Tha happened to me when i CTRL-N 'ed. I was "doing SO great". until i coulnt trade a single tech cause no one had anything to trade. i realized something was wrong and i noticed all of thae AIs had 2 planets (the STARTED with a clony ship) to my 10. I looked and they were all set to duuuuuuuuuuu. So i dont Ctrl-N. if i want a new setup ill take the time to go to the main menu and click my way to a new game. Yopu say you started on Mosocistic but have you checked the actual intelligen

right, but i wasn't asking how to get better relations. I was wondering if my good relatiuons were based solely and directly on my extreme diplomacy. I havent made any particularly great gifts and I've got 4 of 9 civs at close relations. And like i said, my military is pitiful.Well maybe its still better than the torians.

True sometimes, you could be on a high difficulty and leave one opponent alive while you do your researching. In that case you'll have all but 1 planet and probably a huge reseach ability. You could also say that if you can wipe out everyone without all the techs THEN its too easy. So it just depends. I need to up it a bit next time. I find that once i get going with my military i barely lose a ship (i tend to tech-it-up to the last minute before constructing my ships).

1) other than giving you better trades, what does diplomacy do? does it help you achieve better relations with AI opponents? Im playing as the terrans and no one has attacked me. My military is awefaul, embarassing even and i have 2 races that are close a few that are friendly one thats cool and only the Drengin are hostile. Even I waould have attacked me by now. So is it my great diplomacy thats making everyone kinda like me? 2) is there a way to rename a starbase? id like to name m

I don't know what its there for. But i know some planets dont have the picture. Stacked ships just means they are on the same tile, nothing else. to "break" them apart just move one to another tile. If they are in a fllet then you can add/ delete ships from that fleet (logistics allowing) and you CAN edit posts as long as it hasnt been read by anyone yet. you'll see "edit" next to "quote" and "reply" when you open your own post.

I think the idea has merit but perhaps too much of a change in programing, or too much for the AI to handle. But as suggested, if you can only build them in your teritory, whey not just build a star bbase on a planet where it will be safer?

it seems MV gaming would benefit from finishing more quickly and not research all the techs, since part of MV scores is how quickly one finishes. no? YES, I've read on these forums that your score kinda maxes out at years 5 and 6 and you'll take a huge penalty for anything after that. So the extra points you get for all that research will probably not outweigh the loss of points. Also, you may have a good score but do you really want other MVers seeing

Being neutral gives yopu additional trade routes (i forget how many) so that in conjunction to the starbases that SleekDD mentioned could be how they got that high trade ioncome. i dont think ive even come close to that. The population of the planets involved in the routes makes them more valuable too. BTW those starbases also will add to the production and research of the planets in their radius. I play with small clusters just so i can have at least one help each of my planets. Every

funny thing about light is it's velocity. Velocity for most stuff in the universe is relative to somthing else but not light. so if you traveled at the speed of light and then shone a torch out front, the light would simply pool up in the torch would it not? Not sure, at that speed the wind would probably blow the torch out.

Since it takes long to research each colonization tech i sometimes wait until i have all the basics. You may find it irritating but it was added to DA for the purpose of slowing down the colonization phase. So you'll be colonizing for some time to come. DL doesnt have it if you really don't want to play with it. And I never have a problem with trading with the AI. i know i've seen a few posts where people have said it needs to be fixed but i think its fine. The more valuable the tech th

It happened to me too. Had intelligence set for tough, hit ctrl-N and played. For a while I was pattuing myself onthe back for being such and awesome player, I was dminating in the colony rush and everything. I noticed something was wrong when, no matter when i went to trade techs NO ONE had anything to trade me. Then i noticed i was the only one who had more than 2 planets. I checked and every one was set to fool.

I can't answer you about the download times but the differences between the original game (Dread Lords) and The new one (Dark Avatar) are tremendous. There are now 6 different planet environmets (one being normal) that each require research to be able to colonize. Means you'll still be doing some colonization later in the game. Each race has a super ability. Additional Races. More planetary improvement buildings such as fusion generator and research coordination cente

If you don't believe in spreading the abilities, wouldn't you pick technologists or mercantile as your party since they will stack with your research or economic/moral abilities? That made me think up another related topic. Since I like to role play with my game, I will pick a party that kinda resembles my race. Like if I'm the Yor, i won't really pick mercantile or pacifists since it just doesnt seem to fit. even if i really liked the bonuses. As humans i guess you can p

A few people wind up with serial number problems. It doesn't necessarily mean that its a used copy. When i tried to update i was told that the eamil address was not the same as the one that was registered. David at support had me fixed up in no time.

I was just wondering how everyone choses their racial abilities in conjunction with their political party. Do you try to get bonuses across the board or is stacking better? If you use a race that already gets a military production bonus do you use your extra points to get more? Whats better? Personally i have so far only used them to get a bit of everything. I'll use my points on everything but production but then i pick Industialist as my party.

The improvement symbols are really not that hard to remember. I think they all look different enough. And if you want to know what something is you just click on it and the bottom of the screen tells you what it is and what X the improvment is generating. So what you're asking for is really already there. As far as the techs, the number of weeks it will take to research is much more useful information that the number of RP it will cost. I'd rather see... 5 weeks than 3000 RP. especiall

I just don't see why mega events have to only hurt the strongest civ. The effects should be ramndom and effect virtually everyone and not target the strongest.

Sorry for the long post but I'm on a roll... Another place where additions to diplomacy could be initiated is that since this is a turn based game, if a battle is about to take place it can wait until everyone as taken their turn. This could mean that an icon will show where a battle is about to take place and you can join as a third party to a fight to help an ally. or you can have a 3way brawl. As long as your ships were close enough during their turn. So i see so sort of ic

I would love to have more diplomatic options. Alliances can be more than just a way to win the game or for help if you get attacked. Maybe in the trade screen you can have a list of future techs" where you agree to research something next and you ask the AI to do the same and when you both have researched your assigned tech you automatically trade with eachother. For instance i'll pick phasors II and then on the AI (who is my ally) side of the screen i pick for a list of all techs he ha

1) each spy costs more. it doesnt matter what happens to the previous spies. So the sixth will cost what it will no matter what number five did or didn't do. 2) Also, on the economy screen you see a tab for espionage. There yopu will see where all of you spies are and if there are any on you planets. To get rid of them from that screen you just need to pick one thats on a planet of yours and click "nullify" at the bottom. you of course have to have an available spy to do this. As kryo s

- The list of available components could also use some tweaking. For example, I would love to have the options to put components in a "favorites" list. There is already three categories, it would simply be a fourth category, and for each component we click on, we could have the option to add/remove it to/from the favs. In addition to that maybe you could have a favorote group of pieces saved in the list. Like if you want all of you ships to have a certai

Some other ideas i had for changes to warfare were additional parts for ships to add to combat and lessen the rock/paper/scissorsness. For instance... maneuvering thrusters that can make an enemy ship "miss" or targeting computers to give better accuracy. I'm no programmer BUT, i see it as being in reality that the components just alter the die roll for damage. So my thrusters wont really cause a miss but will cause the computer to maybe roll a zero on occasion or just lessen the actual die roll

Ram ships were used before projectile weapons were invented on ships. New defences kill old weapons and new weapons kill old defences. Why did cities stop using stone walls as protection? Because with the invention of gunpowder they didn't stand a chance and weren't worth it. I just dont see what a ram ship will add to the game. How would it survive long enough to make contact? But i do like the idea if it could be brought in and keep the whole thing balanced. I lik
