I love all of those suggestions! One of my own: Tile and List view for icons. I think that MS should have done this a long time ago, and would love to be able to do it with Fences.

After installing all my Stardock software on one of my computers, I noticed that the tray icons would move very slightly when clicked, making it looked like they were being pushed down. The effect has stopped recently and I'd like to get it back, as well as add it to my second desktop... but I have no idea what program added this effect. Anyone know?
I had this too, but it was on a test machine so figured it was just me. I fixed it by doing the following: Click Start, Run, run "services.msc" (without quotes) Find "Stardock Multiplicity" in the list and double-click the entry Change "Startup type" from Automatic to Manual, click Apply Change "Startup type" back to Automatic, click OK Reboot It then came up after reboot from then on. It just seemed to need to be reset for some reason. <a href="ht
The original 1.02 never disconnected on me either. It was a couple betas in that this started happening to me, and happened as soon as that version was installed (sorry, don't remember the exact version). Basically right after I finished the trial and bought Pro (although it happened on the standard version as well, it seemed to have more to do with the version number). The problem started creeping back in earlier today, but updated to the new beta (installing on the secondaries first) and it se
Long since disabled now. I had started using it after first experiencing these issues because in previous versions it would sometimes take several seconds to reconnect after these disconnections, and that feature helped a bit.
Updating my NIC driver (Marvell Yukon) worked for a few days, but then today I was working and Multiplicity was just gone.. it seemed to have just crashed without any error message or other indication of having done so. Later, after restarting it, I realized that it wasn't showing the status screen anymore, so I re-enabled that and also set "quick detection of disconnected secondary machines" and the problem immediatly came back. It happened a bit less when I disabled 'quick detection' again, bu
Unfortunately no such luck. Swapped out the cable and same thing. It's just like last time, though, where it was fine after format and about a month later... I have noticed that disabling Kaspersky's web scanner on the primary machine does show some improvment. My other systems run NOD32 and all use Prevx1.
Well it has started happening for me again. It's not as bad as it was, but every so often it will drop. It's just like before where it disconnects when the primary machine sends a TCP out, for whatever reason. I'm sure you, Neil, know what this is.. it happens every couple mins, but previously it was not causing a disconnect. This is still the newer SiS onboard, which has only a couple features in the driver. Note: I did update all machines to 1.05b(b).004, but the problem started
Have you tried ThinkSync? I'd have to say, though, that combining them into one program would be nice.
Yes indeed, all machines have been updated to 1.05a(b).003. BTW, since I tend to have ongoing issues, I'd be willing to take this to email or IM, if you prefer. I also have test machines, so would be more than happy to try out test builds and obtain more technical info for you (ie, logs from whatever tools you prefer). In the interest of productivity, I would, of course, keep it purely technical (in case there's any concern).
Well it's starting to happen again, although not with the same frequency. I added another laptop to the mix (making a total of 3 secondary machines) and it seems to be happening more since doing so. I have 2 systems to the left and one to the right, the newest being on the far left. What's happening the most now is that the first one on the left will get disconnected and I will have to unload Multiplicity and restart it to get control of that system again. As a side note, another
I don't see how it would be *counter* to what MP is, although I can see how some might not want all that functionality. I'm basically suggesting to enhance the current ability even more (be able to move windows across monitors, give more power-user options to the clipboard sharing, add "awareness" to the other Stardock apps), *not* turn it into a remote desktop app or anything. Most of it just involves utilizing resources that are already there in many
That's the reason that I would like to see Multiplicity detect the presence of keyboard/mouse and relinquish control when they keyboard and mouse are not present, but unfortunately I don't think there's a way to do what you're looking to do. I ended up just installing Synergy.
lol, not so much to ask, is it? [innocent look] When I get on a role it's hard to stop.. I'm sure I could come up with a dozen more
A few things I would really like to see in Multiplicity.. Sync screensaver states between all machines and between machines in use (primary and whatever secondary is being used) Ability to detect whether keyboard and mouse are present and automatically switch the machine that has them to the primary. I have more systems than I do monitors, so some are shared by a KVM switch.. it would be great to be able to have MP detect which machine I'm using on the KVM and make it
As a bit of a follow-up, since getting the new board for the primary machine (SiS 761GX/964 chipset w/ Realtek RTL8201CL 10/100 NIC) Multiplicity has behaved quite well, I dare say flawlessly (that's a good way to jinx it, I know). Of course I've also formatted all 4 machines involved in recent weeks, too. My own unqualified opinion/observation is that it seems to be a matter of certiain components (considering not just this issue, but other connection
Since I use Stardock Central, I don't have a link, but check out the "Rapidly dropping connection" thread here, it's pretty much the same issue. For me disabling the "offloading" features of the on-board network card on my nVidia nForce3 based motherboard resolved the issue. IME if it stutters and lags before disconnecting, then it's usually a network issue. Multiplicity is more sensitive to network conditions than file transfers would be - with a file
I just upgraded to a new motherboard, processor, and video card (and therefor new NIC, still onboard but an SiS chipset instead of nForce3) and it actually seems to be behaving itself now. This may just be temporary, and I'll report back here if the problem returns, but disabling my network connection on the secondary and reconnecting it a few times shows good results so far. Maybe it's just the nVidia NICs in general, at least in my case?
It was the primary. The problem was occuring on all machines, and stopped on all machines when I changed the settings.
Yeesh, you and I have all the same problems, it seems. I haven't been able to get it to reconnect to a disconnected machine for a while now. It doesn't seem to matter what the reason for the disconnect, even if I reboot a secondary machine, it won't reconnect. For me it doesn't seem that manually trying to connect, as you describe, ever really works. It would be kind of nice if there was a feature to force a reconnect. <a href="../resou
It was on by default, I don't normally go into the advanced features for onboard components. This was on an nForce3 board, in case it matters. I also ended up reformatting this machine shortly after that, and those features didn't seem to make a difference after a fresh install (although I disabled them anyway). Considering that it started like that before and then started flaking out a couple/few weeks afterwards, I rather wonder if this is
The bit about disabling offloading features on nVidia NICs did it for me. I'm a little surprised that never came up before. Thank you very much, Neil
It was working just fine with the desktop on the wired connection for some time before this started happening, but then it started happening suddenly, without anything having changed. The suggestion of a Windows Update does make sense, as it seems like it was around that time that it started happening. Even if not a direct cause, but maybe something along the lines of it affecting my firewall, etc., which in turn affects the connection. I use NOD32 on
I'm having this problem as well.. no lag, it doesn't seem to be an issue with the connection, it just suddenly returns to the primary machine. xSCORPx: can you give us a hint on what this repair and diagnostic tool is and/or how we might find it?
Well my problem is actually solved. I just got a new wireless access point today with bandwidth of 108Mb/s, the previous one only had 11Mb/s. With the new access point, shaking the mouse around peaks at 268k/s, so the previous access point just couldn't handle it, especially if there was anything using any bandwidth. It does seem a little excessive to use that much, but hey.. it's working for me now. I actually only upgraded the AP for security, but th
