What about the current 2D type map, but have the planets at different altitudes just for a little visual snap?
That's something I could live with. Just a little variation to make it look even more interesting. Also, wasn't the galaxy map in MoO3 in 3D as well? Of course, you could only travel from star to star, but still. I found it pretty easy to use.

Well, the beta is a bit limited in terms of available races. With a full set of opponents, you might not hit the range limit before making contact.

After playing some of the older CM titles (WW2 era), I now bought Shock Force. ATI problems aside (either have a 2 second delay whenever the mousecursor changes shape or have the 'compatibility' mode on with its inaccurate mouseclicks), it seems to be a great game. The usual mix of turnbased command phase and realtime execution is exciting, realistic and still give you enough time to think. So, long story short, anybody else here playing this? I'm looking for an PBEM opponent, or someon

It wouldn't be so bad, if Terror Stars could be fleeted. As it is now, to properly escort one, you have to manually move the fleet at the same pace as the Terror Star.

Finally got around to playing the new beta. And I have to say, I absolutely love the new tech tree. Or rather the new details window when right-clicking on a tech! Much better than the old one.

Looks great! Out of curiosity, will the loudness-problems some of us experienced during the invasion sequence be addressed? With the new screen looking that good, it'd be a real shame if we had to pay for it with our eardrums. ;)

That much VM could actually be counter-productive. As a rule of thumb, you shouldn't set it higher than twice your actual memory. Or at least that's what I always use as a guideline.

Lately I've been getting the dreaded Error 12 messages again when trying to submit a game. I already re-registered in SDC, tried everything that worked before... no chance. It only happens with the one character (Prostetnic Vogon Jeltz), the other two can submit just fine. Is there a chance for a mod to REALLY 'hard' reset / delete that one character?

Vader. Kona may have the numbers, but IMO lacks tactical finesse. Kane may have the finesse, but lacks numbers and technology. Both would probably put up quite a fight, though. Kona with his ferocious Drengin, Kane with ground based guerilla warfare. Vader may be able to glass one or two planets, but not every single one. So it's down to attrition, which puts Vader in front against Kane. Now, if you had asked "Kona, Kane or Grand Admiral Thrawn"... it wouldn't have even been qu
Knocking on Heavens Door: Probably not well known outside German speaking countries, Knocking on heavens door is actually a well known song. It is a very well known song actually - it was sung by Guns & Roses (...)
Actually, the song is by Bob Dylan. But I wasn't talking about the song, it's the movie that probably isn't known that well. <img src="smiles/Wink.gif" border=0 align="a

Serenity: After they discover the records on Miranda, when they decide to send them out on the cortex. Knocking on Heavens Door: Probably not well known outside German speaking countries, starring Til Schweiger, Jan Josef Liefers and Moritz Bleibtreu. Very good movie though, won several awards in '97. Two patients with terminal illness (cancer and tumor) decide to break out from hospital, steal a car and go see the ocean for their first (and last) time. [link="http://www.imdb.com/title/
