Is the name fo the expansion set in stone? I find "Diplomacy" to be a weak name. What about something like "Armistice"?
maybe that's the first order of business: making a poll or suggestion on the pack's name. would be somewhat ironic though. basically the first real thing (aside from the few vague statements about its rough content) the community would get to know is provided by the community :D I propose 'sins of a solar emp

because it fits so well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Yg_p7Rik5g&feature=related my opinion: sure, batman has near endless resources and is very clever at countering his adversaries. but supes just has so few weaknesses and he isn't exactly stupid either. he'd anticipate and prepare for kryptonite-based measures. I say supes wins. though batman is the cooler hero. that iron will, the sheer determination and his readiness to get rough, when he needs to ... it just fits a
well, in fact many of the fs 1 era ships were still in use in fs 2, just in a lesser capacity, bc they were just that: old, outdated and underpowered, but still useful in some situations or extreme situations. I'd the most sorting out happened with fighters and here this mod should have no problems, since there is - naturally - a huge selection to pick from. on the colossus: well, keep in minds they were speaking volume, and the colossus is a very compact vessel. you see, it is only a
more good news. interesting option to be able to research multiple techs simultaneously. and of course slightly randomised tech trees are also a plus. it really does increasingly look like a very good game.
hm, simple, yet elegant. good point, since it involves less screen clutter and does more or less the same thing. maybe it could also be possible to set a new standard or default for angles and distance, for example depending on galaxy size.
you know, in larger games, in particular with multi-star maps, you kind lose orientation a bit. so I though why not introduce a little navigational aide, which would be designed like a compass. a circle with markings and numbers at regular intervalls be it N E S W or 360°, 90° or 12 hrs, 3 hrs. it can well be reduce to just just 'enhanced view' display i.e. you only see it when holding down alt for the extra info, so that you won't get confused. iirc the original homeworld had somethi
wow, you are a productive fellow. I do agree with darvin3 though that if implemented, that there should be choices involved. not necessarily all of them, the solar flare one or the random resource inflows sound fair enough. on another note: would it be much use to transform a desert planet into a terran one? I mean, sure more pop, but I doubt that can mess with the extra cash you could have from the extra trade ports, especially if the planet is a few jumps away.
YES! YES!!! nice to hear a lifesign. now, of course, I am curious what those changes will be, like polls or open discussion or whatever. and 'starts to get closer to beta' also sounds sweeet. interestingly enough: is there no name yet or will it simply be called diplomacy? I mean that would be fine, but having a product almost in beta stage and not knowing its name is perhaps uncommon (though it would be exactly the stuff happening to me, I'm bad at naming).
yeah the strike craft are not in the correct proportions compared to the bigger ships. all this will be rectified with the new FS2 mod in the works. sugarshane, the only thing i cant think of is that a file may not have been copied over when using the patch, like the string file?
alright, cool. btw. have you any kind of ship relations model? like what kills what etc.? bc one of the challenges I th
running nicely for me (for now). I like it. is there any way to show wormhole lines permanently? they are named nicely and all and you can click to see the connections, but it's still pretty cumbersome. I guess it wasn't designed for this, but it would be a shame, since the wormhole connections more or less take the function of phase lines in vanilla sins and you did a good job on the job as far as I can tell. a minor observation? the fighters seem pretty large compared to oth
I think that is just the point. I don't want sins to be purely about combat and preparation for combat. I have played more tbs than rts in recent years and I really like those dimensions and I would well pay for a well-built expansion in that direction. some of you aren't interested. fair enough. but a whole lot are. and don't forget that the online crowd is much the minority, there are quite likely far more ppl out there playing offline, so it can make business sense to cater to them t
I wasn't saying fleet split was a bad idea, I was sceptical as to how it could be put to good use. that said, I sort of do have an idea for it in mind. some here would probably have played imperium galactica II and this split fleet screen could be the basis. more or less a transparent overlay, where you could click all the ships over to the right side of the manager that you want to go to the new fleet. my revamped idea would go like this: same overlay, but at top you have a few slide
I have already posted some of these on the forums in the past, but they should also be here on the official suggestions thread i think: - Why is the limit for ship name lenght so strict? I cant even name my ship TDN Prometheus or TDN Enterprise without cutting off last letters. And I can only dream of TDN Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli (destructive god of the morning star, dawn, and of the east - Aztec mythology). At least increase it to some
gotta go with telepathic stuff also aka mind reading primarily, mind altering also if possible. incredibly useful tool and you can sort of use it and still hide it from everyone. most other stuff is too obvious and I would not see any clear benefit other than being cool. oh, and be careful about invincibility, that could well bite back. imagine being sentenced for life or sth. the idea of actually spending all eternity locked in would ... kill me. or rather drive me insane.
I played the original Civ way back there, then Civ 2 which was really by Brian Reynolds who later started Big Huge Games that produced Rise of Nations. Civ 3 I really liked about up to the Enlightenment, then I usually restarted. Civ 4 with the expansions is a huge improvement, IMHO. Colonization is coming up to speed finally, I think. Might give it another whirl. But, check out civfanatics and you will see that Civ 3 and Civ 2 are stil
I join in the lot and say that it's an incredible game, which I have probably sunk 100s of hours into. you should best get the complete compilation, bc that would by now likely be the cheapest way if you want the expansions also (though bts includes many of warlords concepts, just not the scenarios which were not that interesting for me anyway). you can also check out a few of the mods once you got into the game. I played Rhye's and Fall and revolutions, which are both very good mod t
too bad on all that. nasty escalation of things. well, work on it when you can, I look forward to a release whenever it will be.
interesting ideas here. I like the more customised trade and having to buy trade ships. of course, either the trade port would have to be cheaper then or the total return greater, otherwise trade would be less interesting. here is how I would like to see it: 1) you don't build individual trade ships, but small fleets, a bit like in MoO 2. these fleets act as one unit, think of strike craft squads. that way, you don't have a constant stream of ships going through, but rather a few small fleetl

well, depends on what you expect from such a movie. is an intelligent movie? hell no! does it explain everything? not exactly. are there inconsistancies? there are. but is it fun to watch? yes, quite so. it's really two hours of metal-trashing, action packed mindless fighting. if you expect much more than that, you'll probably be disappointed. btw, didn't see part 1, but I doubt that so much more would be explained there. picked up the basics during the movie and read up on wikipedia

I do have a little theory, it probably amounts to nothing, but I just thought 'hey, maybe'. I think I heard someone of SD or IC post that they weren't entirely happy by how the concept of mini expansions was accepted. I have no clue about sales figures, I'd still say that entr. sold fairly well, and it did get generally good reviews, but the issue of 'content' did come up as a con sometimes. so, maybe, they hold off a bit and bundle #2 and 3 together somehow. might help get more attention and
ogrovs are cruisers and lvl 4 research. they're probably the best thing in a game vs a starbase. quite satisfying to watch a dozen of these guys just rape that big, fat expensive enemy sb. advent equivalent, the adjudicator is also good, but more vs a whole cluster of defenses rather than one big target. and vasari of course get their offensive sb. alternatively, bombers also work fairly nicely, though you'd also have to protect them from enemy fighters. just, whatever you do:
