Well, if you start with that, we'll have to be consistent: colour, armour, neighbour... elimination of the letter 'z'... I remember a very funny open letter by John Cleese on the subject, I'll see if I can find it when I'm home. pndrev Squire of the Queen's English
Yes, you can post AARs and make all the people who didn't pre-order jealous.
That's the spirit!
Since we're supposed to post bug reports in the public forum anyway, I guess that posting AARs and such is also ok? Never been part of a beta before, so I just want to be clear on that. Great job on the beta by the way, I've rarely been this excited about a new game.
Let's just pray SD has enough bandwidth to deliver all those betas.
*argh* Just when I decided to call it a day and check out the beta tomorrow... Oh well. Who need sleep anyway...
Check the details. It's a "version refresh only" - nothing (good, bad or even noticeable) should happen if you click on update.
Who needs saved games... we'll all be playing the beta non-stop anyway.
That is just a sideeffect of the fact that in the last century the time between inventions and technological breakthroughs has become shorter and shorter. Personally I wouldn't dare make a prediction further than 2025, and even that can be daring. While we're on the subject of shorter and shorter time periods... Are we there yet?
"When it's done."
Ok, so I can just 'switch chapters' to activate DA? If that's the case, wonderful!
Well, for the last few patches, you COULD continue your old games. And the _beta_ patches (save a few that were bugged) actually WERE metaverse compatible. So this is by no means as easy a question as you think.
Yes, I know the beta isn't out yet. However, maybe someone can give me a heads-up on this matter. Will the beta be MV compatible? I'm in the middle of a MVL game, and I need to know if I have to finish that first, or if I can update to TA and then submit. (For that matter, since this is kinda an open beta, will it be ok to post AARs from the beta?)
If they really release it at the end of the day, I will have to stay up long, cause I live in Austria (where it's already 10:20am). But the beta is more than worthy a day without sleep. I'm glad I don't have to go to school today and tomorrow.
Yeah, Germany here. The same 6 hours difference, only I have to work tomorrow. Thank god Thursday is a holiday.
It's 8 AM, are we there yet?
What say you pndrev, got a character spare to join our Tyranny of Evil....help us climb even higher up the rankings?
Of course. I even expect to get a few games in during the next few weeks.
4. at least works as intended and has always been this way. You can also name enemy fleets. While the Korath may not like it, it's what YOU call their planet or fleet.
Strange. No problem with Firefox here at all. (FF 2.0.0.8)
Now, I admit fully that I'm no expert in the mechanics of GC2. However, the way I understood sliders and production, setting military to 100 (or close) and then building a social project / no military on a planet should give me some kind of production. Example. A planet has 30 mp, with only social building in the queue. I expected that the surplus military production gets used for social buildings. However, there is ZERO production transfered from military to social. The same t
And here's yet another vote for removing the civ cap. It only makes sense on small or maybe medium galaxies, larger than that, there should be enough space for even 14 or 15 civs to expand a bit before being forced to go to war.
Have a look at your Dark Avatar directory under 'My Games'. Any modified races (both player and AI) should be saved there, as .xml files. Those are also the files you need to edit if you want to change descriptions, names, etc. outside of the game.
No. That would require changes to the GUI and the actual code. While the editors that are coming with Twilight look impressive, the core of the game is still in the hands of Stardock (where it belongs).
Can't wait to get my hands on the beta!
Just pre-ordered this one. Too bad the store still doesn't accept anything but credit card, it's quite a hassle to get someone to pay for me. If GalCiv wasn't such a good game, I wouldn't even bother.
Just checking in. I'm all set for round 4 and ready to launch my fleets at a moments notice.
While having a slider to control the max number of stars would of course be preferable, I'm not sure it is wise. As far as I understand it (feel free to correct me), scoring depends to some degree on the number of planets available (population, economy, research...). So given the same galaxy size (gigantic for example), players with better computers, able to handle more stars would be able to achieve higher MV scores just because of their better hardware.
