I am, in fact, preparing the next report. Tomorrow, with luck, but maybe Tuesday. This idea came to me after thinking about ways to adjust the ballot. Although I initially though voting on research would be too fiddly, I think it should work out nicely with this format.

G'Norlisk: As head of the Election Commission, it is my honor to present the council with a suggested format for voting on research proposals. This format would do away with voting on various plans by listing each technology on its own. The ballot would list only the proposed te

Well, I've contributed to the problem by presenting lots of options from the viewpoint of a few different characters. Since my characters don't always agree, it can get complicated. I like the idea of having me give a summary of the things to be voted on. Basically, I'll present the thing that need to be voted on so I can continue - not everything mentioned by a character needs a vote. Perhaps I would even draw up the first draft of the ballot. I gue

To address LordCarlos's concern about the ballot becoming too hectic: Many of these "micromanaging" issues being voted on are going to fall off the ballot as the game progresses. I have just been providing things to discuss while there isn't much to do. When we have 10 or 20 colonies, every improvement isn't going to come up for a vote. We'll just have to propose broader ballot issues, in general, with only a few specifics coming up. We should also

It's a toss up between the Nin Altarians and the Nanos for me. I like the nano story, but I'm already playing a game with Yor tech. Drengin on the other hand, never done. Choices, choices . . . Let's see what Carlos says, then I'll decide.

Recent news about this: https://forums.galciv2.com/398277 I realize I'm quite late to the game on this one, but there's one thing I've been thinking about that I don't recall being mentioned: It takes a HIGH level of espionage to look at another race's planets; however if I want to search for their Wonders and Trade Goods all I have to do is take an agent and open the "place agent screen" to see what

Cmdr Mekoides: To address Councilor LordCarlos's comments, I would say that I support shipbuilding at this time. Our research program seems to be far enough ahead that it could handle a temporary slowdown. Dr. Malar may disagree, but I think practical concerns outweigh the desire for discovery. We should keep in mind that any newly established colonies will contribute to our research efforts, mitigating

I was holding out until today to comment. Was thinking maybe people were burning out already. There's quite a bit of material to synthesize into a ballot this time around. Looking forward to a vote and another quarter to play. I'm getting anxious . . . And get better, qrtxian!

Can't say I've seen it, but I have a related point. If you don't want races to turn around and give all your techs away after you trade, you can select "Disable Tech Brokering". Edit to add: I guess it depends on the version you're playing. I only play Twilight 2.03, and I forget when that option was added.

One thing I noticed in my auto-plays was that the minor races never initiated any wars. The conditions weren't ideal, though - the game simply isn't designed to auto-play such large scenarios. I even gave one minor ridiculous bonuses to see what they'd do. They grew out of control and dominated the galaxy, but still never started any wars. I used hot-seat to have some other races attack them, and they prosecuted the war just fine until the end. I noticed that the
Speaking of approval, if I recall correctly, studies have shown that 76% approval is the threshold we'd like to be at, rather than 75%. The minor decrease in taxes to achieve 1 additional approval point in the polls would be quickly offset by an increase in population growth, for reasons previously explained. Sincerely, Councilor Noctilucus
Just a note to soothe your worries - I'm aware of the 76%

Well, learn a new thing everyday. I think I remember reading about modified colony ships, but I've never done it myself. It seems to make sense for our situation, though. Since all discussion was out of character, I thought it would work to have the Minister propose it. I already planned for him to propose his research plan and complain about the spending. Also, I'll be removing A Scherer from the list of councilors. Nothing pe
Also you should've made a introduction thread, cause if you start your AArs on this one it will be confusing as hell.
QFT. Perhaps you could rename this to a planning thread and create a new one when the game starts? I'll support you in this venture. I'm pretty busy with my game, so I may - or may not - play a minor role. Have a story for us? I'd actually like to try something alien, even though I

qrtxian, did you modify the minors in any other way? I gather you got the Super Abilities to work, but did you change the other ability bonuses? I'm keen to see how the minors turn out in The Kushana Initiative. Despite all the work I've done with them, it's my first game using modded minors. I did run several auto-play games to see what the AI did with them so I could tweak them just right.
