Works great for building blockades at stars! The AI builds them... but it never uses the deploy mobile phase disruptor ability... guess it doesn't know when or how to do it. Did the same for Advent with a antimatter support ship that had a boost antimatter abili

hm hm, last I read, they still have problems with the synch bug, don't they? I'd say they won't release it before that, so once it is solved, they will start making the beta package. after all, it should be in a beta testable shape by now. I hope.

tz tz. that should have been "and now witness the power of this fully armed and operational battlestation". 5 imaginary dollars to who gets the reference. btw you might want to change the screenshot date. just because you're not sure when it comes out, you don't have to write 2009 to further demoaralise the waiting lot. hope to get more info - or better yet the beta - soon. :D but the screens are a nice teaser.
I'm not sure what you guys are talking about. Auto capturing neutral mines is a priority over auto search, unfortunately the scouts never have enough am when they pass the mines so they just do their auto search instead. I've deffinately had scouts auto capture while both are on auto though on the rare occasion they have am for it. Would be awesome for Vasari to get research to dramatically reduce the phase jump am cost for sc

lets try a few answers. 2) gauss canons, or defense structures in general, are only really useful when used in clusters and in combination with repair centres and maybe hangars. beware though that defenses in this game do not serve so much as a defense in itself, but rather a network to support ships stationed there. thus, with a clever ship and structure layout you can drive off a much larger force. 4) not at all. for one thing, distance to homeworld matters on the amount of

on topic. the long research times are indeed a balancer for longer games, I tried it from time to time and it really takes ages to reseach anything. on the cost side ... well, I guess higher costs will actually work, bc you also profit from the benefits a lot longer. if for example, a metal processing upgrade costs 800 instead of 400 and the according metal/ crystal adjustments, though with an unchanged effect, then it is likely equalled out by profiting from it for 8 hours instead of 3 or so
that could only work so long as the 'auto capture' routines do not take precedence over the 'auto expore' routines. otherwise you would have a ship that you want to scout (to gather intel!) sit around an extractor, waiting to am to accumulate for the capture. also, with scouts constantly jumping around like crazy, do you think there is even enough am left for them to do it? Add to that that a good number of the neutral grav wells have 1

That way not everyone has to start with stuff that they don't want/need for their strategy.
more complicated to implement, you would need an extra 'point allocation' screen or mode. my point was that I just gave the basics, plus lots of resources, because they are de facto points with which you can get stuff. lets be serious, e

well, there could be a mixture of quick start and something else. what if there were an option that started you off with say all extractors placed, 10 or so basic frigates (exact number balanced through races), a few scouts, maybe the capship yard placed, a colony ship and a bunch of resources (thus, a lot more) at your disposal. I don't think it would change the game that much, but that can quite easily shave off 5 to 10 minutes of build up time I'd say. not much, but surely nice for

hey, some of these suggestions have been brought up and there is in fact a package in the works which will improve diplomacy in various ways. unfourtunately we have next to no details on that, but I think it is something that will be of interest to you. I am very curious about it, because imo the diplomacy and non-military part is something where the game could benefit from some improvements. so lets see what the devs will give is there.

how about an intermediate mode between no autoplace at all and autoplace everything? if that kind of thing were autoplaced intelligently, I wouldn't have to center of that particular grav well, look at the position and do it, which does take quite a bit more time than just clicking and its done. now, I don't think I would ever really chose to autoplace tactical structure, that is just too sensitive. but for cilvilian buildings ... I do not really care as long as they stay reasonably c

saw it. on this topic, I should say that while I understand that a practical mp scene won't work with standard games lasting 2 hours +, part of the appeal of the game to me is exactly that it is slower. but then, with fast settings and other tweaks, we can probably have the right dose for each person. that said, the game could need a few other victory conditions that could make it easier to claim vicory if one team starts gaining the upper hand. a % of planets owned, of cultur

not bad. I have two myself. though I'm not quite sure. starcraft had a lot of game modes, but have any of them really been played that much? isn't that just a fairly fringe aspect? King of the Hill get points for holding a certain key strategic point, maybe like the sun. the more units you have there, the more points you get. once you have enough points, you win. of course cutting off the supply line before an attack on the central point is just as valid a strat

I am not the technically savy guy, but others will surely ask for more information before they can help you. what does not work? can you not log in to ironclad online? can you not host games? can you not join them? is it just slow? what kind of error message, if any, is displayed? just write everything that you think has to do with the problem and might help others solve it. that way you get better and faster answers. sorry if I cannot be more helpful.

I am quite confident that everyone who preordered is eligible for beta. it's the way it has been for the main game and I think stardock itself handles it similarily for their games, so it seems policy around here. and a good one I may add. just stick around for any announcements. and don't worry, it is perfectly normal to load these forums several times a day to look for news regarding entrenchment or the beta *twitch*. perfectly normal.
