Ugh... Do not trust the EAW has better graphics comments... I was just playing the zerox 3.5 add-on mod for forces of corruption last night. I had a star wars itch, damned inconvenient. They are vastly inferior, there is zero comparison graphically between the two games. Up against Sins, EAW is severely dated. It's more in line with the first homeworld, and from an efficiency perspectively, vastly inferior to that as well. It's a clunky bastard of an engine unfortunately.
My my, you really ARE extremely ignorant about evolution, aren't you?Evolutionists have never stated that humans evolved from monkeys, apes, chimpanzees, or any other kind of modern primate. What they assert is that based on the evidence available, humans and other primates share a common ancestor, neither monkey, nor human, nor chimpanzee, but similar them, if somewhat simpler than them. And if we evolved from monkeys, then why are there still monkeys around.
Wrong, my you

I never finished the terran campaign in starcrap either. :) It's a terrible game people, sorry. The graphics were as bad as red alerts were, which were just cnc's repackaged. The UI was even more archaic and irritating than previous games. A small scale tactical UI for a large scale strategy game, retarded. It would have made more sense for a party based rpg than an rts. The resource system was only chalked up as some huge advance just because Westwood was still stuck on one, the g

Build more frigate factories. Lots more. If your map is large enough for someone to get that many phase gates out, it's large enough for you to be producing out of several factories. You may not be able to outproduce free units, but you sure as hell can outfight them. There obviously aren't very many defensive structures in a phase gate strategy. Scout kill them and walk all over the poorly balanced fleet with limited defensive help. TEC and advent both have the awesome cheese power of sui

Rapidly expanding thread, if I keep reading I'll die of old age before I finish I think. Dog breeding. Chihuahua, great dane, black lab, husky, they're all dogs. How did we get them? By eliminating vast portions of genetic material through selective breeding. Have we created a new species then? Is a chihuahua no longer a dog? no. Tito can fuck scooby's sister and make babies just fine. They will also be dogs. Selective breeding can explain everything I've seen put forth as eviden

If you're TEC, two high level dunovs should be enough to keep a set of eight capital ships around as long as you warp in a kol first. If they are 6+, it's a breeze. Two flux field capable dunovs can almost perpetually replenish sheilds, that first kol will never lose them even if it's not level 6 itself. If you're Advent, animosity is your friend. Get them targeting a nice damage returning capital ship and you'll do just fine. It's a little less effective with just capital ships tho

Galciv2 is moo3 done right. Sins is more of an rts than an empire game, although if you've got the hardware, you can have one. I'm not sure how much of an upgrade you'll need, but when you get in the 100 planet range, you can really stall out and end up in a brutal slugfest with the ai to continue your conquest. It's severely limited in terms of infrastructure and technology improvements compared to galciv2 though, very combat oriented.

Somehow I doubt there are many 1600x1200 or comparable wide screen resolution tv's hooked up to console with keyboards and mice out there that would make what I can do on the internet comparable to what someone with an xbox is doing on the internet... It's the rock solid picture, crystal clear clarity, ample real estate, and excellent functionality of a good pc system that lets me waste time reading text without going blind or crazy. Where consoles excel? Four geeks playing a

Generally speaking, I hate subscriptions. I've subscribed to a couple mmo's because I was going to play with someone else I knew, but I wouldn't have done them for just myself. If I want something and can afford it, I'll buy it, but I wont be signing up for a subscription based content update to sins. As long as they don't suck, you can probably get me to purchase sins expansions for a few years. If you're constantly evolving the game into something bigger and better, I'll have quit playing

NCC 1701 was the designation for the federation flagship, not the particular model of the ship. A-Z are just replacement model indicators when the old flagship gets blown up/replaced, other ships of the same design would have a different number. They actually ran into quite a few sister ships in the various series, there are really quite a few of them around. This [link="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitution_class_starship"]Link[/link] has a list of the actual ships shown in TOS

