If I'm remember the gossip correctly, tactical combat will be player-controlled. I'm greedy, though--I want to be able to turn that over to a really good field commander (or just an overwhelming force) if I have one so I don't have to bother with all the clicking.
I agree. It would be fun to have the choice. I remember in MOM especially at the begining it was very important to play out your battles. A very carefully planned battle strategy could mean vict

I agree we have to find a way to end the game when we are sure we are going to win. In galciv you are going for military vicotry, and the eneemy no longer as a navy. At that point it,s pretty much a given. I would also like a way for the game to know that it's time to surrender.
It's definitely coming along, though. We will have a map editor (one of our many editors) for the creation/modification of entire maps but we will also have a system in place to create smaller map pieces that can be included in the generation process. So if you want to make a really well thought-out and recognizable island but not an entire map you can save out that island for later use in custom maps or you can add it to the map generation process for inclusion in a random map.[/quote
Yeah, random maps are gonna be be Bread and Butter of Elemental We dont have it perfect yet, but we think the results are going to be pretty insane.
I like the word INSANE... YEAH!!!!!

I think you already have thoughts of incoperating some of these... but just in case. In MOM you had dungeons and or abandoned towers with item, treasures, artifact or trapped heroes. I would like to have that in the game. It adds to the randomness of the game and it adds a certain flavor to exploration. I liked the idea that if you fail in your attempts you might wake a demon. (I believe I read that somewhere) Please keep that in the game. It's way cool. <p
This spring could see the end of my posting GalCiv games to the Metaverse, or at least slow me down a lot. Good thing I theoretically don't care about my rank on the AltMeta...
I know what you mean. I've been playing Galciv2 because it was the only good 4x game out there (civ4 did nto really got me) Elemental is my type of game. Now we're talking. This is what I like.
*sigh* The only sad part is that they announced a game that's not coming out for at least a year and 3 months. There's the beta early next year(which I'll probably buy/sign up for) but still....
It's going to be hard being patient for the game. However I prefer to know and I prefer to participate in the beta that is only 8 months away. That is something cool to look forward to. I love it.

So where is that announcement? I for one love the graphics and I know they can only get better with time. I want to see the big spells that we heard so much about. In an ycase there is one thing we can all agree on is that we all trust Stardock and we all know how good they are. This will be great!!!
Or they'll assume they are losing money to piracy and try to come up with more effective DRM. Or they'll just stop publishing games for the PC.
If that is what they think they are mistaken. Pirates would never buy the products anyway. So you are not loosing any money there and you never will. It's simple, a Pirate won't buy it. 99% of games get cracked so for them it's not something they would do (buying the game I mean)

Hello everybody. Tomorrow is the Big day for some of us who have been waiting for a long time for this game. I was wondering if anybody has some expectations or ideas or thoughts of what will be in this game. I am imagining a huge map with lots of dungeons protected with creatures which we might be able to enslave to do battle for us later on. Maybe a huge dragon's lair where your hero will have to face the ultimate creature to get that super powe
