Third place - Star Trek II : The Wrath of Khan Khans final speech; Kirk yelling "Khaaaaan!". Khan is by far the most intense and impressive bad guy of all the Star Trek movies. Second place - Serenity Mals speech "I aim to misbehave". First place - Knocking on Heavens Door The ending scene with the two of them sitting on the beach, then one falling over presumably dead (after finally seeing the ocean).

For Metaverse, you can choose one of the existing racial tech-trees. For 'offline' play, you can use the editor to design your own tech-tree, iirc.

I'd like to see a small change in the ship details GUI. Currently, we can only view ship information while the ship is on the map. This means not only no way to see the (nice) intel report of orbiting ships, but also that to upgrade a ship we have to launch at least one of its type. So I'd like the possibility to view the details screen of ships in orbit.

Zyxpsilon: Looking forward to your mod. Not sure about using the original planet textures though. You might be better of using the current game ones with just your stuff added. TotA already has pretty hi-res planets, if you just replace some, it may look weird compared to the others. foxthree: No offense, but I wouldn't try any mod of yours. If just took 2 minutes to write your posts with proper punctuation... You're giving off the feeling like your mods are just as rushed and unfi

Depending on where there are opportunities for rounding errors, there may be a pattern: Ro = research output Rb = research bonus Br = base research The formula that works in DA supposedly is: Ro = Br * (1 + (Rb / 100)) The formula that produces the number in TA (both with AND without boni selected) could be: Ro = Br * (1 + (1 + (Rb / 100)) * (Rb / 100)) For the "No Research" it gives (rounded up) 24 and 27. For the "Max Resea

Agreed, the AI is so far the best I have seen. They scale very nicely with difficulty levels without resorting to blatant cheating. However, he rises a valid point: You DO research more or less blindly, because the techtree doesn't exactly tell you beforehand what you get. Makes it harder on the beginner, until you know what the improvements are. On the other hand, this is only realistic, most of the time we research towards a general goal, with the specifics becoming clearer only over

Hm. A conversion based on the X-Com series. That's something even I would download and try.
at that point, i believe i'll also contact the admins at the galactic core to see if they'd be willing to let me set up a password-protected digital workshop forum over there, and i will invite you all to offer critiques of this draft. they seem like pretty accomodating gents, so i'm hoping they'll be happy to oblige.
That would be great! I always thought about writing myself but decided that I lack both time and perseverance. So the ch
pndrev, don't get overly worked up on the subject. i've explained twice that the speed of light in a vacuum is constant and equal to c , [...]
Don't worry, it takes more to get me worked up. Mostly I was bored, so I thought I'd have a go as well. I'm just a bit irritated about the constant switching of subjects mid-argument...
sound is not constant.
In a given medium, it is. More to the point, you brought in the airplane example stating sound is constant. Please, make up your mind.
light also changes speed in space.
Where? And we are not talking about changing the transmitting medium. We are not talking about light being 'slowed down'. We are (Remember our torch?) talking about light exceeding the speed of light. Which it can't. <

Please read again what I said.
Constant in a given transporting medium
And please don't randomly switch subjects. You were saying (torch example) that you don't believe the SPEED of light to be a constant. You contradicted yourself by bringing forth the red-shift example (which in fact only supported my initial post). That gravity alters the DIRECTION of light, or that water changes the REFRACTION of light has nothing to do at all with the SPEED of light
when you hear someone talking you hear them at a constant speed. when you are in a plane moving twice the speed of sound and the man next to is talking. you hear him at the same constant speed.
Basically, your example is based on the word IN. IN a plane. Your both IN motion. Your both IN the same inertial system. The source of the speech and the receptor are moving at the same speed, plus you're IN an encl

MoO2 > Civ. That said, MoO2 > Anything, really. But yes, I occasionally play Civ4 with its two expansions. The AI is sadly nothing compared to GC2, but like MoO2, it's just a blast to play with a friend, cooperative against a bunch of hostile AIs. I still remember whole weekends, spend playing MoO2 without a break, trying for a faster win, one of us with a race dedicated to research, the other one dedicated to warfare. It was mostly a matter of how fast we could establ

Yes, min-maxing is a valid concern. That's why I would propose only one 'tier' of negatives, not several like there are for boni. One tier would be enough to create an interesting racial background and free up some points without giving way to a Space Empires-like min-maxing game.

8 Replies 9,659 Views

Choosing disadvantages in certain areas in order to free up points for other abilities is something I miss as well. I'm sure it can be modded in, but a single negative choice in each category in the official game would be nice.

I've seen it in other games (Il-2, flight simulator), where the gaming base is divided between those who want multiplayer and those who prefer singleplayer. In my opinion you can either make a good singleplayer game or a good multiplayer game, but not a game that is good at both. Implementing MP DOES take away from singleplayer. Budget, like Brad said. You have to prevent cheating. You have to do more balancing (look how many balance patches Blizzard releases). You get whining from the

Since I was bored, I just hacked up a new, more universal randomiser than the one I used up to now. So now there's another randomiser pending approval for the library. Yes, yet another randomiser for GalCiv2. Only this one can be used with ALL English versions of the game! Supported are GalCiv2: Dread Lords, Dark Avatar and Twilight! (It also works a lot faster than the other ones I've tried ) Can s
