting to work on?
What is the name of this Fantasy TBS?
I have a question, what does the '*' next the the Techs in the Diplonatic screen mean?
and muslims cannot exist without a holy war. how else are they going to get into heaven danielost --> Rather than denigrate an actual religion with your ignorance and intolerance, why not just invent a new religion instead? This is a science fiction story, after all. Also, I think this forum has had enough religious bashing of late, no? Frankly, I'm getting rather sick of it... and I'm not even religious. S
I have a questions, I'm no modder or anything but I do like creating CIV's in the game. I noticed that some custom CIV's that I have downloaded from this site as well as others have techs that would cost more than the points a civ normally gets when you create it in the game. When I look at the CIV's tech points they are in the negative range. My question is how can you give CIV's techs that go beyond the Tech point range that the game gives them? Reason I want to know this is so I can create CI
Hi! All the leftovers flow into the next tech in the chain. Bellack, we're talking about game feature that has been made possible pretty early, probably Dread Lords 1.0x patch. But if you're playing some old non-updated version of DL, then it's obvious you can't know anything about that. BR, Iztok I do have the latest patch. I have not encountered this tech overflow that you speak of yet. As
Hi! and Planetary Invasion which when I check my tree would take me 58 turns to learn. What was your tech speed: very slow? I'm asking because IIRC Planetary invasion NEVER costed me such an amount of time. So either you have very weak research, or you have below average research and the tech speed was very slow. Those "left and right" techs could be the most cheap ones. Those (for me uninportant) ones, that once I turn my r
Actually, being good should not be harder... it should force you into a research or influence win, rather than a 'take it all over'. As for planet decisions, Good, Neutral and Bad choices should ALL have Up and DOWN sides. For instance, Early Civilization Good - -5% pop, +10% morale on planet Neutral - -2% pop, +2% morale on planet Evil - +15% pop, +1% morale (for the drinking stories told at local watering holes) This seems like
I think it is pretty normal. If it's any comfort, even on Suicidal the AI can colonize itself into such a deep financial hole that it can't recover for a good while...Usually about 200 planets plus or minus 30 depending on the race and assuming it doesn't take a break for anything, like a war. Well that’s a relief. I thought that I was doing something wrong. Because no matter what I did, I could not match the AI's speed in colonizing planets. And it se
Im not playing on suicidal yet, currently on crippling, but when you are trying to colonize that many planets, and are building all factories on HW, I would move diplo techs for trade and government techs up in priority. Get the freighters out faster for more income in trade until population catches up and trade is less vital. You'd be suprised how it really helps to offset the negative cash flow you wind up with when overcolonizing. Also like Purge mentioned,
Oh, come on, Iztok. SOMEONE is going to have to figure out what is the perfect proportion of planets/colonies to try for in a 600 system game (give or take ~2%), to give the optimum chance of a win combined with a minimum chance of attracting an early war. Who better than you? drrider
He he, I just had a thought. What if you researched invasion early on, built a bunch of troop transports, then sell all your peripheral worlds and promptly reclaim them? Is that free money? In Galciv1 definately! but planets are virtually worthless in DL. It is funny when you get that announcement that some minor race working with you has stolen all the technology of somebody and it says they are particularly intereste
Um HELLO!!! This Political Correctness crap happens all the time here in the USA. Our traitorous media spouts this crap out all the time. Oh and don't get me started on your ignorant Iraq commit. Oh and I assume your blaming the current government (I assume Federal) for all the wrongs in the world. But Have you ever stopped to consider that these problems go back further than 8 years and that there were not addressed by the previous party t
And I thought that crap happen in just the USA. Well it is good to know we arn't the only nation suffering from this Political Correctness bullcrap. This happens in the USA? We just had the I-35 bridge collapse in Minneapolis because of government negligence. All our tax dollars are going to outsourced toll roads and shiny new weapons in Iraq instead of our OWN infrastructure. Um HELLO!!! This Political
I think my problem is not so much that GalCiv is a self consciously 'funny' game (as has been pointed out humour and sci-fi go together like bacon and maple syrup) but that it is a funny game in an environment oversaturated with funny games. Sometimes knowing winks to the player are cute, but sometimes you want a genuinely immersive experience with the confidence to take itself seriously. Civ 4 suffers from the same problem albeit to a lesser extent. In this context, w
but anyway, i think it is a very potent quote to be considered in todays world. Here in Australia we are suffocating under the sheer volume of laws relating to safety, i'm sure it will soon be compulsory to wear pillows all over your body to protect from injury,,, every time some idiot gets killed, and the family goes on tv and cries and all that shxt and demand somthing be done, the government caves in every time and makes even more new stupid
It's pretty good so far keep going
