Brad said: "The alexians, incidentally, don't colonize worlds outside their home sector so I wouldn't worry too much." The Alexians exhibited several strange attributes: 1. The outproduced every other race in the game even though they only had one colony. 2. Even though there were only two habitable systems in their sector they had six colony ships in orbit around their planet. 3. How were they able to get far enough along on the tech tree, at the speed they

I had no problem with the 0.9028 release downloaded from the DGM. It ran without incident. Initial comments on Beta 5: 1. It seemed like every time I turned around another of the AI races was surrendering to the Drengin. 2. The Alexians, with one colony were managing to outproduce every other race in the game. They build two galactic wonders in a _very_ short time period. 3. I like the new nuances that have been added in the area of diplomacy.

Hit the send button too quickly. Have you tried saving and reloading the game to see whether that will restore autopilot functionality? If it doesn't I suggest sending the saved game to Stardock with an explanation.

Cari, What happens to me is that the ship will still be marked as autopilot and just not move. If the ship is one of a group, not a fleet, that has stalled the act of taking one ship in the group off autopilot and redesignating the destination seems to break something loose and all the ships will then start moving again.

Where would you have to set your spending slider to achieve a positive cash flow under the scenario you describe above? I wonder whether the game is correctly transferring the maintenance costs for the ships you are selling? I've run into similar monetary issues once or twice, I didn't have a large number of ships but sometimes after restoring from a saved game my economy would tank and I'd have to move the spending slider down to less than 15% before my cash flow became positi

It's been reported here and there, in many different threads. I've had it come into being for both ships and constructors, most often when I have a large number of ships that I'm trying to get to the same destination.

Steevodeevo, I like the idea of an abstension but to _really_ work we should also have the ability for a race to propose UP issues for vote. Failing that, as Solitair said, knowing in advance what was coming up for a vote would greatly increase the utility of influence trading.

A mechanism to move people between planets in the same star system, with the need for a colony ship, was discussed a while back. I seem to remember a comment from Brad that it would be on "the list" as a post 1.0 addition.

I agree that sometimes the end-game becomes simply a matter of grinding your way through to the conclusion and I'm not coming up with any blinding insights on how to make the situation better. But. I really, really hate the concept of massive game altering "random" events that are designed solely to smack the player because they are too strong. There has to be another way. Better AI design is a part of this better way but it's not the only component. P.S. The Dreadl

[regarding a starbase] "I couldn't see it beneath the 25 (twenty-five) constructors that were sitting on it." I've seen this happen when a large number of constructors are sent to the destination point on autopilot and one of the "magic" changes happens to the destination that hoses the autopilots ability to recognize that the endpoint has been reached and that it's now time to do something.
