https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/133257 ? perhaps you didn't know about it. if you did, ok, why not another? just figure that I might point you to the official and probably more well know one as well. :) edit: dang, got beaten by mere seconds.

well, if you look at it logically, entrenchment 1 1/2 - 2 months in beta, give or take. combine that with the work necessary to actually get to beta, throw in the original schedule of 1st in mid november, 2nd in feb/ mar, 3rd in early summer, and you should have some kind of educated guess. so, for me, a six month period seems a reasonable estimate. but then we don't know how much work is already done for the others. could be that the delay saw some effort on them too.

I guess you mean the neutral extractors found at uncolonisable wells such as gas giants, nebulae, etc. the TEC and advent use their colony frigate, the vasari their scout. these ships each have the ability to capture neutral resource asteroids. it does cost anitmatter and has a long cooldown though. also beware that these 'roids cannot be destroyed, ever, only capture from other players. be sure to get as many of them as you can (and defend them), they are a great boost to res

I'm also strictly against a supership, because ... it never feels like much strategy to bunker down and save for a 'all-purpose super ship of total annohilation'. if it's just a tad stronger than a capship, well, maybe, but something even stronger than fully upgraded starbase would at least for me be a definite no-no. but it's your thread. I just want my objection be noted and be done with it. if so many people want it, then have it your way. I don't have to get it after all and it <

'build on ...' can mean many things. is there a requirement to h

ugh. well, grindstone is one of those three in my entrenchment galaxy folder. there must be some connection here. probably the galaxy folder of the original is empty or even non-existant. just to be sure, could you go check it. it should be something like: C:\Programs\Stardock\TotalGaming\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Galaxy there you should find a good number of maps, significantly more than 3. not sure what to do if it isn't there or empty. maybe your

do you mean in the game or in the directory? if it's in the game, then that sounds wrong. have you switched through all the tabs via the button at the end? it switches small, medium, large and custom maps. maybe you somehow came into the custom one. if you just mean the galaxy folder in the entrenchment subdirectory, then that's ok, I only have 3 maps in there. you have already installed vanilla sins, yes? in the same folder as entrenchment (in fact, entrenchment shoul

maybe the place for a new thread, but: http://www.1up.com/do/reviewPage?cId=3173012&p=1 a B+ for entrenchment from 1up. as always a concise review, but it gets the essence I'd say.
possibly, as someone pointed out, 3) assault support for attacks. Except this doesn't work so well anymore since the population reduction lasts for a very long time, so if you intend to capture the planet after nuking it, you're shooting yourself in the foot with a rocket launcher.
too true. that's why I only included it as a 'sort of' option.

I'm not sure if those pop numbers we have at the planets aren't something more like administration and occupation. it sure looks like the planet is nuked to the stone age, but it was not supposed to mean that every single sentient being was in fact wiped out. but I could be wrong there, it's just something I think I picked up in beta so long ago.
I thought that number was broken. After a check of the advent I can tell you that with max research in advent culture mitigation is only 6% Advent also has another tech in their military tree that offers +4% mitigation to all units, for a total of +10% along with culture. Anyways, the underlying problem is that no matter how high you push shield mitigation, it always possible to launch

most strange. I'd say you need to check, if auto-attack is in fact activated, it's something else than the engagement distance, in the normal unit menu, not the tactical submenu. but I figure you probably already checked that and it would be unusual for it to be screwed up unless you played around with it. most strange.

So it's 40%, 80%, and 100% with 3rd shot!
yup, which makes it quite nasty against pop rich planets like terran, desert or ice. I'd prefer to nuke the enemy hw, because that's usually where most of the income is settled and the hw upgrade is quite expensive to get, but with only one I'm not sure you can do it fast enough. certainly not with 2 or shots, but several once they are ready might

some additions to annatar11's post: the advent starbase also get a unique upgrade that raises allegiance and thus income and resource generation at the target planet. 15% per level last time I looked. furthermore (at least last time I looked, I wouldn't think it was changed), the synergy ability of advent point defense also gives a bonus to shields to nearby other turrents. 250 shield points per turrent if I'm not mistaken. not sure how much it stacks. also, I was under the im

all good suggestions, but let's not forget that if the reports are accurate, then maybe some ai routines are faulty. it should not surrender with most of its fleet still intact and several planets under its control. only when the majority of the fleet has been destroyed or it's in total so hopelessly outnumbered and the hw is under siege or dead should surrender be offered.

yeah, the novalith is quite useful for that. also, remember that the other superweapons also got a boost. vasari get a phase node where it hits and advent get a damage boost (25% last I looked) inside the grav well. quite useful those things now.

as to the first: as other have outlined in other threads, you get two abilties with the meteor upgrade, 1) the ability to attack planets and 2) the ability to attack ships. in most cases you'd primarily go for it because of the 2nd one, but hey, you get the first one also and it may be useful if you are attacking planets. it means that you will need less/no siege frigs, which with the price and all is always a good thing. so, in short, no, the meteor upgrades are also quite useful in defense,
