even though i agree with alot of what the OP has to say i think its just not helpful to compare this game to other games. of what use to anyone is it to put a Demigod character in direct comparison with a Diablo, Everquest, or WoW character? i think that just reflects the ideological baggage of the author more than anything, it doesn't really get at any relevant points to the this game. so what i mean is this is a pretty good post that would be a better post if it just

also gonna complain about Torchbearer's Fire mode auto-attack. as far as I know its the only auto-attack in the game that cannot be used while moving. this makes it nearly impossible for Fire TB to effective pursue enemy DG's and greatly reduces the killing power of Fire builds. i can only assume this is a bug since it seems like such unexpected and atypical behavior. i'd like to see it changed in order to introduce more variety into TB builds, which are currently
jeez, nobody's complained about the High Priests+Healing Wind bug yet? this is the one where the level 3 Idol Summoned Priests heal for 30% of max health if under the effect of Healing Wind rank 2. im gonna go on the record with that one, its a bug resulting from a typo in the LUA files. its really overpowered. i use it and abuse because i can, but its definitely unfair.
this is kinda sneaky, but it might work. have the Sedna player keep her priest summons slightly further back in anticipation of Erebus' Mass Charm. you want them out of range for the stun. once he stuns, order the priests back into range so they can right away heal you. this way you reduce the risk of being bursted out while your priest minions are stunned and unable to heal you.
general forum is not tech support forum.
its not an exploit until there's an official rule against it. rules are established by two groups: the game developer and the community norm. neither of these groups has established a binding rule regarding Healing Wind 2 and Priests. its totally fair ball at the moment. ...however, its still blatantly a bug and is blatantly overpowered.
the spirits can do a gigantic amount of damage to a stationary target. they won't hit runners though so they can be unreliable. they die very easily but fly quickly and complete ignore map terrain so they can cover multiple lanes easily. a spirit air force is actually a good way for oak to push two lanes at the same time. Oak himself can really juice the spirits damage with Penitence and Surge of Faith though, it can be a truly frightening amount of DPS. you won't
well, Brad, i think you read my post correctly the first time. it is an argument to basically just let go of Demigod and work on whatever comes next. hopefully some valuable lessons were learned and future products from Stardock and GPG will benefit from them. the other option might be to do a Special Edition Re-release of the game. something similar was done by CD-Projekt with their excellent rpg The Witcher. the initial release had lots of bugs and was incomplet
the issue with casual players (and i am one now, for the most part) is that they aren't going to stay with it for the long haul. communities are built and maintained by the most hardcore and competitive gamers (which i used to be, when my private life allowed for more leisure time). if you want a game to keep going for years you need to foster its competitive/hardcore community. otherwise it will expire after 10 months, like basically every game naturally will wit
what a nub, he doesn't even have All Father's Ring.
get more health. works like a charm. combat health potions work wonders as well. sniping is predictable. take the necessary precautions when there's a regulus on the map. if you get sniped to death because you weren't minding your health closely enough its your fault. these are the approximate health thresholds you need to stay above to avoid sniping death. lvl 1-3: 450 lvl 4-6: 650 lvl 7-9: 850 lvl 10+ :
kinda silly to save the level 1 point, the first 3 levels come so fast anyway.
i've been trying out this build lately, it works decently. 1 - Ground Spikes 1 2 - Bramble Shield 1 3 - saved 4 - Ground Spikes 2 and Bramble Shield 2 5 - Spike Wave 1 6 - saved 7 - Ground Spikes 3 and Bramble Shield 3 8 - Shamblers 1 9 - saved 10 - Ground Spikes 4 and Bramble Shield 4 11 - Spike Wave 2 12 - Shamblers 2 13 - Shamblers 3 14 - Shamblers 4 15 - G
what about people like me who have a casual play schedule but a competitive attitude? i don't get to play as often as people like Shadow and I don't have a regular pre-made team, but i very much still want to be matched with skilled players who can provide good competition for me and be good team-mates for me. skill or rank matching is always going to be important, even if it doesn't involve pre-made vs. pre-made teams. <
i bet he gets picked on at school. poor guy.
SaulTigh, you've drifted off the original topic of discussion into a tangent regarding the midgame. the debate as originally stated is whether or not there is a better use of the first 1000 gold than to buy monks. most of us have agreed that monks are the best. your original dissent was to state that you think its better to get Banded and Scalemail. fair enough, i disagree but you can play however you like. a mor
those 2 weeks where he was gone, the forums were actually tolerable again. i've been reporting nearly all of his troll posts. totally amazed that nobody has done anything. surely there's got to be more moderators than just Kryo working this forum, right?
monks are superior. you'd better have a damn good reason not to take them if you're playing a general. also worth noting that they scale directly with your HP pool so starting combo of Blood of the Fallen with Monks is incredibly strong.
i use this build quite often with some minor variations. variant 1: favor item Blood of the Fallen will utilize Scaled Helm (at start) which is upgraded to Vlemish Faceguard (midgame) this variant provides greater early game staying power and i find it preferable against strong harrassing opponents such as enemy Beast or Torchbearer. variant 2: skill order changes
a gold mine is 2 gold per tick per player. a tick is approximately every 2 seconds (its actually something like 1900 miliseconds, so not quite a round 2).
he's not gonna explain anything to you. he's trolling. just report him.
Fire TB is ok. Ice seems to work better under most circumstances but its not like fire is actually outright bad (the way Sedna Yetis are just terrible). fireball is mana efficient and long range. its a fantastic harrassing spell. its also great at finishing runners. it plays out almost identically to Venom Spit in most circumstances. circle of fire is much maligned but its very effective as a group support spell on certain maps. it is
i find that Oak works best as a Tank. stacking speed items on him seems a bit strange, none of his abilities suggest hit and run tactics at all. he's very focused on stand and fight type of stuff. its often not so important to obsess over running down your opponent for a high risk kill. you've achieved your goal if you can just manage to force them out of a lane without taking too much damage yourself. i'd much rather rely on a team-mate like Regulus or TB or Beast to chase people down for ki
i agree with Miya, its a ridiculous house rule. there's only 8 DG's in the game. and each one has more than 1 good build anyway so plenty of variety is possible even with doubles. y'all gotta get over it and just let people play what they want. one of my best games ever was 4 Oaks vs. 4 Regulus.
you could conceivably take minion skill points but still use tank gear. nobody said you're obligated to go with minion damage gear just because you took Raise Dead Wards. the bigger issue i usually have isn't squishiness but mana management. Oak's natural mana pool is incredibly shallow. its really problematic to find enough mana for both Penitence and Minion stuff so usually you can't get Penitence and Minions at the same time without relying heavily on mana poti
