LOL! TOS is true trek. Not the regurgitated, boring, and overdone plotline berman, and braga crap. Least JJ abrams nuked the trek timeline from orbit b4 he hit the reset button. The ONLY reason i am doing TNG era is because i cannot re-design, and mesh an entire six plus faction TOS fleet from scratch by myself. I originally planned to do a mod based on the SFB universe "Federation, and Empire" game. However i refuse to use the star

I dunno, I thought it was less than half the size of a galaxy. something like 200 - 300 meters. at least in the current public version it did not strike me as badly scaled.
yeah, have 1701 special edition and it's a really nice game. also tried the new game's demo and I fairly pleased so far (though I still need more time with it for a verdict). beware though, ubisoft slammed a fairly nasty drm on the thing. something with limited activations as in spore. in case that's an issue. I also think it goes by a different name overeas, something dawn of discovery.
I dunno about the module change. they aren't designed for anti-structure roles and if you use them against defenses you must either be a bit desparate or stupid or it doesn't matter anyway since you have so many. the change from very light ... well. lrfs do get a pretty tough bonus, so it probably wouldn't hurt that much, as they'd still cream them pretty easily. instead of upping dmg against very heavy, how about lowering lrf dmg also to 50%? I mean the hc can already be coun
the general idea of multiple sliders each displaying one dimension of internal policy decisions is actually quite good. fairly simple and direct, yet can give lots of strategic options. though I always thought that research should somehow play a role in those internal decisions and I can't see a very good concept for that. maybe more research could allow you to take more extreme positions or it could allow you to change your alignment faster/ with less cost involved. maybe that's a start, but
yup, it's all in the files. kol for example starts with .6 and gains .2 per level ( things get command point or squad per round number) just dl the forge tools and look it up in the reference data. you could probably open the actual files too, but I have no idea what program to use for .entity files. or whatever their type is.
So I take it this applies to all sc capable ships including sbs.
what do you mean? the 50% penalty? yeah, it should. not sure if it affects hangars, but they too should have the pently. capships definitely have it.
indeed, I think that behavior is quite intended. a general penalty to all carriers in case of enemy presence and an extra penalty for those under attack. and the 75% first and from that 50%. imagine a 25% rate in total, that would really hurt.

Especially for something like magic, there's all manner of precedents for great minds working with few or no material supports like libraries. A champion researcher posted to a mages' guild would boost their output, but she should still have a basic output of her even if you just let her hang i
. Bring order to the world of Elemental... one way or the other...
sounds like darkseid: so that I shall bring order to an aimless universe that would be an interesting victory condition or at least game-ender movie: reshape the world in your image, bring order by wiping everyone off the map who does not support your ideas of a perfect world or something like.
I assume you mean your own defenses. it's the same as for all the ships. there is a 'scuttle' function, the button is located under the unit window. so basically in the middle of the screen (horizontally speaking) and at the very bottom. it sort of looks like just an aesthetic UI part, but it's really a button. you even get a small refund if you scuttle stuff.

nice pics on that starbase and trading station. like it. I gotta say though that a few things weren't that bad in armada. I really liked their dmg model (though it only makes sense for smaller engagement than you would have in sins) and the missions/ story were ok. of course, ship balance and race diversity were horrible. it was an enjoyable game for me. never liked part II though, too fast, too much for its own good. borg having sleep as weakness sounds a bit like hypnosis 'l
exactly. map size and pure distances (keep in mind larger map sizes usually mean more active players, unless you specify otherwise). in 4x games, it takes time to scout out the map in, find the other players and send your army over there, provided you have one ready and it is well equipped to whatever path your enemy took militarily. also, a second city is not only a liability, it produces stuff! maybe not so much in the first couple of turns, but by the time any sort of real war takes place
good to see that you saw the critique and that you respond with an according change. also good to know you considered a lot of different options and further monitor whether the change results in balance or whether further trimms are needed. and lastly, thx for clarifying how the penalty works. too often -75% penalty was posted, when, if fact, that's never been the value.
maybe one other thing to note: big does not necessarily mean territorially big, it could for example also refer to a large amount of (possibly fairly undeveloped) territory or to just one or two massive cities. that might mean less territory, small in a sense, but you might still have a high industrial and military capacity. and of course it'd be much easier to defend. on the other hand ofc you might not have access to all the resources you want.
The only thing about this post that disappoints me is that it looks like there won't be dynamic alignment selection. I think allowing alignment to change during the course of the game would allow for tons of opportunities, both for play style and diplomacy. That said, I guess it'd be possible to start out as a given alignment but still change during the game. After all, good can turn to evil and vice versa.
yea
nice post. together with the glimpse of the zoom function in the demigod related journal I get quite interested. hope for some more posts and reports on the early builds. @ necromancy: it's been said: there are cemetaries. seriously, having no bodies for resurrecting would only be a problem if the race has just into existance. or if there has been an event to not only killed everything, but also turned the bodies into dust. otherwise, who cares if the target died age 80 of heart failu
TheRezonator: Yes, the setup you suggested is the reason mitigation doesn't counter FF at present. What we're suggesting is that 100 damage per second would mitigate 40% of the damage, whilst 1000 damage per second would mitigate 80% (Or something like that, I just pulled those numbers out of my ass). So the more fire you lay into a ship, the more damage it resists. Of course, focus fire still has its place - 100DPS at 40%mit is 60DPS ef

I tried the beta several days ago. wasn't very impressed, but also not disappointed. sort of a 'not bad, but also not good.' in your review I saw many things that were not in the beta, so I checked the bing page again. it was still beta until I selected U.S. as a country of origin and voilá, these features came on. so, a little no-no that they didn't not bother to bring my language version out of beta. I agree, I like the video feature, it's pretty nice. I also tend to
