Heck, I haven't even breached the 10K barrier on my ZYW :p Plus, whenever I start in a corner of the map with no useful bonuses on my home planet, I'm already sure to miss the 0 year mark. So anyone comparing themselves to the 20-30K scores above, don't feel bad ;)
...Team B seems to be largely absent from our private forum, which doesn't help much...
That's a shame, part of the MVL is also about team work, team tactics, learning from other members. I think especially the last part could motivate players to stay, this would seem to me the biggest advantage over just playing Metaverse games solo.

Let them try, I feel like having lunch :d About the Economical Capital: I almost always build it during ZYW. It looks like I need to speeden up the process a bit more, buy earlier and opt more for long loans with the smallest weekly payment (counting that the whole game will be over in 40-50 weeks anyway). It depends hugely on the number of 1000bc anomalies found and any bonuses on your home planet, but speaking for myself when I run out of money in a ZYW it's usually because of lack

Looks like you were doomed anyway :) You could try to get an alliance with that race, especially since they were already allied with many others, and finish off all non-allied races. Though that might be tough to do in 20 weeks.
Tried my first ZYWs today, just to check it out. It certainly isnt difficult, but I would like to see how much I can increase my score for such games...
In any case you took a very good start with scores between 15 and 20K! Good luck breaking through the 20K barrier...
Good luck getting your racial victory medal
Thanks! Those ZYW are very quick indeed (even though I missed the 0 year mark in several cases so far, I managed two) Got the racial victory medal and climbed some 200 spots. Those quickly captured planets will make some nice outskirts for our ever-growing empire...

Since it never hurts to get some other views on the matter, another reply: 1. Be sure to survey as this will reap some 500 and 1000 bc anomalies. I often choose the political party with economy bonus + spend some ability points on economy. In addition you can sell some non-military, non-diplomatic techs to the AI. Don't grab too many low quality planets (below 6 or 7). Especially low quality planets in a system where you have the high quality ones, will fall into your hands after so

Some news from the other end of the scale / ranking ladder :) This thread reminds me that I still have to attempt my first 0 year victory... Currently playing a few quick tiny games in order to get that racial victory medal. 2-3 more games should bring me to fleet captain as well as bump me at least 100 places (assuming some 60 players rise faster than I do) to the mid 600's. I guess that when I ever have enough time -and patience- I should give the large galaxies a go, the
I too played without tech trading, but have learned the advantage of using it...
Some additional ideas which are commonly used when tech trading: 1) Sell military tech to a weak AI that is being bashed by other AI's. It's profitable and it will weaken the stronger AI's. When an AI has almost been wiped out (unless that's your doing) it's time to sell whatever they can still afford. 2) Sell terraforming techs to slow down an opponent a bit before you plan on attack

Team D: Noctilucus DA 1.80e Race: Korath Difficulty: challenging 6 Years 5220 pts Beyond Mortality (Technology victory) Time of submission: see time of my post Quite disappointing but I only had the time for 1 game so far. Glad to see some other people have been struggling as well. Especially the lack of tech trading is murderous...

Just about the Korath, I did need some military ships next to spore ships since I only managed to take out 1 AI during the opportunity window; the terran alliance already built some weak ships, colony ships and transports when I moved in on them.
Interesting. Identical scores one with one good the other evil.
Unfortunately... I was aiming for a faster game with the Korath (the previous game is one of the few I've ever played with the Arceans) but I ended up with exactly the same score in spite of a totally different approach.
My submission for Round 6... Is this an adequate submission? I don't know how to submit a game directly from the MV account.
Usually we also post a screenshot from our MV score, see the post of Elwood011 as an example; I don't remember whether such a screenshot is necessary, in any case it doesn't hurt to post it.
and welcome back Nocticulus. (Citizen)Noctilucus Just a spell check.
Thanks, I overlooked that one :p The "Citizen" one is the correct one. Next time I'll name myself Noct, should be easier :)

I play it on laptops only (I've got 2 laptops and travel often so I have absolutely no intention to buy a desktop soon). It runs OK though with some pauzes during AI ship movement and a bit of stutter when moving the camera view (pentium M 1.6 GHz with 512 MB RAM; 32 MB video RAM). I haven't tried any galaxies bigger than "large" though. But that's ok since I don't have the time for such vast undertakings anyway :p

Looks complete, as far as I can tell :) Good idea to post the screenshots, that way you're sure you included all settings...

My focus goes to military starbases & military resources. After that it's a rush to capure some planets. If I happen to know that the AI is short on cash, economic resources make a good target as well. That's the only case where I attack AI freighters, except if they would just happen to be in my path. Prior to invading a planet, I also take out any morale boosters since it helps when using information warfare.

I usually start building a few early Defenders and go for Beam technology, then name all upgraded Defender designs as "Defender" + attack + type of weapon (B beam, M missile, D mass driver) - For faster upgrades I add the designation 'S'; for long range 'ER' - If I follow a different path of weapons, I use the same naming convention; only the initial defender will be a custom design in this case. As soon as I have access to medium hulls, I do the same with "Battle axe", etc.<br/

Here some answers (for example I don't feel qualified to answer your first question since I haven't played the Krynn more than a few times) 2) Researching econ techs is not the only way to increase your income, you can also go for population growth boosts. Early colonizations will always run into debt, regardless of the tax rate; boosting the population will get them into the green much faster. Also, it's often worth only colonizing decent quality planets, leaving the PQ 4 -6 in the
