I like your idea Dystopic, but I think the logistics of doing it would be too problematic. Getting all the captains together at once considering rl committments and different time-zone might make that prohibitively difficult.
Sounds sort of like fantasy baseball/football/etc. leagues. This would be kind of a cool way to do it although I'm not sure this league is all that well scouted to support a rational basis for player valuations. Also I'm not so sure we want to "value" playe
We wont have to deal with the Kzinti to get a third place medal. By the time we can get up there and compete with the HCH and the Orcas...the Kzinti will be in 2nd place going after the Diplo's.
So true Neilo...we are unsurprised to see that you have finally accepted the natural dominance of the Kzinti. ;) We wish our brothers in evil much evil luck! <img src="http://www.mypicshare.com/thumbs/

We have a number of new members from over the last few days. A hearty welcome to Icarus Rising, Seleucis, Aussi Renegade, Der-Schlager, Kirg, Koza, Rynn Vo Wess, EmperorA, and Soltra Pax!! :D We're above 6.5 million points now and climbing fast. Many heroic Kzinti warlords have achieved victories in the last week, and the power of the Empire grows ever more potent. Congratulations and thanks to everyone who has honored the Empire with their numerous recent conquests! :CONGRAT: <br/

Many people have noticed the scores of this Spacetimer, and the unanimous consensus seems to be that he is cheating in some way....so I and everyone else that I have talked to about it have chosen to disregard him and the Auri. Check the Tryanny of Evil thread for some of the discussion about it. Mumblefratz, who is the best person at getting megascores that I know, said there was no way someone could get 2 million points on a small map. The best I am aware of is 1 million on a gigantic all a

Thanks Neilo. Wish the round could start a few days later though...maybe I can get in a quick game before I leave today. ;) Sentient species taste better...

Great idea Ghostwes! This should definitely be incorprated into future round settings. Neilo, your new avatar doesnt look evil, just pissed-off. ;) Sentient species taste better...

I like to develop my infrastructure a bit before I go out conquering, so that is the part of my game where I need to speed things up if I want to go for megascores. And I need more RAM! :) I'm off to a sci-fi/fantasy convention until Monday so I'll be busy playing games, watching movies, and partying for the next few days. :HOT: <img src="http://www.mypicshare.com/thumbs/20070803/vqrpalpt.jpg" border="0" alt

I have spoken to Noctilucus over PMs a couple times in the past few days, and he is not sure if he can play in the coming round. Yes, I confirm that I am fine with going with the teams as is for the next round. Sentient species taste better...

That is one thing I could definitely improve at...speed is not my forte. I do think in the previous huge game I played I started with an amazingly good strategic postion and expanded extremely quickly. I was able to grab a very large number of planets in the initial colony rush.

I think a 6 month tenure is good, when taking into account the average longevity of the GalCiv player, or any game in general. I'm for holding elections, but this is not to be taken as a reflection of my opinion of the current leadership, which I think has been great. I do like the idea of a democratic process though. I was actually joking about electing the Scorekeeper and Rulekeeper. ;) <img src="http://

I hope the round starts after this weekend....I'm away for a 4 day sci-fi/fantasy convention in Boston. :D I am geekier than thou... ;) Sentient species taste better...

Also, what about the other league positions? If there are elections, would those positions be included as well? Would anybody be insane enough not to vote for Mumble as Rule-keeper? ;) Sentient species taste better...

I think having the administration of the league be spread among the various teams is a good idea. But this brings up the potential problem that the teams get shuffled every three rounds, so neither commish or vice-commish would potentially be a "permanent" position, because the team membership is always shifting and they might end up on the same team. Maybe that means an election every three rounds? Might be too much of a hassle. I like option number three for selecting which game to
I would have to agree that 2 million on a 2 year small game is somewhat incredulous. AFAIK the best ever score in any previous game is my 957K DL v1.4x game which was an 8 year gigantic galaxy where I had 95% of the galaxy conquered and all of the abundant galaxy resources fully mined prior to the end of reported year 1. In this game I had over 25,000 ships under a fully populated 24 military SB array and 16,000 of them had been upgraded to full BHE missile boat status whic

Random choice from among the "good" games (as described by Mumble), is an excellent compromise. I'd vote yes for that. Sentient species taste better...

I saw Spacetimer's scores too and my first thought was that he most likely cheated in some way. 2 million on a small map seems totally improbable. Stardock is aware and may be looking into it. Maybe Mumble or someone who gets megascores will chime in and shed some light on the possibility of such a score. </

Bi-lal kaifa, Vukasika. :) We will make many sacrifices to the Fanged God to ensure that very few Kzinti are put into to the death-stills! My huge game netted 132k, not the 150 I was hoping for. I'm not sure what I did differently from the previous game with the same settings that was 150k. Have to look into the mechanics of the scoring a bit more. <img src="http://www.mypicshare.com/thumbs/20070803/vqrpalpt
We're not even talking about the case where a player has posted a single game to the MV but simply neglected to submit the game to the league. The only case anyone has a choice is when the player has posted at least two games to the MV and none to the league. How can this ever legitimately happen? Are people suddenly transferred to Antartica in the middle of the night and don't get the chance to take literally the two minutes it takes to submit a game to the league after having alrea
But this time after reading the post again with fresh eyes, i still believe that the post was made out of sour grapes and that there was indeed a sense of resentment in the intent.
Let him be sour and resentful then if thats what he needs to do right now. Let it slide off you like water from a duck's back. That doesn't change the fact that Team E did a great job, and won the round. :) <a href="http://www.mypicshare.com/vqrpalptpic.html" target="_blank
