Replacing a motherboard, processor, and video card without reinstalling windows will usually cause it to go apeshit.
Only if you do it wrong. I upgraded from an Athlon on an Nforce motherboard with a Radeon video card to an Intel quad on a P35 chipset board and Geforce video, Windows booted up fine, detected all the new hardware and asked for drivers. The trick is to uninstall all old drivers and devices first. People will uninstall video etc
I know the Jaggeds are supposed to get everyone's tech, but they had techs far beyond what anyone could possibly have had at that point. Their first ships were tiny hulls with 66 attack for crying out loud.
Possibly related -- I just had the Jagged Knife show up very early in the game and got a warning that they had Beyond Mortality.
Sounds like the Drath are up to their usual shenanigans.
I've got my quad in an old modded AT tower case. It used to be beige; I stripped the paint off and polished the steel panels to a mirror finish. The plastic has been vinyl-dyed blue and silver and the front bezel cut out and filled with aluminum mesh. At one point the CD drive faces were dyed to match but they've been replaced and I haven't bothered to do the new drive. The case sat for years but I resurrected it because my IFX heatsink wouldn't fit in any of my existing cases and I
I'm playing the Drath, I'm at war with 2 civs and have bribed pretty much everyone into fighting everyone else, and no one's surrendering.
I really like the idea of the Yor being able to build advanced C3-type super projects that approximate the effects of the meatbags' advanced governments.
I like the Drath. Sucks to be losing them due to a backstory that's basically irrelevant to me. I don't know how typical I am, but I've never cared for anything but sandbox mode in any TBS game I've played.
Is it possible to have a non-colony ship (that can't be upgraded to a colony ship) occupy the space of a planet and stay there orbiting the planet to keep a neighbor from colonizing the planet?
Yes, it's called a fighter. You shoot down the other guy's colony ships with it. Being able to just lay claim to planets without colonizing would pretty much break the game.
It could be okay if the implementation was really, really good, but otherwise I think a bunch of fictional religions would feel kind of tacked on. It works well enough in Civ4, but then again you've got a historical timeline and context for it to work in. And then you'd have the real-life religious types incensed that their religion wasn't representing Terra ;p Might make an interesting mod but not content I'd want to see dev resources spent on.
Here's an article about software raid in XP [link="http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=830&page=5"]WWW Link[/link] As you can see the size of your array will be limited to the size of the smallest partition you can allocate to it, so using assymetrical drives will leave you with un-RAIDed (but presumably still usable) space on the larger drive. The array will also be limited to the speed of the slower drive, so I wouldn't bother if the old drive is 5400 rpm and the new one is 720
Which OS? It doesn't seem to be common knowledge, but XP can do software RAID0. One thing to keep in mind is this: A RAID setup using the motherboard's onboard controller is not portable (unless maybe the new board uses the exact same controller). So if you change the motherboard, say goodbye to your RAID array. This may or may not be a big deal depending on how much data you have to back up and how much of a pain it would be to reformat your drives.
The best cable management scheme I've seen involved not using the connectors at all, but soldering the wires directly to the contacts on the back of the motherboard. Obviously not for the average person. :)
Reminds me of the time I thought my hard drive had died . . . I had accidentally disabled onboard IDE in the bios when I meant to disable onboard LAN X-(
Greetings, N-1 of Yor. Allow me to demonstrate the awesome lethality of . . . the Alan Parsons Project.
I think "Obliteration Pulse" is what you meant :)
In keeping with the general tone of GalCiv2, I propose Illudium Q-36 Space Modulator.
Yes, definitely. I have a sort of similar request. When I click "Find" the screen only centers on the ship if it's currently off-screen. If it's onscreen but not centered it does just highlights it, which isn't helpful since if I knew where the ship was I wouldn't be trying to freaking FIND it in the first place. Highlighting just isn't enough with a high res screen, zoomed out enough so there might be dozens of ships onscreen at once. So I either have to scroll away or zo
Sorry, I haven't been a Linux guy for years. I finally decided that I didn't really need it for anything and it wasn't worth the trouble. Which ironically enough is what Linux users generally think of Windows
Do you have sound with the black screen? After alt-tabbing I get a brief black screen with sound before the visuals come back. With my old system the wait was much longer. I think the kindest way to describe the Radeon Xpress 200 would be "antiquated", so that's almost certainly your problem.
One thing that I was dissapointed about with the Gigabyte P31 board, it doesn't provide access to memory timings.
[link="http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/gigabyte_gap31ds3l/5.htm"]Your journey is not yet complete, my son. [/link]
That's actually pretty typical for a C2D.
Core2 is the best thing to happen to overclockers since the Celeron A :D
If you think that's bad, Civilization 4 has a religion that's called Christianity! What are the odds? I bet it wasn't intentional though. Seriously though, Christianity wasn't any more unified at the start than it is now, so I suggest that what one splinter group may have called themselves a few millennia ago isn't the slightest bit relevant as anything but historical curiosity. Especially when "the way" is a pretty damn general term and only a translation from something else in Hebr
Bwahahaha, if you're used to seeing a 10F difference between idle and full load, prepare to be horrified. Coretemp is good for temp readings, some utilities are really innacurate with Core2s.
