The way I see it, the amendments and addenda would be discussed beforehand and included on the ballot in such a way that making comments isn't necessary. A vote should be yes or no based on the issue as listed on the ballot and not conditional to extra comments inserted into the ballot during a vote. It isn't practical for a couple reasons: - Say the third voter decides to tack on an amendment. Now the first two voters either don't get a say on the amend

- Fine by me if you join in -__-. I'll add you to the list of councilors. - Congratulations on your appointment to ballot-maker, qrtxian. Shall we call it Balloteer for short? It's an honor and a responsibility. If you're willing, I'd like to have the balloteer also be in charge of ensuring an accurate tally as the votes come in. Maybe you'd also be in charge of closing the election in the case that one or more councilors don't check in

Whoa there, Master123wr. No need to clutter up the forum with shouting. You made 3 posts in 5 minutes, it's simply not reasonable to expect replies so soon. Although we have a very active group of participants, this is still a forum and not a chat room. This topic should be reserved for primarily in-character discussion or game related out-of-character discussion. Let's not clutter it up with chatter. Thanks! PS -

Alright, quick update: - The homeworld thumb has been fixed. Thanks for the link, Noctilucus. - Nute Gunray? Yeah. Think of it as redeeming a character who was foolish and manipulated. I assure you he'll play a much more competent role in our story. He's actually the reason the Federation is comprised of minor races. While assembling the cabinet he was my first thought as trade minister. Then I needed a reason to

Well, this sure is getting lively. I do agree with qrtxian that the discussion can get quite ahead of the game if we aren't careful. Actually playing 12 turns isn't much right now - in fact, I went ahead and played the 1st 12 figuring it couldn't hurt - but in the future it could take me quite some time given the size of the game. Posting updates takes quite a bit of time itself, with screenshots and multiple characters and storytelling and all. I don't want to cur

Got things ready for the next update, but it's too late to make an actual post tonight. I'll just address peoples concerns for now. - Character portraits shrunk. At first I thought they may lose detail, but I like the smaller ones better. On a related note, as this is shaping up to be very pic intensive, I'm going to see what I can do about using thumbs for anything that won't show up nicely in the main forum anyway. - Crippling difficul

Welcome to The Kushana Initiative, a play-by-council game. As I play, I'll be posting regular reports and leaving the direction of the game up to those who have chosen to join the council. The planning topic for all discussion leading up to this game and continuing out-of-character discussion can be found here: Play by committee? (Kushana Initiative Planning and Discussion) Of particular interest is the post detailing the

Thanks all. Why Kushana Initiative? Dunno . . . it came to me as a possible name before the entire story formed in my head. I was working toward something different. Everyone has a federation or an alliance or a collective, so I thought "how about an initiative?" I worked it into the story and it stuck. Colors? Well, after finishing the story and everything else I didn't have a lot of time to play with them. I t

The Tolmekian Federation The Federation is comprised of several minor races which banded together to resist the growing influence and military might of their neighbors. The architects of the Federation, the Tolmekians, are an offshoot of humanity. Originally a colonial expedition, they suffered a systems failure when passing a wormhole during hyperspace travel. Out of control, they enter

[quote who="Elestan" reply="12" id="2786665"]Regarding #12 (transports with defenses): Quoting Tolmekian, reply 10 If it has sufficient defense, it could be impervious to damage from fighters with attack of 1 or 2. Battles will end after a set amount of rounds (55, I think, but don't take my word), so those transports would be able to slip past if you didn't have sufficient firepower. According to https://www.galciv.wikia.com/wiki/Ship_combat, if a battl

Fair enough. We don't need any kind of veto thing. I couldn't imagine shooting down a council decision anyway. I'm pretty happy to do as I'm told, more or less. My input comes down to exactly how things get done. I'm sold on the Arcean tech tree. It's pretty close to Terran, with some tweaks. I've only played Terran and Yor, so it'll be a nice change. Other than that, I'm getting ready to go. I got the minors set up, now i

Glad to have you, LordCarlos! I like RP a bit myself, and I'm certainly open to the idea. I'll be doing a lot of in-character stuff with my reports and all and the council can join in as they like. I think we're all on the same page for the most part. The council certainly has a say in strategy and everything else. My comments were directed at micromanaging, which we all agree is simply impractical. An update on what we've got: &nbs

Good stuff. I've just come back after some time off and it's nice to see things still going on. I'm up to chapter 5 and it's great. Now I'll have to go back and read the first two . . . [e digicons][/e]

Good response so far. I'd definitely like to give it some time and see who else checks in. In the meantime, maybe we could toss some ideas around. This being a first attempt, the details need to be sorted. I'll toss out what I'm imagining to get things going. Objective Fun. Interesting idea. I'm 3 years into a game with major-minors and things seem to be going well. Other than the minors, the game itself is pretty unremarkable, making it hard to do a write-up. I do have some experiences and observations that might help you, though. 1) Minors can, in fact, become pretty powerful. I gave all my minors some bonuses to make them competitive and reflect their descriptions. Of course, I also changed their descriptions from the d

Thanks qrtxian! I've always wanted to put together another write-up. If this one takes off I think the game play might be slower, so maybe I'll work in a side game and a more traditional AAR. NikolaiOmega - You'd be perfectly welcome to join if you like. I see this less about just coming up with the best strategy and more about taking the role of a guiding council - a galactic senate or circle of advisers. More what-should-we-do as opposed to how
