Oh, even more fun...how about they drop out of phase where they are? That could be real ugly. It would make some sense logically speaking, but gameplay wise it would hurt.

I love all this, if it's possible in the current engine. Moons, rather than being starbases could be a nice way to boost things like pop cap. Sorta like they ended up being in Master of Orion 3.
Hey, that's a nice acknowledgement. What he said about it being for those "who like a little more depth in their RTS style games" was spot on. This is definately a game that raises the bar on scope. Nothing comes even close.... Especially with all the expansions coming.
Isn't this subject a bit tired? I mean, a little reading would have reveiled several other threads dealing with this, complete with official posts by Brad himself. Clogging up the boards with multiple threads is a bit annoying.... :(
I guess it's a matter of preference. I LOVE long games. Short sessions just don't cut it for me. I'd rather play a single save game over w eek than play a gazillion Starcraft sessions. It's just preference. :) I LOVE this game for it's length. Not many RTS style games give you long sessions like this one. I can't wait to get my hands on that beta of Entrenchment. :)
That's a shame. I hope you're mistaken. Natural Desktop is a really awesome app. I'd LOVE to see it come over to Vista or Win 7 and be updated to take advantage of the new features. It'd be fun to watch the rain or snow on an animated background or watch the wind blow through the leaves in autumn. :)
To be honest, I don't really enjoy multi-play all that much. I prefer to play the single play game. If asked why, I'm not sure I'd have a good answer. I've had good experiences in MP in the past, but almost always when I knew my opponents personally, i.e. in person. Playing anonymous users over the net just doesn't appeal to me very much. Call me old fashion. :)
Hey, as a single play player, I don't care about how long MP games are. I hope things won't be modified just to cater to the MP players.... If posts on the boards are to believed, they are in the minority anyway.... Maybe as a compromise there could be some sort of game setup slider bar that would allow the MP players to shorten thier games. What if you could make a MP session timed?? Give the player with the most worlds the win if no one has managed
Futhermore, what would be a easier alternative? Maybe they could just ask. When you go to download the patch it says "Are you a Pirate?" and if you click yes you wont be able to download the game. Actualy in that situation you would have been treated as a pirate up until you hit NO so i bet someone would complain about that too. LOL, that sounds a lot like something I thew out when we were working a problem with our campus portal.
Well, I hope they don't. It's FAR easier to use Impulse than the old way. I'm loving it, and hope it just keeps getting better and better. I love that I can buy games, ptach games, and get to chat (with the devs in most cases no less) about the games all in one client. Very cool.... The most valuable thing to me...I don't have to keep track of product keys and cds. So if my house burns today, I won't lose any of the games I've bought rights to play.
Anyone remember an old Siera title called Outpost? I liked how they did the multiple underground layers. It was simple, yet effective. Maybe that could be an option, or a variation of some sort? For those who never played it, the premise of Outpost was that you were leaving Earth to colonize a distant planet. As you built your "outpost" you could burrow underground and build your structures at various depths. You had an up/down control that let you switch b
When it comes down to it, Stardock has to do something to protect it's IP. They are a business after all. If it isn't something like Impulse, it's going to be some kind of DRM. They have no choice. The good old days of yore when companies operated on a policy based on the honor system. Companies spend hundreds of thousands of dollars, sometimes even more, developing a title. They have to be able to see some kind of return on thier investment or they wo
If you are, did you look into using cover cloths? You posted a while back in the GalCiv2 board that you had some issues with the little guys when you went to open the hives. I gathered that you weren't using a cover cloth from what you wrote. I suggested looking into one, but that was a busy time. You may not have enen noticed. If you haven't tried using one, you're really missing out. It keeps the little guys a but calmer and you don't have to use nea
I have HughesNet satellite internet at home, and Impluse works like a dream. I've never had issue with it. I LOVE it. I can install it, log in wiht my acount, and poof...there are the games I have purchased waiting for me to install. Makes it great when you upgrade to new machines. The updater is really great too. Since it only pulls down the files I need, my update time is cut way down. Less time downloading means more time to play. That means
Sorry everyone. This is my fault. I had to send my laptop in for repairs and wouldn't get it back in time for the 18th release. As I wallowed in my sorrow I made a few unfortunate wishes that seem to have come true. :( Flame me all you want...I deserve it. :( [e digicons]:X[/e] EDIT: Is that smoke?? [e digicons]8C[/e]
Seige frigates could use a little tweaking. I don't think making them cheaper is the answer. Maybe they could be given a secondary role? If made cheaper, they should definately be made softer so standard planet defenses could handle them before they were able to wipe out a whole bunch of worlds. Thoughts?
Ah, you know I've never noticed that before... I must be blind. LOL!
I agree with the poster who touched the subject of mutually exclusive tech. It is annoying when it is implemented in such a way as to not fit the setting. It can be done right, I've seen it. When it is, it's VERY fun. As to mechanical units, anyone remember Fantasy General? I loved how they did unit research. I hated that they punished you for specializing, but oh well. It was neat to be able to chose from magical creatures like unicorns, livi
I've always just went into the content folder and deleted the files. Is there an easier way to do this from in game, or am I doing it the way it should be done. Just curious. Thanks! :)
I hate to nag... I'm not, really. I posted about this once upon a time, but the post was pre-impulse and I want to make sure it gets brought over. Searching the forum via impulse returned no posts at all about Natural Desktop. I'm after a Vista compatible version of it. If you guys would make it, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I looked awesome, but, alas, I found it just after upgrading. I'd have had it if I was still on XP. :)
I think I agree with the "no guns" folks. Bombards....not so bad though. Maybe they could go in with a flare of fire elemental magic or something. If it could be pulled off, it sure would be nice to have some random elements in the tech trees adn the spell choices in a given session. MOM did that pretty well. You never knew for sure what higher end spells you'd get to research. There were some standbys, but in the end it was really based on luck.&nb
Maybe I was just lucky. Nes games were always around $20-$25 here and snes were $25-$30. PC Games have always been between $35 and $50...least the good ones anyway.
I'm curious, why wait to charge?
Ouch... So that's how they can afford to sell the consoles at a loss. I wondered about that.
JaggedSparFel, I'm not following you. Is that official, and is Exile's Wrath one of the expansions or is it a mod? I don't generally mess with mods, so it might be common knowledge to most that I just missed.
