I'm not sure now. MAYBE you do get first strike all the time. sorry if i said it wrong. I know how it works just not when it gets used.
CaptainYar
It only works when you start the battle. Also, to reitterate what Iztok said, it means that if you can hit the enemy in the first round of battle hard enough to destoy all of his ships, then you will not lose any hitpoints, regardless of what the AI's attack values are. If you have enough firepower, you may be able to get away with not having defences. (as long as you attack first). And like he said, you'll appreciate this more in the later game when ships will tend to hit back harder.
i would have thought it was just a weird calculation of the influence border due to some unique circumstance. Throw in an influence starbase right in the triangle and see if it goes away.
Its not necessarily always thugging. If you look at the "dialog" on the scren when you ask for something for nothing, you'll see that friendly civs take it as a friendly request. The other civs will view it as a demand. But even your friends will start to get annoyed if you do it a few times.
A new treaty i guess you could call it. Where someone pays you every turn (amount is negotiated in the trade screen) to protect them. That is you will fight who ever starts a war with them. Or you can pay an AI money to fight for you. WHY? First this can keep some of the weaker races in the game. Especially the minors. If the Krynn are getting paid to protect one, they won't be so easy to just wipe away when you or an AI feels like having their planet. second it can be a good w
What im suggesting is just like that. I mean if you're in a position to obliterate an AI and you chose to give them a peace treaty, as weak as they must be at that point you can offer to protect them and they will pay you weekly. As a good race you can call it benevolence, as an evil race you can see it as being an overlord or something like that. Maybe as an alternative to money, or in conjustion with it, you can offer protection in excahnge for getting an new tech they develop. Unless
is THAT what team is? i was going to get around to asking that. its something that you have to set before the game starts? does this count as an alliance?
i did not know that. i woud have said no. So if the AI had already built on it, would you be able to profit from those buildings? Now i hate to get technical but if you invaded using "information warfare" and won, some of your forces were already living on that world, wouldn't you be able to keep those people withpout having the colonization tech? a good fix (not that one is even needed, but...) woul;d be to have that tech automatically be the one you take from that ra
Cool, but they way i see it. if you were to attack the Dark Yor for instance, a screen would come up and tell you that if you attack them the Drengin will declare war on you. Just like when you attack someone, only in this cae the name of a third (or maybe even forth) party will appear. They you can click "no" that you really dont want to do that. The AI will also "know" that if they attack they will be dealing with other races.
Agreed, it does look very similar to that, but a weak civ can never form an alliance. Some other differences are: -With an alliance you can still choose to back out if your ally is attacked. -This treaty is a one-way street. -When paying a civ to go to war, its immediate and definite. This is a just-in-case thing. -In order to even get an alliance you have to be on close terms with the civ. In this case you can even have a civ that practically hates you accept an offer to protect
How about a take-off on the "5 pc per week" event. but nnot as devestating. Like an area that bisects the galaxy at a random location where all ships move at reduced speed, instead of the entire galaxy. This could bith help and hinder the p[layers, depending on where this thing lands. Alternatively, you gan have a band, 1 pc wide bisect the galaxy where all ships must end their turn before crossing. So if you have 3 moves left you still must stop at this band, but on your next turn you
I hate to start a whole new "what i wanna see.." topis, but i had this idea i was wondering what my fellow players thought of it. If the Krynn are getting paid t
I haven't player Civ IV so I'll have to ask: Are other civs unable to cross that line even if its far from a city? I'd like to say "ouch" to kyro's response, it was a good one but I was kinda hoping for something in the future regarding zones of control but it doenst seem likely now. Maybe the idividual ships / fleets can have zones of control instead. (?)
You can't blow it up, its not really there.
More interesting modules, perhaps a 'command bridge' module that increases the ship's luck/courage rolling. Thats another good one. (see my previous post) And i just thought of also having something like a shield generator as a ship component, so that a percentage of your defense for that ship comes back afer a round. So ships can have things like Maneuvering thrusters, targeting computers, astromedic droids, shield generators and a co
I think i saw my old toaster mixwed in there.
Not that anyone has time for changes just for fun. But, what do you think of having different pictures of the various ambassadors, like the Drengin guy on vacation at a volcano, or the Alterian Woman looking like we just woke her up, or someone sleeping at their desk, with the text saying "i was just resting my eyes, what can i do for you?". of course ther are much more important feature to add but i thought this could make the screen more funny.
Ok should i cut and paste my recent additions to the other thread about what i'd like added?
In preparation for an invasion of the Drengin I've posted spys on 3 of their economic capitals(guess they got them frm conquored civs) and their tech capital, traded them techs for all but 68 bc of their treasury and like 8 of their ships (puny ones) and imposed an embargo. Its just a matter of time until their debt makes it impossible for them to wage war. The key too as Iztoc mentioned is biding you time. Wait until you have good techs to have beter ships, and enough production to ch
I'm just glad this thread dealt with space ships....
how many is brazilian? OMG that actually made me laugh. oh yea wait my serial number... well i give coco puffs a 10 and rice cripies like a 7. they just don't seem to talk as long as they used to. Hey helloiseeu thansk for the good times.
oh, sorry but i guess you'd have to contact the seller. otherwise you don't have a serial number.
mine was on a loooong sticker right on the case that the dosks were in.
What difficulty are you playing on. Make sure you ahve the Krynn in there and you'll be declared a blight on the galaxy.
I had that once. I thought it was the start orf a pirate invasion. It just sat there and i couldnt even attack it. later i checked and it was just gone. GULP. I never visit the bottom corner of the galaxy alone anymore...
