name? like echo or charlie? Nah i'm still waiting patiently for naming planets. "shibfilet" is a wonderful name for an ice planet.

WOW last time i checked this post was at 72 and dead on September 4. I should get back into posting.... Look, gravity actually being applied in Sins.... no. Its disgusting. Having to constantly reposition your ships and keep them from crashing into the planet? No thanks. Once im in the mid-late part of the game I usually just send a big ol' fleet to a system and leave them fighting. I have too many things to worry about than to watch a battle and babysit every ship that strays too close
Has anyone played Startopia? Its probably the most addicting space game i've ever played. Its based in those circular space stations you see in cheesy space movies. You know, the one that looks like a donut and it spins? Well, they took that factor and made it so you build your own space station. You can trade, grow produce, or even fight for control of the space station. It gives you tons of freedoms and even the campaign is fun after all the playing. And homeworld 2 has the most diffi
Thats wierd I go to the mainpage than the forum list.... I aint THAT frequent as a poster
lol oooh I always just type sins and go down to the main page (just in case we get an update). But can you tell us how many pre-payers there are?
lol its true I got to the third book and when I heard of restaurant calculations I was like "f*** it, i'm gonna play Sins."
I was on board with galciv 2 immediatly and to see it get so much sales in such limited stores made me feel pretty good . But I was wondering how succsesful Sins is going to be? I mean, the poll on the main page has only 35 people posting in it... but then again theres been thousands of posts and replies going on at a rapid pace. And with all the adds going in IGN and magazines maybe it will be succsesful
Umm the closest thing to a walking talking AI today is that big white dancing robot in Japan. I mean hes adorable, but, can those jazz hands really decimate the entire human race? If so.... kudos The only thing that can really f*** us sideways from technology is some mega computer virus shutting down all internet and computers, EMP waves do permanent damage and whipe out all electricity (now THAT would send us into complete chaos), nuclear armageddon (rare but slightly possible), or Mon
Hahah you said "quest".
Strateggi, reifneries only work if your mining structure is depleted. Or at least thats what happens when I play.... Yeah that happens sometimes iron, but think of it differently: Maybe their luring your fleet TO them and then once you start the chase they have their MAIN main force chillin 1 jump away. Your fleet gets decimated and high fives are exchanged from AI to AI
Way to bring up Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy Ron. That series gets progressivly gets worse as you read each book but it starts ok.
lol oh i c now. Ninja someone will always complain about something. And that someone will be me
Yeah thats all the things i encountered. The mouse scrolling bothers the crap out of me, though. It needs to be fixed. Your right on the crystal thing. I'm trying to build tons of trade ports so i can buy crystals. Right now its about the beginning with 5 planets and Im defending with 1 capitol and 3 light frigates because I can't afford my kodiak cruiser I seem to be ok though, I'm getting good
lol i don't know im still trying out the new patch for beta 2. Its kind of difficult to begin... and I don't exactly understand the whole "explore planet" thing. And the zoom function got screwed up because when you zoom in it goes to your curser, whitch bothers me. I used to double click on a planet and scroll in from there but its gotten difficult.
Don't get mad or anything devs but from a semi reliable source I'm pretty sure that beta 3 comes out near the 2nd week of september. So that gives us testers about 15 days to prepare.... That dosen't seem like enough
Yeah I was thinking like that. EMP wouldn't be possible.... but then again it is space. You could find an ultra magnetic asteroid getting doused in gamma radiation floating around and launch an EMP strike when it gets near an enemy planet... POP GOES THE WEASEL!!!!
WOOT that makes it so much better. Although I prefer 40 planets and 1 star (makes it more border-ish than regions making the game feel cooler ).
Yeah but how do you meet those needs? orbital structures giving your people trade goods and commodities? That would just be another version of broadcast centers! And if you expand on ground structures that'd be lame. Remember, they aren't REALLY part of your government. You just have a planetary control over them. They aren't legitamite citizens. They just are being governed by you.
Oh, yeah your right. I'm no scientist, and I wouldn't have any idea so don't yell at me, but wouldn't EMP be useless in space? the photoelectrons that go off from the bomb are usually altered in effectivness and distance by gamma rays in the atmosphere here on Earth but, since we are in space EMP distance would either be dramaticly reduced or increased in a big way due to the tons gamma radiation hovering in space. And Ron, don't you also mean kinetic energy, not just heat for
paradoxnt, you mean solar system to solar system, right? cuz if you meant planet to planet.... I would cry
lol don't worry barron the new beta will be fixed like Ron said. But sounds like you have a glitch on your hands. You don't need to destroy everything (or even anything). In my early battles I hit the military structures and the planet first, then colonize and pick off the logistic structures. Enemy ships wouldn't affect it either.
They make shields weaker because its fast at recharging and is just a nifty wall between you and a piercing laser/huge missle/ pulsing plasma shot. You don't rely on shields. You rely on thick armor plating. It sounds cooler anyways to shout "shields are down- but were still in the fight" than to say "shields our down! Were gonna get F**ked sideways!!!"
Oh c'mon if you are consious about where your ships and ship factories are then you wouldnt have to worry about waiting for your fleet to cross stretches of your solar system. I've played 5 solar systems with 10 planets each and played 1 solar system with 40 planets, so I know if it takes a long time. I just have my fleet always near the enemy border and keep my flanks protected so I don't have to fall back to protect something. The BEST part of this game is I can have a 4 hour session,
woh mjl lets calm down. HOW THE HELL do you rate how well your economy is doing? The only plausible idea is to compare it to other empires but once you conquer a galaxy or 2 you will be such a landslide overpower to everyone else (assuming the enemy are computers which are the majority of your opponents. Like in skirmishes or campaigns.) that you will have instant loyalty. And difficult loyalty makes the game fun. Instead of just building more and more trade ports and refinery's you get
yeah, the planet probably was surrounded by enemy culture. You can tell culture rates by the color of the lines connecting gravity well to gravity well (i call them jump lines). If the enemy is pink and the jump lines all around the planet is pink, then it'll either jump to the enemies team (but the structures are still yours) or if they conquer it it'll be difficult to recapture the planet (it'll just flip back when you attempt to colonize). Taking planets rich with culture is easy if
