Overall idea isn't bad. I don't like the idea of calling them Battlecruisers however, as those were capital ships. I think a better idea might be to make more variety in the Capital ships however, so some might cost most capital ship points than others. You could have a massive ship that carriers like 12 fighter squadrons and nasty abilities, but cost 5 slots, while a more limited capital ship would cost just one. Compromises would cost i
Does building 3-5 really hurt you that bad in MP? Because it sure helps waste planets faster. You don't have to build 80 of them to be useful. It would definitely be an obnoxious unit to spam if that were possible.
hm. I think the main problem is that they take up an so much fleet supply. with 14 you can already get the tec or vasari versions of light carriers and 5 of those are not something to be neglected. alternatively, you can
'here, take my +1 axe' classic. next thing would be that our capships start out blank and we can select which class and race the are and what size and colour they would be and then they'd develop into vastly different ships. sins of a solar elder scroll.
two remarks: 1) the distribution, even in huge maps, is deliberately chose bc the devs thought (or at least I heard so I think) that being all alone for a good portion of the map and merely fighting militia and pirates would get boring and dull soon, so they tried to get conflict going fairly early - by placing players together, no matter the size of the rest of the map. 2) for this to work, I'd imagine the ai would need quite a few changes in the starting makeup. like less em
lore-wise I think that when the TEC was formed out of all those trader worlds, simply not all of them joined, so some stayed neutral. those are the planets you have to conquer all the time. and some of them happen to be more developed and thus are colonised and have hangars and more. I would like some extra emphasis on those neutral worlds, like that they develop on their own to a certain degree. and a non-bloody solution to get them into your empire, or diplomacy with the in general.
Well I remember Stardock mentioning they didn't want to undercut the european distirbutor (Kalypso) with the entrenchment download. Meaning that Kalypso must be releasing them in some form, and I expect it would be in a physical form...
point. but that may just as well refer to the possible complete package and not entrenchment alone.
Centurion, could you please stop ranting about how singleplayer isn't the 'real' Sins experience and how we're chickens for playing it? This is at least the 2nd thread you've crapped up with such nonsense. Multiplayer is great and I'm glad you and others enjoy it. I do as well when my friends have time to play. When they don't, singleplayer is there for me to enjoy, especially when I don't know how much time I'm going to h
there was talk about releasing all three micro expansions as a boxed version, but it was later recalled. therefore, you might see a retail version when all are released, which could be around next summer. that was the original plan, but with a slight delay for entrenchment already, I am not sure whether that plan will hold. entrenchment alone however is download only and will remain so. does not pay to get all the fixed costs for releasing a smaller, cheaper package.
hmm, foood. *drool*.
Busterzperson, the funds are only deducted when it is released. Its likely you're looking at something else. Sorry we don't have a date for the beta release. We aren't going to give quite as much advanced warning this time due to the negative feedback when we had to push it ahead last time.
probably better this way. in this industry, pressure can cost you enourmously and the best way to avoid pressure is to
not just in sins, but in any game. I never was an intense mp player and never will be. and usually I dont play nearly often enough to keep track and improve enough. but I don't mind. I don't intend to be a pro, I just want to have some fun and playing larger team games is just so much different with all the team work and coordination, you just dont have that in sp. seriously, I saw a player in ico with 300 games. I don't even have 300 mp games over all the games I ever played in my li
Quoting Shadowhal, reply 4are you not contradicting yourself? one the one hand you say that having many capital ships isn't possible in a competitive game (actually, you said having 16, but in order to have a reasonable planet killing force you need at least some 3 - 4 per fleet, which is also not very doable) and on the other hand you dismiss siege frigs as useless.Ok I was wrong. I COULD agree less. The thing about dropping in siege frigs via
yup. the siege frigs are a delicate thing. anyone who remembers the early versions can think of the havoc that siege spam brought. horrible. even against the ai.
I couldn't really agree less. If you made 16 caps and survived, it means you aren't playing a competitive game. As for the fleet concentration, of all the three races the Vasari have the royal privilege of being able to move swiftly all around the system. This means that they, of all the races, SHOULD abuse the chance to make concentrated, overpowering strikes and then adapt quickly to enemy counterstrikes (by sending a par
answer. I'm not sure how many different copies you can have in parallel or if there even is a limit. I run it on two machines and it is no problem. the one still has the beta 3 patch, this one has 1.10. so, from experience I'd say it should not be any problem. I once heard you can have two copies at any time and that you can use them for lans too. I think it was done to encourage spread and make it easy to play with a friend who may then proceed to pick the game up. at least I
hard to say, I'd also go for a beta fight. we had a fairly big 4 on 4 going and I was in one of the fringe positions right next to one of the best players at that time. the battle was over a terran planet 1 jump from both our homeworlds. there were several battles over it, but the last was the greatest with fleet of about 5 different players engaged in a massive fight and my defenses (up to that point it was still my planet) were slowly but steadily being overrun. a nice displ

I am just wondering why people start complaining now? I mean, a) this was clear for months, keen observes could have told you that at the game's release even. b) has this not been the publisher's policy for previous games too? I think that gal civ 2 updates required stardock central, which was impulse's predecessor. I wouldn not say I am an adamant impulse fan, but it does have its advantages and I also grant the company to implement something of this kind to avoid pirated copies acce

well, what I do like to do is, as a first step, get a repair station and a few turrets in its vicinity and upgrade the planet's emergency facilities. if you place your logistics structure in that cluster also, then at least you have a little time to react and get a proper defense in place. that is what I do for border worlds and possible one jump further early on. depending on the map setup and how much I get attacked, I get tactical upgrades and sation more repair centres, canons and