Ok, why this or that RTS game isn't a 4X. Exploring. In Warcraft, this amounts to lifting the fog of war, seconds of the game. You have to be aware of incoming attacks, but that's not exploration, just scouting. A recon screen in front of your combat lines is hardly cause for saying you continue exploring throughout the game. This holds true for most of the other RTS games people have mentioned. Scouting plays a dominant role in keeping tabs on your opponent, exploring is a trivial

Much bullshit, very smelly thread. Isn't a real 4x, and isn't galciv2 complexity aren't exactly the same thing. Master of Magic and the first civ game are founding games in the genre, both 4x, neither compare well in complexity despite having near identical shells. Neither are anywhere near as complex as Galciv2, which is far more complex than the first, and nowhere near as complex as something retardedly annoying, like MOO3. So it's not galciv2 complexity, it's more complex than the

Ok, first the suggestion, the issue has supplanted the AI being stupid as the thing pissing me off the most when I play single player. :) Some manner of seeing who likes who. Civ4 style chart showing colored lines between them indicating war status would be more than sufficient. If they cheat like a bitch and randomly ally with each other right off the start, I'll be able to tolerate it, but not knowing that all three of my neighbors are allies and having an alliance with one

30 repair cruisers work pretty damn good. I just lost a 30 minute battle as advent. Battle, not game, the game was a few hours, lost that too though. Advent shield cheese versus TEC repair cruisers. The AI could reinforce faster(unfair AI), and I wasn't able to wear the fleet down fast enough to get rid of it. Once I reached a threshold on disciples where I was no longer resupplying my antimatter reserves fast enough to sustain the shield restores and keep the guardians running, it was over

Well, it is. It still blows, but that doesn't negate reality. Building 400 light frigates and a couple capital ships nearly every game, never researching any abilities, and getting creamed even with 10-1 odds is a vastly inferior ai when compared to the still pathetic, but vastly superior ai we have now. It sucks, but it's still better than the previous even more sucky version.

29 Replies 49,552 Views

You don't like not fighting 400 disciples? I've only played one game and I already saw massive improvement, resource bonus aside. I was using a level 8 Sova has bomber suppression against an Advent ai and the little bastard ignored it until I clicked the insta build button to replace my then dead fighters. It got almost halfway through them before it was repeatedly disabled till the ability wore off. Is it a good tactical ai, obviously not, but the little shit is a hell of a lot better than

I've never been obsessed with winning, but I used to be good so I share views with both sides. Going thirty-zip on a CS server sucks. I wouldn't have that problem now even if I had a connection suited for it, finding a server that bad would take serious effort, but I still remember how much it sucked. I can understand frustration over playing a "retard", I left more than a few CS servers because I just couldn't in good conscience continue to butcher an entire team. I've nev

Stardock gives you a digital download, you should have ordered it from them, gotten it on day one via the almighty broadband, and hung your Australian release date you're lucky to even have at all. :) I'm surprised a place as small as Australia is getting it that soon really, 20 million people is peanuts compared to a European release, which isn't a much bigger geographical spot. A major company with their own outfit there doesn't have such problems, but lining up a dozen different pro

Kryo, the guy that makes the toaster oven probably thinks of his model as a work of art too, it's still a toaster oven. The patent offices being a bureaucratic mess aren't exactly a reason to disregard patents as the logical method for protecting software either. They are a reason for an armed revolt against the government for making it impossible to patent something though. A rigidly specific patent encompassing the entire engine would protect it against piracy just the same as a cop

Quite a bit of irrational arguing in this thread. The applicable definition for piracy: The unauthorized use of another's production, invention, or conception especially in infringement of a copyright. I just did an act of piracy myself, see any referencing for my definition? Poor Webster. Piracy is one of those ridiculously broad terms that covers anything and everything in a subject. Some piracy actually is equatable to theft, when you reproduce someones product an
