Hi folks! Yeah, I have Win 8 on my gaming computer, but not on my regular media computers. I find that web surfing is easier with Vista and Win 7, but Win 8 is a nice gaming platform. I'm looking forward to Win 8.1 later this month. Hopefully, it'll have some of the lost functionality back. If not, I'm ok with Vista and 7. I haven't reinstalled GalCiv 2 onto my gaming computer yet, but might sometime later. Definitely looking

Thanks for the link, flagyl! :) I removed adblock plus and replaced it with disconnectme. Some screens seem to load about the same speed as before, but one of my favorite websites is gocomics. With all the flash ads and trackers, it used to take several seconds to load a page. Now, it's less than a second. They claim up to 27% faster, but in that case, it's more like 3 or 4 times faster.

It looks to me like you're on the right track as far as colonization goes. The game is intimately linked to population and economy. Colonization can have a huge negative impact on money. Keep your current colonization strategy. It works. The key is population growth. Try to keep your less populated planets at 100% morale as long as you can. I don't believe the "Tournament" mode is active any more. However, your Metaverse profile clearly shows your character, so you should be able to play a Metaverse game. Wow. Low cost? According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics , $10k in 1980 (when the Z-2H was introduced) is worth $28,219.78 in 2013 dollars. I'd like to have that much to spend on a computer. If I did, I'd use it to take a vacation instead. :)

OK, so I tried to force myself into liking Win8. While it's not the evil scourge from hell, It's simply annoying to use. It's not any specific big thing, but a whole myriad of tiny annoyances. They add up after a while. I reverted back to Vista64 and my media stuff, Acronis and CAD all work again. It's easier to shut programs off when I'm done with them and I can easily restart or shut my computer off when I want to. I'll p

I use MSSE and have no complaints. On other computers, I also use AVG (paid version), Bit Defender, Avast and Avira. No complaints there either, other than AVG can be a pain to disable when you need to do that. Of course, having a backup and being careful about where you tread on the interwebs will protect you better than any virus checker IMO. Things like Malwarebytes and Hijackthis also help.

I'm a little late to the party, but with Microsoft offering the Win8 Pro upgrade at $40.00, I just can't pass it up. I'm currently running 1 Win7 machine, 1 Vista 64, 1 Vista 32 and 3 XP Pros at the house. I like all of the offerings so far, so why not give the next one a try? Wow. I didn't think a thread from the metaverse would pop back up after being dead and buried for years. Old memories of a bygone era. Yep, back then, we had these things called "CD"s that held a small amount of music and even games! Some games even required the CD to be in the drive before you could play them. Nobody needed HDs bigger than 250GB and Windows could access a whopping 2 GB of RAM! Yeah, good times.

My wife and I both use bluetooth on our phones, but only in our cars. She has her phone paired with her car and I have mine paired with my car. Pretty handy, since the phone stays in my pocket/her purse and the controls are on the car's respective screens. I thought about getting one of those bluetooth ear thingys, but they seem kind of bulky and uncomfortable for what they do.
