First off... Since when have you helped out the ally AI when he asked for help? :) I for one don't. So why would they come to your aid? IMO, miens wouldn't be bad the way they are if not for the silly 'phased out' invulnerable thing and the bug which goes with it (rapidly switching between in and out). As far as the pirates go, was there a pirate base planet in the system you were in? If not, they will have nowhere to attack from, ect, and thus will not even exist.

Ya, i also noticed this problem while playing today (first day)... Really quite annoying. The only way I found is to find a squadron, and repeatedly right click on the mine with the squadron selected, and eventually you will have killed the mine... 1 down, an average of about 30 to go...
Well, it used to be they were able to send about 20 of them in and be able to take out a planet, or at least all it's civilians, and retreat before they could be destroyed. It would take a medium sized fleet devoted to defending each planet from such AI seige rushes.
Yep, Dread Lords is what you will wanna get first. Just don't try setting all the AI to Suicidal difficulty level... it hurts...
Make it a Dyson Sphere map.... Of, if it were globe shaped, an interesting idea would be a planet which doesn't rotate. This would leave the side facing the sun always an extremely hot desert with little to no water where it is day all the time, and the side facing away from the sun would be an extremely cold, icy region which would always be dark. And then there would be the circular ring around the planet where it is always somewhat of a twilight, where it would be habitable. Hehe,
I wonder what font size this is... Edit: aw man... cant use different font sizes on the forums... Thats one more thing to add to that list of about 33 things we can't do but I wish we could...
I might be misunderstanding you, but it seems to evaluate to 0/0. (2x 4 -30x 3 +104x 2 +120x-448)/(x 3 -13x 2 +26x+112) (2*4096-30*512+104*64+120*8-448)/(512-13*64+26*8+112) (8192-15360+6656+960-448)/(512-832+208+112) (-7168+7168)/(-320+320) 0/0 PS: lim x->8 (2x 2 -18x+16)/(x-8)

Heres an interesting article about sea levels rising as it pertains to our water supply. http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?id=could-the-oceans-rise-enough It basicly says as the sea levels continue to rise, many coastal regions will have to deal with the big problem of salt water contaminating their groundwater.
Space has no sound. The articles are misleading in that they say there is. They are really talking about radio waves, which are electromagnetic radiation, not sound waves. Sure, we can convert it into audio with our devices, but it is essentially light and not sound.
So is the One Ring (and other rings of power) magic or technology? What about magic swords and armour and all sorts of items scattered all throughout the fantasy genre? If you want my opinion, I'd call them a combination of magic and technology (unless of course the item or device were created solely by magic - in which case it's just magic). I'd say the rings of power are examples of such a combination - Sauron crafted them using a comb
In a closed setting you also have to be careful to give your magic a cost. If you don't then magic is essentially free. People would have nothing to stop them from solving every problem with magic. Conversly you have no good reason to stop them from using magic when it would do a lot of good.
That assumes it is very broad magic. Books like Harry Potter have this sort of magic with a huge range of effects, probably infinite rang
Just imagine what cavemen would think if you gave them a box of matches. he probebly wouldn't think much of them at all, since he wouldn't bother to try to strike them on the funny side of the box. The point is, the major difference between technology and magic is that magic cannot be fully understood, ot
http://xkcd.com/528/ Hehehe...
The way I see it, magic is no different than any other physical law, but one which is both not fully understood (usually) and requires a life form to make use of, and thus cannot be effectively used by technology (since non-living material cannot make use of it). For example, midichlorians in Star Wars which enable use of the force. They exist only in living material, and it is not fully understood how it works (which is shown by the lack of technology emulating use of the force).
There appears to be some misunderstanding on how carbon capture is intended to function. The CO2 is not stored as a gas in caverns or containers but is injected directly into a mineral formation which it will chemically bond with. Wikipedia has a good article on this at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_capture_and_storage in particular the sections on gelological storage and mineral storage describe this process.
Why are they only giving recommended and minimum? Because they don't know the maximum yet. Look out for console ports when it comes to specs. Most of them have coding which is about as efficient as the government. The other problem with console games is they are not designed to be flexible. They are meant for static peices of technology from 3 years ago. Minimum can mean alot of things to alot of people. Gamers mostly assume it means 'playable' but the company could take it as 'progra
Dont forget the Novint Falcon... If I had some spare money I would get me one of them... Then there is the OCZ neural impulse actuator :) I would buy that just for the awesome factor alone. Playing Star Wars BF2 and using the force with my mind is just an awesome thought...
Its cheap. I got my copy of dread lords (havent got the other xpacs) for I think $20, and that was about a year ago. So, even if you don't like it and only play through one gigantic sized map for 20 hours, and you will have gotten more hours for your money than many games now a days [e digicons][/e] And I can gaurrentee you will enjoy it if you like both Civ and Sins...
Meh, I think I'll stick with my desktop. How expensive are those though?
The planet may have 70% of the surface covered by water, but it is in no way 70% water. Of the water on the planet, 97.2% is in the oceans, salty and undrinkable. 1.8% is in glaciers (also likely to be somewhat salty) and is also undrinkable. This leaves only 1% as groundwater, fresh water, and water vapor. Of that, I would guess 25% is impractical to retreive, and another 25-50% has to be left where it is or the environment around it collapses completely. This leaves between .5% and .25% of

ya... the only link between warcraft and starcraft is the names (both end with 'arcraft') and they are both made by blizzard...
