I looked back and my old Photobucket account still exists. Looks like the same trick will work, but with a change. To get a thumb you insert "th_" right before the name of the pic, like below. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v195/ZNWraith/testpic.jpg - direct image link http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v195/ZNWraith/th_testpic.jpg - direct thumb link The step-by-step of it is: 1 - Copy Direct Link from Photobucket 2 - Cli

Alrighty then, the report is done. Sorry if it's too much, I actually canned at least half a dozen screen shots. There's a bit more to consider this time around, which should make for some fun. A note about the trading issues: I know that every trade doesn't need a vote. I assume the Gnolams trade is a non-issue. It's simply connected to the Translator vote. The Yor trade is a pretty big exchange with an evil race, so I figured the council would want

My suggested structure is below: (Enter voting subject here): Positions: 1, 2, 1, 3 (Example positions) In my suggested structure 1 means for, 2 means against, and 3 means neutral or doesn't care.
So what'd you change Xeno Geology's type to? I'm running a test game and so far the Arceans haven't researched it. On the other hand, the Altarians have already researched Xeno Mysticism and are the only race I've met that have researched weapons. All in all it's still pretty early and I've only met three of nine opponents.
Well, I looked at Weather Control and saw that it was Colonization with AI valu

G'Norlisk: Duly noted, councilor. There appears to have been a glitch somewhere in the Tallybot's automated vote counting system. Our engineers should have that cleared up before the next session. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. </
I saw something last night that warmed my heart - the Arceans building Weather Control Zeniths and Space Cannons on all their planets. They even built the Cannons on approval bonus tiles when available. Have fun invading them, with their 50% planet defense bonus. Thanks to DeweyJohn's suggestion the Korx built the Mercenary Academy and researched Cut-Throat Competition, too. The jury is still out on the Iconians after heavy modification. This is pretty big for
How does the extreme planet option affect planet spawns? Like, does it take ones already determined by the habitable planets option and make a % of those extreme, or does it add a number based on left over non habitable planets?
My completely unscientific observation is that it seems to convert habitables to extremes. If you jack the extremes up to frequent, there should be noticeably fewer regular planets around to g
So I tested this and it's pretty much like you said. Interesting thing is, if you designate a homeworld as extreme, it will override the extreme tag, but still uses the extreme planet texture. I guess it sets the system up, then overrides the extreme tag when placing the homeworld. Not quite it, but at least you can get it to look right.
Wow. You weren't kidding about the Iconians, qrtxian. Ever wonder why the Iconians just never live up to their potential no matter which AI you give them? Could it be that their research is wrecked because their unique techs were assigned what appear to be random categories? Thanks for your work so far. I don't want to steal your thunder, but this is too good not to mention. Here we go: Interstellar Warfare: Missile?
I'm guessing that you have Impulse starting up every time you boot? Not a fan of that. If you don't want the ads and you don't want Impulse running in the background, go to Impulse and find the option to disable it as a start-up program. I'm not at home, so I can't find it for you until later. It should be pretty easy to find, though.

I wish I had more time to play with this stuff. It's a bit weird after all this time to come back and see how the custom tech trees are pretty much broken. I mean, we all knew Twilight was unfinished with respect to the new uniqueness of the races, but this just shows that it really never came anywhere close to what it was intended to be. Or maybe everybody knew that and I just came back around . . . Wait, I know. It's just very interesting to begin seeing a re
I actually just found this: https://forums.galciv2.com/170646 If you read the posts, it seems like it is possible to put an extreme planet (or several) in a race's home system. However, it apparently isn't possible to use one for a race's homeworld.
How do you come up with this stuff? Thanks for the link! Shame about the homeworlds, but this is good news overall. </p
You can get good at the game by reading more here and, of course, through experience. 29 planets is no small empire, so you should be able to turn that into a base to conquer the galaxy. Turn some worlds into economic giants with nothing but economic bonus buildings. Turn others into shipyards with nothing but factories and manufacturing bonus buildings. Fill a couple planets with labs. Now you should really be powerful. Decide how you want to win and go for it
Soooo . . . Been a while with no activity. I realize this is a bit of a nothing ballot, but does anyone else plan on voting? Are we having a case of holiday season slide? Almost half the council hasn't checked in for two weeks or longer. I realize we're in a bit of a slow period, game-wise, but I'd like to head off any decline before it turns into full blown abandonment. Anything we can do to keep it interesting? Are we stif
I'm guessing the answer to this one is no, but I'm asking anyway. Is it possible to mod custom star systems so that one or more of the planets has an extreme environment? I vaguely recall this was shot down once before, but it's been a while and I couldn't find the topic. Thanks!
I've played a few games as the Yor and as a custom race using the Yor tech tree. Lack of econ buildings is a perpetual complaint - and a valid one - but I like it overall. Let's see . . . First, I'm sure somebody will pop in to say "just trade someone for the econ techs", so let's get that out of the way. If you really want to become an economic juggernaut, there's nothing the Yor can do to beat a few planets full of Galactic Stock Exchanges. If you're a purist or ju
