I've never even gone for a tech victory! Any advice would be appreciated. The all labs strat should work nicely. Just remember to set your sliders to 100% military, focus military and build as many influence starbases as you can. Distribute them throughout the galaxy and remember to put transports next to every AI's planet. Yup. That should do it.

Perhaps a core setup like the empires would be nice,but I'd like to see a non-private thread where everyone, regardless of team affiliation can get in there and taunt each other. Chatting among teams and non-league members could happen in the same thread. It might even get a few more people interested. What do you think?

OK. I'm almost in. (Got an email offering the beta). I'm unclear on the Multiplayer part. Is it online now in the beta? Can we just get in there and have a good old fashion slugfest? (Note: Be easy on a noob. I'm interested in trying a multiplayer game, but this is new to me.)
Back to the basic question... Ascension.. do you think it is possible? No. The idea of ascension (as in Stargate) might be a cool story, but that's all it is.

I think you hit the nail right on the head. I don't normally use Psyonic weapons. They also aren't very valuable to trade. They could probably figure into a game with slow tech on a large map though. My wife and I just got back from a restaurant. Man, am I stuffed. Cool thanx, how can i resize it to 50x50? You can do that with the Windows Paint program. Open it and use the stretch/skew option and change the dimensions fron inches to pixels. You might need to play around with it before you get it exactly how you want it.
