Steam is shit, you can't even use it when set to the DMZ. To update a game, you have to turn the auto-update on, no manual. What the fuck? Then, having connected, it downloads a bunch of shit advertisements and product info that I never look at and can't turn off to save time. For someone on a limited satellite connection like me, the thing is severely counter productive. It's a clunky irritant with lousy option, the drawbacks severely outweigh the bonuses. I'm not saying it d

Either you can't tell that was sarcasm, which is odd considering the context of the post as a whole, or I need to read your post a few more times to try and figure out what you were trying to say, since it seems to have been in agreement with me.

Ignorance will doom society. There's a reason they say CO2 is at the highest level in the last 650,000 years. They can't get away with saying anything more relevant. If you go further back, the current levels, and the worst possible predictions even the fucking nut jobs have given, are minuscule. The true historic values of CO2 are a magnitude higher. Another amusing point is that the last 650,000 years are striking in that they form a regular pattern of frequent ice

[quote]The way I view mp is that its not suppose to just be about fun which people complain it can lack. Like being competitive in sports where you are good at the game , your not actually looking to have "fun" in the blissful way , your looking to test the limits of your physical and mental abilities. Its only human nature to want to discover yourself , improve your attributes , learn new things and be victorious in any way no matter how trivial . It seems theres a misunderstanding that humans

I find a single star huge to be harder than multi-star huge. If you really want epic, you need to make your own map. The 100ish planets around a single star isn't very realistic, but 10 around a single star is pretty easy to wipe out and consolidate. If you bump it up to around 20 a star, you can get some very entertaining wars going. The small systems are just too easy to squish with a single fleet. Also, if you're looking for a real blood bath on both sides, avoid playing as adven

It's just another misguided attempt to do the impossible. People try to prevent all kinds of things from happening, they can't think logically and avoid wasting the effort. It's not really impossible either, just statistically improbable to the point where it might as well be impossible. They're sure that if they can just stop it, games will sell more copies. They've already been shown to be wrong in their estimations at every level, but there are countless self destructive practices and phi

I think it's because certain developing houses have started releasing their games on consoles first, or only. Irrational fear of impending doom when minor details in an environment are changing. It's not exactly reserved to the PC gamer crowd, we're all going to die because the oceans might rise a whopping two meters in the next century.

Having won a Lego contest, I'm qualified to say that it does not look like it was made out of Lego's. :) Aside from the dark atmospheric qualities of the screen shots you posted, I'd have figured it was final. Piper, anal-retentive. Look it up. You seriously need to take a chill pill, when you go nurse Ratchet on other peoples work it's just going to hurt your own mod in the popularity department. If you have constructive criticism, it needs to be given politely, and without grotesq

"I'm not aware of any current state laws that do this. On the federal Level, some of the Anti-terrorism laws might do this, but I'm usure of thier application to loacal Criminal Gangs. In either case, using the "Back in the Day" arguement doesn't really work. Would you mind showing us the current law that makes Criminal Gang membership illegal by sole virtue of claimed affiliation? I'm really interested to see if one exists." You want me to prove the existence of what I've told you no l

The differences in technology between the two generations are vast, but you don't keep a ship in service for a century unless you're constantly repairing and upgrading it. The excelsior class vessels used in DS9 are not the same thing as the excelsior class vessel that debuted in ST3. The Lakota refits that were in the dominion war are supposed to be using weaponry and shielding technology comparable to the defiant and sovereign class ships.

Went to play CS at a college LAN function, decided to check out Starcraft for the first time. The assholes decided to rig a game and put me on the opposing team because they didn't like the other assholes they were playing. Not that they weren't already using a map hack. So I join the enemy team, what the hell, it would be a learning experience. Five seconds in one of the guys is telling us who's what and where, fucking cheaters are everywhere. Being a good sport I thwarted the rush, they l

The only thing that explains your continued harping on the statistics change from UCR to NIBRS is a total ignorance on the results. You can find them at the justice department, on wikipedia, and numerous other sites. Look at them and stop wasting time. Arguing against the rise in crime will be more useful if you actually know when the rise is. Brandenburg v Ohio was used to strike down criminal syndicalism statutes. Recite the case all you want. Higher penalties for crimes associat

"Again, the UCR and NIBRS are fundamentally incompatible. In 1960, if someone drove up to you, pulled out a gun said they were gonna kill you, shot at you, missed, and ran off, no crime would have been committed statistically. Today, it would have (2 possibly). Now say the suspect shot you and hit. In 1960 that would be 1 crime statistially. Today, I can think of atleast 3 right off the bat. Same action, triple the crime rate. Omnibus and GCA didn't even exist until 1968, neither did DV

Denyasis, perhaps your problem is reading and writing what you're supposed to? You said "As a civillian, If you kill anyone, for any reason, you've murdered them." That's not even close to "As a civillian, If you kill anyone, for any reason, it's investigated as a homicide." Which would have been reasonable, irrelevant, but reasonable. Then, I told you why plea deals were wrong. You apparently agree with me almost entirely but think that few percent that will get awa

HDMI TV's are a bad joke right now. The signals being sent to them are insufficient to actually use the bandwidth capability of HDMI 1.3, and 1.0 was about half the speed of a DVI link. If the consoles stop using 30 fps refresh rates, you'll begin to have a reason for the HDMI link on a 1920x1080, non-interlaced screen. The DVI link can handle it at 60Hz just fine. The only current benefit from HDMI over DVI is that it includes the 8 channel sound instead of needing audio plugs as well.

While true, not true. Crime statistics are kept on individual crimes. While a very larger percentage of the prison population is in there on drug offenses, violent crime is three times higher than it was fifty years ago. There are theories that the war on drugs is responsible for an increase in general violence as well, but it's entirely unproven. Dirt bags dealing drugs would probably still be dirt bags without that particular job opportunity, and the crime rate was higher before he started

Yeah... What can I say, every now and then someone spaces out and doesn't immediately grasp how to use the system. I found it very easy, and future purchases through Stardock are even easier. If you tried setting yourself up on steam, you'd find a much larger hassle from them. It's one of the simplest and most user friendly digital distribution systems for games.

I'm guessing that you're either a lawyer or one in training? If so, you should know that a homicide investigation is not a murder investigation. Calling people murderers while the homicide is investigated is entirely inaccurate and would get a prosecutor in deep shit before long. Homicide investigations come with natural, accidental, and suicide along with self defense killings, none of them are murder. If you don't know the difference, then I guess you're not insane with a belief like that.
