Here is my attempted screenshot. Please note that I think it's much better looking on the monitor then in the screenshot. There are many skinned items that just won't show in one or two screenshots. I paid for one of the Dark Matter themes and it's really quite good! The window style is nice, with several variations for the theme that I purchased. The icons are beautiful, as is the widget that controls WMP (or itunes if you prefer). The site is set up nicely, really quite nice. The support forums are also set up nicely. No complaints from this consumer. :CONGRAT:
I just read that they were launching tonight.
It looks like the dock from Impulse....
Actually, I believe I read somewhere (may have even been in this long thread) that it would support XP initially, but also Vista within 3 months after initial release.
I installed the portable edition directly into a folder on my main drive. It works great and no compatibility prompts. Thanks for sharing the wisdom! Now to get surfing and see how it works for me.
I would like to try the beta, but don't want to uninstall FF 2. Can I do this?
Migrated on over from skinz.org - was very grateful that there was going to be a solid skinning site to go to.
Looking forward to some of the updates!
It used to be a decent magazine. Way too much advertising and not enough magazine left in my opinion.
I don't think I'll support a site that uses an email address like the one you suggest we upload skins to.
So - I just downloaded after completely deleting the one I downloaded yesterday evening. Still the same problems...
Ares by Mike Bryant. A great windowblind that can be used with many wallpapers.
I use firefox mainly because of the "skinable" factor. It works well for me. I also use the "IE Tab" plug-in which allows me to switch rendering engines in cases where the site would run better in IE.
I ran out and bought one of those magnavox word processors as soon as they came out.....
Still one of the slowest loading sites that I visit.....Using IE7 now.
My first computer experience was on an IBM 360 Model 20 Mainframe.........It had a card reader/puncher that often ate the punch cards and caused us to redo them. My first home computer was an IBM clone that ran a GUI called Gem (I think that was the name - my memory is starting to go with age........).
I have developed software for 36 years but first home computer I bought was a Vaio about 3 years ago. The early ones would not fit at home. The little ones did not do enough (anybody hear of Varian Mini-computers ). Work always bought me a laptop (or lugable or terminal) never needed one. The phrase that shows my age.<
I purchased Object Desktop some time ago - subscription is now expired but I had auto archived versions of windowblinds each time I updated via Stardock Central. I have two questions: 1) Am I permitted to install Windowblinds on a second (work) computer? 2) If so, how do I go about this? Do I install Stardock Central on the other machine and use the restore archive function on the archived WB file?
For me, the novelty of widgets, gadgets, objects wore off some time ago. I really don't have any use for them. I do like to use windowblinds, iconpackager, curserxp along with some great wallpapers.
Congrats to the winners and kudos to the folks that donated the subscriptions! I just renewed today - went one and a half months without a subscription - I almost forgot what ads were like on this site but was painfully reminded of them for that lapse period. Glad to be a subscriber again!
Forgive me if I sound like I'm brand new - I'm not. I just sometimes forget things.... I have been a subscriber of WC for a few years (I think 4) and have purchased many products here. I allowed my OD subscription to expire as well as my site subscription. Which will allow me to browse without all the ads? Thanks in advance. P.S. - I will end up renewing both OD and site subscription as usual, just probably not both at once.
Oh - I forgot to add that I generally don't complain....
Anyone ever notice that the ones who complain are the ones who don't make skins, don't write tutorials, etc.? I disagree with the above statement and throw my agreement into what starkers said. I generally do not create skins and have never written a tutorial. I do support the site via subscription(s), Object Desktop purchase(s), premium skins an
Great idea - I know I'll support it.
