I just find it sad that someone would not believe in SOME type of "afterlife" or God. The most depressing thing I can think of is that there is nothing beyond or better than the life you have now. Yes, it is very depressing, most people can't and don't want to deal with this, they flee into religion. However, as depressing as the lack of an afterlife is, it means one thing: We have to make sure that we and everyone else on this planet can enjoy our

[quote]The funny thing about random number generators is that even though they are random enough for the task set to them they are not truly random at all.[quote] That's the definition of a pseudo-random number generator. However, there are some true random number generators. You could for example measure resistor noise in a circuit. To predict its behavior, you would have to know the exact state of the universe, which obviously isn't possible. Alternatively you could
One common issue raised by religious people is that science cannot prove everything, that ultimately a higher being is responsible. But that's not the goal of science. Science wants to extend our knowledge as much as possible. But knowing everything will be impossible, because unfortunately one cannot describe a system with the means of the system itself. Logically it all falls back to Gödel's incompleteness theorems (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%C3%B6del%27s_incompleteness_theorems). <br/
I don't follow any religion nor do I belief in any deity, higher being, the afterlife or whatever. I got raised as christian, but never had faith. In younger years due to ignorance, now by choice. Why? Well, there are many different reasons. 1) First of all, there's the historical background. Look at the knowledge we take for granted nowadays. Lots of stuff which are natural for us, people did not know about in the past. Take for example the plague. Today we know its caused
Please, your point has bigger holes in it than the Titanic.... We all post in a yellow submarine, yellow submarine, yellow submarine...
the current war we were attacked by terriosts and saddam for over 10 years Terrorism always requires two parties: The terrorists and the one that let themselves get terrorized. Ignore the terrorists and the problem will solve itself. Oh, and it were the USA that initially supported the former president of Iraq, Saddam Hussein.
In my opinion, every type of violence which is not a direct, immediate response to an attack in order to prevent further harm, is unethical. And even in pure defense, if not absolutely unavoidable, violence has to be kept to a minimum. In terms of wars, this means that any war that is not fought on a country's own territory is unethical and should not be rewarded in any way. There are other things to influence things outside your souvereign territory. Diplomacy, trade, welfare and so on
Hmm, I think I just came up with a new gameplay idea which has never been done yet. The game would be a classical multiplayer capable 4X game. However, the difference is an integrated, fully open, unlimited scripting engine together with an ingame editor. Basically it's the AIs written by the player which plays the game. And in any case, the human player still has the control over every aspect of the game, like giving specific orders or changing the AI strategy at will. Then do
Usually, even more so in the later stages of the game, I have far superior fleets. When I attack, I try to get about one fleet for each planet my enemy has, bring them in position and quickly destroy all fleets my enemy has. After that I'll send in the transports. However, I usually make the same mistake, I leave my planets and transports totally undefended. I'm working on improving that though <br
Please keep in mind the Men and Women that served and died for their countries. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten. And many of them in wars of aggression (e.g. Iraq). Everyone participating in such a war dishonors the people who died in an honorable defensive war. Everyone who participated in a war of aggression should be punished for the crimes they committed. What's the punishment for mass-murder again?
Whoever I can reach the fastest with my transports. I'm an impatient emperor, I want some new planets now. NOW NOW NOW I said
The best way to get a better programmer is to actually program something What language you start with doesn't matter, in each and every language you can write horrible code. First task is to learn the language, read a couple of books about it till you know the language syntax. Concerning the language, everything is allowed. I think Python is a quite nice language to begin with. Also, C/C
Gameplay wise not much has changed in 1.6. The only changes I have experienced are the change to the colony ship size and the starbase repair. Other than that, the AI is sill as stupid (*) as in 1.5 In an in-depth view, I think the AI might be smarter in its building choice. In my current beta game for example, I've yet to see planets with an enormous amount of morale-improving buildings I noticed in 1.5 and early 1.6 betas. Then again, a single game isn't much, it could be mer
I'm currently a couple of years into a game, the only problem I've seen so far are the invisible missing mining bases.
Great. I'll test it on Friday, it's my GC2 day
"294 Big Croz!? That almost Think building!" Hilarious
You forgot to include someone experienced in cross-platform development. I finally want to be able to play a recent game under native Linux. Oh, and the management has to include >50% open-source zealots, so it's not proprietary crap.
Some general tips: - Don't fall behind in military tech or the AI will steamroll you - Focus on one of the three weapon branches, otherwise you'll be a master of none.
build fences what ever it takes to keep them at bay. also, if you can, stop it from spreading off world. (+20% The YGA check failed (Yor Genuine Advantage)
The minimap is still broken. If zooming the minimap, the trapezoid still changes its position.
Pretend you're a race of interplanetary cavemen, making thinking buildings
Do more report. I reading then I no do work. No work good, more fun. Fun good or I be sad. Raknor not want be sad.
I have a saved game in which there are so many ships and other objects that on my Quad-SLI nVidia 7950 I only get 3 frames per second using 1.6 beta 2. Double-pirates? But in the current internal build, scheduled to go up later this week we hope, we're seeing 30+ frames per second. A 10X performance improvement. 10 times more FPS? You gotta be kidding me. It sounds too good. Make sure to publish this savegame
Agreed Mistralok, the economy is your best friend. Nothing is more than invading a puny PQ 2 planet only have a brand-new huge-hull class ship in orbit the very next turn
All buildings are social, all spaceships are military. If no buildings get built, the left-over social production gets added to military production. The other way around it does not happen. Each point in production costs some BC, depending on many things (for example bonus production from starbases is cheaper afaik). Using the spending slider on the domestic screen, you decide how much BC to spend. I don't know what 100% corresponds to, but generally the spending slider should be at 100% unl
