There is no 'Terraforming' building that stays behind. What about Orbital Terraformer?

A wealthy man can afford anything except a conscience -- 261st Rule of Acquisition This strategy is best played with the Altarians, with a strong economy as primary goal and research as secondary goal. I've chosen the following abilities: - Max Economy bonus - Max Morale bonus - The rest of the points into research - Fedaralist political party This strategy works well on medium to large maps (I couldn't test bigger maps due to my slow computer),
3. Instead of alphabetical order, the improvments should be listed by TYPE. Otherwise everytime you upgrade a technology (Xeno Research -> Research Centers) it's position in the list changes. It makes hunting down what you want more difficult. +1 from me on that.
You can use spore ships to your advantage if you're playing against Korath. Make sure all planets but one deep inside your territory have ships in orbit. With a high probability, that planet will attract spore ships. A single fast ship should be enough to take them out.
How about original game music? In no particular order: Super Mario Gianna Sisters Zelda Tetris many many more Basically all the old games had great tunes.
Not sure they are the best, but the most widely known theme songs gotta be Star Wars, Star Trek and Indiana Jones ^^
I've seen this as well a while ago (1.5, early 1.6 betas), but I don't know if it still happens with final 1.6, my recent games have been rather peaceful. I'll try to reproduce it in my next game.
morale is always going down Don't build farms.
Yes, you'll need the expansion.
I prefer the Altarians for their enormous economic potential. In my current game I'm trying to buy the entire galaxy. No shots fired, I hope
The following screenshots have been made in an all-abundant game on a gigantic map on "Tough" difficulty. As you can see, all the AI players eventually had to stop production completely for a rather lengthy period of time followed by a slow increase in production. I myself played the Altarians and had to stop production for a few turns on
Out of curiosity I tried to bump the version number and to my surprise, there's an 1.6b test build: http://sd.stardock.com/carielf/da_1_6b.zip What's new in it?
In order to think like an AI, you first need to learn how to drool while playing. ^^
One strategy involving spies: Before invading a planet, place spies on morale buildings, wait one turn and the invade using "Information warfare", population will be more unhappy. After successful invasion, your spies are available for other missions again.
Mega events happen randomly. You'll notice when they happen, since they often have quite some consequences. Basically, the longer a game lasts, the more likely you'll see a mega event. About spies, first thing you have to do is to set some non-zero espionage spending. That will generate spies in certain intervals, depending how much you spend. These spies can be used for two things: - Killing enemy spies on your planets (if there are any) - Placing on an enemy building <
Would you recommend to start an all-abundant game on a huge map using this build? I got 2GB physical RAM.
Great news. Any ETA yet?
Nice AAR. But so many planets and ships, I think my computer will melt should I ever try a huge map
Pirates and Peacekeepers? Sounds like fun Last time I had pirates event, I used a different strategy. Transports with big fat engines. Outrun the pirates, conquer every planet the other races had.
I like this idea. Or alternatively, make the AI capable of exploiting the current political system just as good as humans can
I played an all-abundant game on a medium size map as Altarian. I had my small edge of the universe and kept to myself most of the time. My goal: Win a peaceful tech victory. I had the tech lead and an overwhelming economy thanks to an economy mining resource I got early. Everything went well, I managed to build every single trade-good and galactic achievement available to me before any AI. I had been sitting in the north corner of the map, with the Torians to the southeast and
Woah! CodeCritter, your reply is garbled, looks like some heavily messed up formattin.
IMO that happens because game calculates outcome of the battle round before it displays results. Your first ship probably destroyed the pirate, so other two never fired. But pirate destroyed all of them in return fire, and since it was the stongest ship of all, it survived the battle by that peculiar rule. Yes, ships never overnuke. So the important question is: Did the pirate ship survive the attack?
Treaties can only be given away once. If a treaty isn't listed for some player, he already gave it to someone before. Check the treaties tab on the foreign relations screen to see who got treaties with whom.
Nice. Pressing my own turn button (aka sleep), then I'll play a game with 1.6
