Well in the current Beta the equipment you choose in setting up your soverign does appear on the pewter model, which is also in the pose you choose. No reason they can't have the equipment show in game when you change it. In fact that is how it works at the moment though the full graphics engine is not in of course just cloth map and pewter figures.

I would especially like to see Science and Technology separated. Science should be researched in different fields and lead to break throughs which should then make new technologies available for development. Certain technologies should open new fields of scientific research as should certain Scientific achievements themselves. This would mirror the way Science and technology inte

I've no complaint, this game has been out years and had lots of love from Stardock as well as two great paid expansions that really took it to another level. I think it's amazing Stardock are still producing patches for it (in a good way) I know of no other software company which wouldn't have long since abandoned it. Mindon you I'm looking forward to Elemental, the beta is certainly promising, but not as much as GC3 can't wait for that....but sadly I have to :-) &nbsp

I never really liked GC1 I have to say, because I couldn't design ships. But GC2 particularly with both expansions is great, though I agree I miss turn based combat and thin both space combat and planetary invasion need work in GC3.
Tactical Battles. Tactical battles haven’t been part of the beta but they’ve been heavily discussed. Originally, tactical battles were designed to be RTS. Then Continuous turns. But as time has gone on, it’s become clear that the gameplay that people (and frankly that we enjoyed the most) was more closest to XCom. That is, turn based. Tile based. Moving units to the best spots. And eventually working to have your units in sp

No sign that stardock are making MO4 other than wishful thinking. I hope Stardock do make a GCIV3 though, 2 was excellent especially with the expansions. Actually it was my one source of comfort when the long awaited MO3 turned out to be one of the worst games in history, (and I was one of those who really tried hard to learn to love it) GCIV2 was there to pick up the the pieces.

The Cloth & AI stuff is impressive. The Breaking and deformation stuff has been done before by Valve for example their physics engine seems about as good to me. And I'm not going to say nice things about Havok until Intel agree to give Stardock the 64 bit version rather than trying to charge seperatley, the cheeky beeps!

A curse upon Intel for their greed ;-), let's hope they decide to be reasonable. I guess this is the price of using third party products in your game engine though, still I'm sure Elemental will be great even if thanks to Intel there is no 64Bit version.
As the title implies, the store page for Elemental should be updated to reflect that the game will not be supporting 64bit versions (as per info posted on the forums). Simply this could be considered false advertising and I dont want to see Impulse get in trouble. Unless of course the game WILL support 64bit which would simply be awesome (even though my current gaming computer is only 32bit, but future ones will be 64).
They are intending
Some work on stability is good news. Elemental doesn't stay running long enough to complete a custom Sovereign for me... I can't do much testing of actual gameplay presently. cheers, Kul
Do what I do, save the game exit and reload about every 20 - 25 turns.

Yes I agree Soulfire777, one problem with Stardock games though is that they often implement major new features post release. So I think maybe online documentation that can be presented in a printable format is what we need so it's easy to update.
Hi everyone, One of the very few minor complaints I had about the GalCiv games was that the documentation that shipped with the games sometimes did not do a very good job of explaining some of the complex game mechanics. This left me frequently feeling like I was "guessing" about whether I was making good decisions on many things...sometimes for months before I could find decent answers to some of my questions. An example of this was figuring out h

Yes, I noticed stats seem to do nothing at the moment, I just wanted to point out to them that they shouldn't give away useful equipment free in the customisation screen. I figure they may have just forgotten some equipment has stats attached and so forgot to charge something for it. Might create more variety of sovereign for the multiplayer beta if the attach some cost at that point.
Quoting Tridus, reply 8 That said, I'm hoping the customization options in terms of sovereign clothing are just cosmetic and don't affect stats. I like to get into custom characters, and having to always give them a sword or else would be lame. (Or if they do have stats, the stats are balanced.) Frogboy (I think it was him) said once that the items the Sovereign carried were to have stats associated. And I

Yes report it, but read the beta forum rules on how to report it first so you can give them some useful information. At this point you can expect the game to still be unstable, maybe very unstable on some systems. But part of the reason for the fairly open beta is that the game is played on a wide range of systems.
I perfer option 1 as well ... spend some attribute points on your starting equipment. However, I think you should be able to equip your sovereign with items and equipment you find and research as the game goes on. IE, the Sov should have one of those "character sheets" that shows all potions, rings, necklace, pieces of armor, robes, cape, ect. This would have your stats in a lower left hand corner, and here you can pick different equipment, ect for
