Sins is having a campaign right? I heard somewhere (can't remember where) that any campaign would be saved for the expansion. I really, really, REALLY hope I heard wrong as I love campaigns (though I'll probably end up buying the game anyways if it doesn't).

Adding in a really powerful custom capital ship (even a much more expensive one) would probably end up really screwing over the game balance. So I'd probably have to be against the idea.
Hackers always break whatever copy protection games put on in a few days anyways so why bother. Stardock IMHOP is probably less likely to have games illegally downloaded because fewer honest people are likely to get frustrated with all the hoops they have to jump through. I understand why companies want compensation for their work (and in many cases they definitely deserve it) but the PC gaming industry was profitable before stuff like Starforce (aka Satan) and it will still be profitable withou
I do have to say from a logical stand point, its rather hard to justify stealing a technology meaning that a person loses that tech. I have to agree with Ron that anyone with two brain cells could come up with the idea of back up copies. And even if there is an empire wide internet type thing, a government wouldn't put all its information soley on the internet system because of that very threat of hacking. Finally, hacking into government files is no mean feat. The US Defense Department for inst
You know what would help with team coordination would be support for microphones. Will Sins have that in the final version (or does it already)?
Good job Multi! You kicked ass and took names. But I really feel sorry for P5y getting ganged-banged like he did.
Lay off the bean burritos TGE...your farts are getting profiles on the forum .
its probably an artifact of "old wealth" and their economic system. Seriously? Ireland and "old wealth?" Do you know the history of Ireland? For centuries the Irish were controlled by the British. The only rich families allowed were protestant (who either moved to Britain or Northern Ireland after Irish independence) or British. Ireland is not a nation of extensive "old money." Secondly, if its their economic system, then isn't that the point.
9 million sq. miles (alaska is 663,000 sq miles) while the entire EU comprises 3.2 million sq miles. Sorry my figures were in sq. km not sq miles. I looked at the CIA worldfact book figures and we are about twice as large as you said Karma...but that is a lot more land for: resource gathering, farming, herding, and population growth. We are NOT almost the exact same size as the EU in raw land mass figures <
The lower 48 is almost the exact same size as the EU in raw land mass figures. The lower 48 states comprises over 9 million sq. miles (alaska is 663,000 sq miles) while the entire EU comprises 3.2 million sq miles. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1_E12_m%C2%B2 The US is about 3 times larger than the EU and its resources have not been exploited nearly as long as the EU's (except for oil the US could easiely be self-sufficient if we wanted t
Ok how about what is the best kind of pie? I contend that only pumkin pie has the moral fiber to be considered the best kind of pie! Apple pie is for imperialistic capitalists!
This worked in HW/HW2 because of the relative small number of ships present (making each ship 'worth' more) True, but remember that the TEC is supposed to be a race which pumps out lots of relatively weak ships. My guess is that the Vasari at least, perhaps the Advent as well, will have a smaller number of more valuable ships. "Salvaging" would definitely be worth it with them.
Giving the droped player's empire to an AI (a better one than what's in the beta's hopefully) might be a good idea. I know from other games where people take over from logged off or droped players that managing two empires/bases at once in RTS's can be a big hassel. Given Sins' complexity and depth I doubt that the job would be any easier in this game than Warcraft 3 or Rise of Nations(probably would be significantly harder). If your going to give it to a player, my first instinct is to
*waits 30 seconds*....HAHAHAH
Leif, Thank you for reminding us that people die in war. I'm sure no one remembered that (sarcasm). You cannot place the blame for the 3,000,000 deaths in Vietnam soley (or perhaps even mostly) on the US. First of all, lots of those deaths came from North Vietnamese attacks and the South Vietnamese killed a lot of people too. Secondly, North Vietnam was the aggressor. Now, the US probably overstated the significance of defending South Vietnam, but they were our ally so it was o
Karma, I thought I laid out my long term solution in my first post. Provide a federated government with much of the power lying in the provinces. I think the Iraqi central government is too prominent and has too much power to work in a place like Iraq. Furthermore, if weakening the central government fails, I already pointed out that even if Iran was able to take control of the Shiite region, they would not be any where near powerful enough to challenge the US effectively. For
I never played MOO3 but I was an avid player of the previous two MOOs. However, my brother played MOO3 (also a lover of MOO1 and MOO2) and hated it. I hope that Sins turns out a lot better than MOO3 (which I curse for ruining the franchise which first introduced me to 4x gaming! )
More variety is almost always a good thing. This kind of change would be relatively simple and place empahsis on defending some planets more than others due to their larger amounts of resources. I like it. Seconded!
Statistically one half of the American population has below average intellegence...and they are over-represented in the government.
I see our President Bush has not been brought up on any "War Crimes" That's because people who win wars have no one to bring them to war crimes trials. Speaking of war crimes, the first war crimes trials at Nuremburg were actually kind of a legal farce. Yes the holocaust did happen and it was horrible, I'm not saying that it didn'y/wasn't. Yes Germany did start an aggressive war, again I'm not saying the Nazis were good

purple stars would make chicks want to play it, and thats the LAST thing we need Remember everybody, eet has already hooked up with Yarlen so any girls which might steal "Yarley" away from eet would be bad for him.
Think of the random 'dissapearances' that happen in the more remote areas of the country. Serial killers, died in the wilderness and eaten by animals, aliens, could be any of those.
TGE, The United States and its allies cannot go into every nation that is killing its own citizens en masse, especially if we're not allowed to kill people while doing it. Don't get me wrong, I'm basically an optimist. I believe that people can make things better (though never perfect). However, shipping off a bunch of troops to every nation which violates human rights is not practical. Furthermore, it is US interference in nations and our belief that we know what's right for the world
why do i get green stars? I've asked that same question with no response. My guess is that its just one of those unanswerable mysteries of life.
