The Arceans realize that research, even with the newfound knowledge of its importance, doesn't come easily to them. The technology tree of the Arceas is a bit more expensive.
Ah, so that's why I failed trying to gain tech superiority in my last game.
I've had to do the following for DA, and now for TA: In Stardock Central: Tools-->Settings...--->Lookup serial number That got me my serial, which I added to the serial field in the Games menu also in the settings (selecting TA from the list).
Thanks very much for pointing this out. Beta, here I come. Or not, past bed time here. If I would start a game now I won't get any sleep at all :/

Steps to reproduce: - Play a game and design some ships - Play another game, design new a ship but give it the same name of some ship from the previous game - Select the newly created ship in the shipyard Obversation: The new ship will look like the you just overwrote, however the stats are from the new one.
I rush to buy trade centers
Usually a bad idea if the planet's population is low. And by the time population has increased to profitable levels, the trade centers will have been finished on their own.
Do new colonies actually cost more than they give you?
Yes, at least initially. The colony center requires quite some upkeep and without population you don't get much taxes either. Last but not least, what racial bonuses do you
I mean I went to war with the korx, and they had essentially no chance. I had medium hulls with phasors, arnorion armor, and they had nothing. They had well developed planets, but no military force.
Noticed the very same in a 1v1 against the Drengin over the weekend. At some point they just decided to stop building ships. Using 1.7b4

Funny thing is, life would even survive such an impact. Earth's orbit is full with countless dormant bacteria. Once the molten rock previously known as earth has cooled down and the water has condensed again, all it takes is for a few of these spacegerms to land. Possible method or reentry: Germs attached to some space debris or quite small meteor. Furthermore, we do know of germs living deep underground, feeding of nothing more than the little bit of heat generated by radioactive decay

Being from Europe is not the problem. Have a look into your spam directory, at least in my case the mail from Stardock with the serial got a false positive as spam. That happens every time I buy something from anywhere due to the extreme amount of fake invoices and order confirmation I get

BTW, this window is white and so are all the field titles. I have to select all text on the screen to read them. What site are you visiting the forums through (galciv2.com, totalgaming.net, stardock.com), and what browser/version are you using? I've got that too if creating new posts. Visiting over forums.galciv2.com, using most recent version of Firefox as browser.

I've been playing some games on gigantic, all abundant maps. More often then not I've attempted to zoom out, to get an overview of the galaxy, only to realize I was already zoomed out. Basically I need another zoom mode. In that mode we would no longer care about stars, planets or such, we would play on a sector basis with a group of sectors forming clusters. You'd send huge fleets around directly from sector to sector. I hope most of you have heard of the upcoming game Spore yet, in wh

I've just finished my first all-abundant gigantic game ever. 1.7 beta 2 seems rock-solid, definitely an improvement over the previous versions. Though I won't do another gigantic game anytime soon, so many planets Anyhow, there are a few problems with beta 2: Auto-survey vessels I got quite a lot of them to make sure I really get every single anomaly. I got _tons_ of "No mo

+ FIX: I believe that I have finally fixed the 'weird minimap lines' bug + FIX: The screenshot key wasn't being detected correctly + FIX: Changed debug functions because they have been causing breaks even in release mode + FIX: The Civ Manager Event list will scroll if you mousewheel over the entries now (wasn't before because they were disabled, thus blocking mouse messages) All the issues that have been bugging me fixed. You're the best <im

I've hit that bug too and submitted my savegame + debug.err to [email protected] (at least I think that was the address). Cari_Elf replied and wrote me that she fixed the problem. So I guess we'll have to wait for the next beta. About the debug.err: It's in "My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar"

The version of this that I would like to see would leave the designated stack on guard when hostiles were in sensor range, but would include that position when cycling through ships with potential moves. What's the difference between ships doing nothing and ships on your style of guard then if they get cycled through? Personally I'd very much like a fortify function like in Freeciv. Hit F key, unit holds said position until you cancel it or unit

I downloaded the new beta last night and started a new game, and was interested in the new events feature but all it says for each new event is string not found? Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? Uninstalling and downloading everything again fixed this problem for me.

71 Replies 92,279 Views

It just says "String not Found" many many times for me. It sounds like not all your files got updated. You can try going into the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Stardock\Drengin.net\GalCiv2 and change the version for DarkAvatar to something earlier than 1.7 and then re-start Stardock Central. That should cause it to let you download the beta again. Try using US-1 if you're not using that serv

What race are you playing with and what technologies are you researching first? Personally I'm going for some of the econ techs first, add xeno medicine, xeno entertainment, then up to stock markets. My race is usually the Altarians with maxed Economy, Morale second, research third. And even then the whole in my pockets is sometimes too big to maintain my spending. There is a solution however: Research sensors early and fast. Especially in larger galaxies with many
